trib.al/ov5g0nj I can’t stand the throes but agree with this

@Sausageandeggs

I sort of feel a bit sorry for people who can’t get their head around the idea they may agree with someone they usually don’t agree with.

Anyway, thanks Boris. Vote secured.

Holy crap, there’s really no need to feel sorry for me. Those few words secure your vote? That’s your only consideration after everything else? The man is a misogynist, racist bellwether of public opinion and goes back on his word at every opportunity. The country is fucked and still people fall for it every time.
Westchesterarms · 06/04/2022 21:53

@Iggly
So I don’t trust him to actually deliver.
You might be right he won't deliver and you might be wrong. But we know for certain that none of the other parties will deliver. So it's him or nothing really.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/04/2022 21:54

@bellinisurge

Nobody thinks he's a feminist champion ffs. If he keeps self-ID off the statute books with this. And turns the tide on the de facto self ID we have now, that's good. Don't give a fuck if it's just political opportunism. Labour had fair warning and keep fucking it up
So just ignore all the other misery he's brought then. Nothing else matters.
NancyDrooo · 06/04/2022 21:55

He said what the vast majority of people think about biological males in women’s sports. My niece is at the top of her game in a sport that she could never win if pitched against a male body. Girls won’t bother trying to excel in competitive events if there’s no chance of winning.

I do appreciate the sports issue is not every day life, though. I’m not sure there’s a blanket answer and certainly not one that will please everybody.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 06/04/2022 21:55

@Escarpahell

HRTFT but I hope that all of you who suddenly think Boris is a good egg would be happy to let him into a changing room with your teenage daughter.
Why would he be in the women’s changing rooms when he literally just said that women should have their own spaces (ie changing rooms, toilets etc)

(And no…l don’t suddenly think that boris is a good egg 😒)

SmellyOldOwls · 06/04/2022 21:55

' I’m glad that it’s being discussed by our most senior politicians we know they are point scoring but it’s too important to not be discussed openly at such a high level'

This is the crux of the matter. Most replies on this thread acknowledge that Boris is - well he is what he is, he's not someone I would ever vote for. It's the fact that discussion on this is opening up, that this opinion is one we are 'allowed' to have, that freedom of expression is returning that's worth celebrating. This is what GC feminists - particularly those who have been dragged through the courts - have been fighting for.

I don’t want any man in room with a teenage girl thanks. Whether they are think they are male or female.

I also don’t think the Prime Minister is a sexual predator ( how’re lack his morals)so is unlikely to be in a female changing room.

More than half the voting public were fucked off at the EU hence leaving. It wouldn’t have mattered if Labour or Conservative had suggested it. Same with trans issues. It’s not about a political side, it’s a bigger issue that massively affects half the population of the world.

You don’t know that actually. Plenty of Labour politicians have been sensible on this but they don’t get prime interviews on Sky.

You’re hoping. But given all of the other circumstantial evidence about the man I am not sure why you’re so sure.

His government have presided all of the recent issues we’ve seen with biological men accessing womens spaces.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 06/04/2022 21:56

well said pita , im concerned about the boring shit myself , the stuff that makes all our lives better , frankly i cant fathom anyone that wouldnt base their votes on those issues

The boring shit is important to everyone, it doesn't matter if you are straight, gay or trans or undecided or abstaining, the boring shit makes up the vast majority of your daily life. The boring shit doesn't tend to take away your biological sex based rights though.

MuchasSmoochas · 06/04/2022 21:57

I’ve voted Labour for 28 years. Abstained last election. Am Scotland so no chance of a Tory getting in but right now I would vote Tory.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/04/2022 21:57

Yeah, to be honest sports are not really on the radar for those who are struggling to feed their kids right now.
ZeldaFighter · 06/04/2022 21:57

Astonished that he managed to string a coherent sentence together and I agree but I will never vote Tory.

DogStrummer · 06/04/2022 21:57

@Stellaris22

This reeks of just wanting the MN vote and wouldn't believe a word he says. Since when has he ever told the truth? Just trying to divert attention away from the cost of living crisis and things like fracking.
Not diverting attention. Politicians are being asked about sex based rights, and he has given his answer.

As it's the only position in agreement with objective reality, it seems like voting Tory is the way forward. At least until Labour can provide a definition of what a woman is.

Bizarre that the last sentence had to be written Confused.

Westchesterarms · 06/04/2022 21:58

@Escarpahell

HRTFT but I hope that all of you who suddenly think Boris is a good egg would be happy to let him into a changing room with your teenage daughter.
I think that's the whole point of what Boris said and of the thread - exactly that he shouldn't be allowed into a woman's space. That's why people are agreeing with him.
MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2022 21:59

You don’t know that actually. Plenty of Labour politicians have been sensible on this but they don’t get prime interviews on Sky.

Well that is a big problem because Rayner has been vocal today on this.

Plus it’s Starmer who needs to be clear on the position of the party

If Labour got in would Self ID concern you?

HermioneWeasley · 06/04/2022 21:59

I am a single issue voter because I’m of the view that once women’s sex based rights are lost, they’re lost forever and this disproportionately affects poor women, gay women, and women from ethnic minorities.

If I have to hold my nose and vote conservative, then so be it.

Girlmumdogmumboymum · 06/04/2022 21:59

I just had to check there weren't flying pigs outside.
I agree with Boris, fucking hell. I've said it once in my life now

Iggly · 06/04/2022 21:59

Let’s play guess the politician.

Who very recently said Men have penises, women have vaginas, here ends my biology lesson?

Blossomtoes · 06/04/2022 22:00

I also don’t think the Prime Minister is a sexual predator

Amber Rudd does.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 06/04/2022 22:00

You don’t know that actually. Plenty of Labour politicians have been sensible on this but they don’t get prime interviews on Sky

@Iggly if you have any links to the leader of the Labour party saying the same as Boris on this particular issue, now would be a good time to share them ?

Wedonttalkaboutrats · 06/04/2022 22:00

I don’t think Boris is amazing for saying it. I mean it’s as obvious as 1+1=2. But it’s terrifying that Kier HASN’T said it.
Rock and a hard place. Won’t vote for Boris, can’t vote for Kier.

Iggly · 06/04/2022 22:01

Turningpurple · 06/04/2022 22:01
@Turningpurple the Tories don't care about women. Only the wealthy ones.
Where did I say they do?

But voting Labour is actively voting for against women.

MiniTheMinx · 06/04/2022 22:01

It's definitely the first time I've agreed with him, and hopefully the last. I wouldn't make a habit of it, and I won't be voting Tory.

Historyherstory · 06/04/2022 22:01

Christ will I agree with BORIS JOHNSON for the first time in my life??????

How long has he got til the next election to do his U turn?
