I agree with Boris on this one thing.....but still never gonna vote Tory for this reason. I would rather let a transgender individual win in a sports race (trivial in comparison to food and fuel poverty, housing crisis etc), than vote for a Tory party whose policies actively promote the poor getting poorer and increased levels of child poverty etc (truly serious matters)
It’s not just a sporting win vs Labour magically solving poverty is it?
What are you saying? That rape of women in prisons and hospitals does not matter? The rape and filming of children in changing rooms?
Women’s rape centres being closed because women don’t want to counselled by a man? Or to be roomed with one? Does that not matter?
Lesbians receiving death and rape threats because they don’t want to have sex with a man? Nah, they’ll be just fine.
Women who are at the top of their field, academics, lawyers, losing their jobs because they KNOW that a human can not change their sex. Universities allowing brainwashed mobs of student to harass and threaten anyone with a differing opinion (or basic grasp of reality). Is that not an issue?
If you really think the issue is just men in our sports vs poverty, the you either haven’t been paying attention or are being deliberately obtuse.
By the by, if the last few elections have taught us anything, it should be that being:
Shocked
Appalled
Mystified
Bemused
Weepy
Horrified
Disgusted
Furious etc. with other peoples voting choices does NOTHING. It doesn’t change minds. You can’t guilt or shame someone in to voting the way you do.
So please, if you have compelling arguments then use them, political discourse is all the better for it. But cut out this tribalistic polarisation, remove the hyperbole, give up on the ineffective emotional blackmail, and make an actual bloody point.
