trib.al/ov5g0nj I can’t stand the throes but agree with this

This is a classic Tory deflection, they can't deliver on the real issues that matter, so let's distract the masses with an 'in vogue' albeit comparatively trivial matter.

It's not the Tories that have brought this issue front and centre though.

DrSbaitso · 06/04/2022 22:32

comparatively trivial matter.

It's not trivial. That's the point.

Blossomtoes · 06/04/2022 22:33

I can’t think middle England will ever vote Labour again tbh, not after the embracing trans everywhere

Do you seriously think the vast majority of middle England gives a shit about this?

Westchesterarms · 06/04/2022 22:33

@Porcupineintherough

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Has anyone said that yet?

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

😂😂😂😂

No. I think you must be the first! 🤔 🤣🤣

KingDangerMouse · 06/04/2022 22:35

Whilst I might agree with Mr Johnson on this point, he has in all likelihood made this statement for political gain only. I have no confidence he won’t change his opinion at some point in the future. I have no confidence in this Government. This alone does not win my vote.

Phobiaphobic · 06/04/2022 22:35

@Blossomtoes I've always been left wing and hated the Tories my whole life. But on this issue I would embrace any party that protected women - and that decision is very recent, whatever you may think.

IamAporcupine · 06/04/2022 22:35

My feminism doesn't deny other people's rights

Your feminism does not know what a woman is.

Florenz · 06/04/2022 22:35

This issue is bigger than individuals winning sports races. It has far reaching consequences that will last far into the future. What is more important than women having the right to exist.

Longcovid21 · 06/04/2022 22:36

Very glad he spoke the truth for once!

I don't have confidence that Boris won't change his opinion. But I have more confidence that he won't than I have that Labour will change theirs.
Historyherstory · 06/04/2022 22:37

That didn’t make sense.., Labour are embracing transwomen at the expense of women eg in prisons, Guides schools rape crisis centres etc.

TheKeatingFive · 06/04/2022 22:38

What is more important than women having the right to exist.

Exactly

whitedahlias · 06/04/2022 22:38

I think there has been a LOT of feedback given on doorsteps to politicians seeking support for May local elections.

Even the politicians who tried to get away with saying it's not a "local" issue have been met down with "What about our LOCAL hospital wards and LOCAL leisure centre toilets etc?"

I told our Lib Dem councillor they would haemorrhage votes to the Tories, partygate or no, on this issue and he actually admitted that he knew that was happening.

chaosrabbitland · 06/04/2022 22:39

@Zonder

I could weep that some people are actually going to vote Tory because Johnson has said this. We can't trust him. He hates women and treats them like shit. The whole government treat women like shit. If you vote Tory based on this article then you are voting against women.
personally it makes me want to laugh, its not worth weeping , if people are that daft they want to vote for him based on this one thing he has said , knowing its coming from the mouth of a proven liar who will do or say anything to stay in power than really more fool them .

i think all this does is show if anything his general contempt for people including women , oh look i will spout this shite because a load of women all hot under the collor about it will believe me and hey bingo lo and behold its worked . the master manipulater pulls it off again . i know he holds most of us general public in contempt , i just find it odd why so many other people dont

Blossomtoes · 06/04/2022 22:41

They haven’t even started campaigning here.

You seem to give a shit. Why wouldn't other people?
tillytoodles1 · 06/04/2022 22:41

For once I agree with him.

jkrfan · 06/04/2022 22:41

@DrSbaitso

This is a government that won't ban gay conversion therapy for fucks sake.

Have I missed something? I thought it was transgender conversion it won't ban.

Correct the T has sensibly been dropped. He has agreed to do LGB conversion therapy ban even though it is already illegal in UK under other laws, so not really necessary but it was needed as a stunt for the Conference originally.
BaileysBreakfast · 06/04/2022 22:42

I have never ever voted conservative but yes I agree with Boris on this and even think he chose his words well.

Blossomtoes · 06/04/2022 22:43

You seem to give a shit. Why wouldn't other people?

You’re assuming I’m middle England.

Phobiaphobic · 06/04/2022 22:43

@Blossomtoes

It takes more balls to put right something you got wrong than it does to just keep going in denial. He is taking a political risk doing that so actually deserves a blinking big hand clap

What’s he put right? Not 12 years of policies that disadvantage women. He’s done nothing except come up with a soundbite that’s got a huge number of women who think they’re feminists wetting their knickers.

That's not true either. Boris stood by Liz Truss when she called a halt on self ID. Without them, we'd be in the same shit as Scotland right now. Look, he's a mop haired lying wanker, sure, but if women lose on this issue we've lost everything we ever fought for so I'm prepared to overlook the rest.
Hasselhoffsheadband · 06/04/2022 22:43

Boris Johnson has clearly said this because he has watched what has happened to Labour politicians when they have stumbled and stuttered when asked simple questions such as 'what is a woman'.

He knows that Labour have fucked up massively on this issue and is now swooping in to exploit that. And who can blame him really, its the lowest hanging fruit possible?

This is why I have come to despise the Labour Party. For leaving so many women, who were so loyal to them for so long, up shit creek. For completely underestimating women. For thinking that we would fucking cheer them on as they go on and on about how important it is for any man to be able to legally declare himself a woman with no gatekeeping. Expecting us to cheer them on as they literally tell us that they don't give a shit about us and that we shouldn't be allowed anything for ourselves, no single sex spaces, no all women shortlists, no more female sports. They thought we were so fucking thick and stupid and so desperate to be kind that we would actually vote for that horseshit?

They can fuck right off. I am so upset with Labour for leaving us in this position.

DrSbaitso · 06/04/2022 22:44

i think all this does is show if anything his general contempt for people including women , oh look i will spout this shite because a load of women all hot under the collor about it will believe me and hey bingo lo and behold its worked .

Well if stating biological fact will get you votes that easily, why the fuck can't Starmer do it?

You lot are angry at the wrong people. How is Labour throwing away public opposition to this bunch of venal arsewipes?

Saskatcha · 06/04/2022 22:44

I am pleased he is standing up here but at the same time this government is stripping us, whatever our gender, of many rights and legal protections and that concerns me hugely.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 06/04/2022 22:44

If Labour gets in we're looking at Self ID and this would be massively destructive of women's interests and safeguarding. It's so important.

I'm a lefty by lifelong inclination and have felt politically homeless. But the current situation is an emergency and I'm now a single issue voter.

I don't like BJ but I don't like many of them tbh. I'm going to vote Tory if they're the only party protecting my interests in this matter..
