I'm so conflicted. I support a lot of what Labour stand for, but their stance on 'women' is not one I will ever vote for.

So, yeah..Boris. I 100% agree with him. Why oh why did it have to be him?!

Respect my sex if you want my x.

Alexandra2001 · 06/04/2022 21:31

I know you are happy with their messaging but it’s too muddled and it’s not hitting home with the majority interested in this issue

Don't presume to tell me what i'm happy with.

I look at BJ's record and that is closing wards, closing sporting opportunities, defunding prisons and closing refuge's.

As i have said time and time again, i will wait until Labour print their manifesto before saying who i will vote for in 2 years time.... anyone casting their vote now is a fool

@NippyWoowoo

That's great, but I still wouldn't vote for any party he's head of or the Tories ever. I guess I just have different priorities, managing to survive with increasing costs as a single person not eligible for any help remains my top concern, don't give a shit who's pissing in the toilet next to me.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Nail on the head….but we learned from brexit the majority of this country doesn’t care how terrible their life is so long as they don’t live next to someone they don’t perceive has a right to be here, or piss next to someone they don’t perceive has a right to piss next to them!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/04/2022 21:33

There are kids going hungry under Boris's government. I'm honestly baffled that people would vote for him.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 06/04/2022 21:33

The demise of womens rights and single sex space & sport has occurred under Tory watch, not least the NHS

This is worth repeating, and why I'm so bloody angry with Labour for being such a useless Opposition.

At least Johnson has opened the door to more debate at high level. People have been genuinely scared to participate. It has been vicious at activist level in Labour, the Lib Dems, Greens, SNP, Plaid, etc.

chaosrabbitland · 06/04/2022 21:33

@SmellyOldOwls

Good, the more people who just come out and say it the better. He's still no friend of women though.
no , he just likes sleeping with them and making babies , but still its funny to watch you all crack on and vote for him all thinking he cares so much about your rights lol
Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/04/2022 21:33

(Starmer) needs to bring much more clarity to his position if he wants to get ahead on the issue

I'm not sure he can afford to be too clear, Marsha, with a party hogtied by the trans issue.
Whatever he does is going to upset someone, but what beats me is why he keeps them in hock to whatever the latest fashionable "cause" is, and says so little about the bigger picture

I agree with PPs that the womens' rights issue could easily cost them the next election, and if it does the worst thing of all is that they still won't learn

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day

Will never, ever vote Conservative but agree that the politically right-wing have been handed this on a plate.

Am politically homeless until Labour, Greens, SNP, LDs et al get their act together

Iggly · 06/04/2022 21:35

Boris Johnson is famed for saying what he thinks people wants to hear.

See Brexit with his two articles and then he plumps for the most popular option.

I think it’s the same for this. I suspect he’s practiced and practised this line before trotting it out so he can say it clearly. He’s not normally so articulate.

So I don’t trust him to actually deliver. All of the concerns about womens rights and the importance of biology have happened under the Conservatives.

There’s an election coming and he’s making the moves now. As soon as he wins that election as swathes of people get over excited, he’ll go back to bluster and dithering and little will change.

Goodmum1234 · 06/04/2022 21:35

Common sense at last.

KitKat1985 · 06/04/2022 21:35

Yes I also find myself agreeing with Boris for once. First time for everything I guess!

Great you do that.

If you’re not happy with their messaging why do you keep quoting the same thing to me to prove your point?

Actually happy to just leave it there. Already done this enough.

nolongersurprised · 06/04/2022 21:37

You should all be ashamed

Look! A wokescold.

If women lose the ability to name their sex class there will be no women’s rights, no feminism. How can women declare their needs if transwomen are women and biological women are “birthing people”, “cervix hackers”, “bodies with vaginas” and “vulva owners”.

If men can become women - from a legal perspective - by saying they are, there are no single sex spaces or accommodations left.

Trans’ rights activists are men’s rights activists. If they win, the term “women” includes men. That doesn’t look like feminism to me

2) they don't really think it

I think the vast majority of politicians do think it , but they are terrified to say that they do. Boris has said it because

  1. local elections
  2. good day to bury bad news
  3. Someone told him to

Regardless of his reasons, the very fact that he has said what everyone else, other than a teeny tiny very vocal minority, in the country is thinking can only be a good thing ?

TheKeatingFive · 06/04/2022 21:38

Shame Starmer didn't do the same

Phew, for a moment I thought Boris may have said something I agree with but nope.

Just shows he is once again speaking on a topic he knows zilch about. Pretty much the same as most of you MN'ers too when it comes to these types of posts.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/04/2022 21:39

Anyone who votes Tory is saying a massive fuck you to the poorest in society.
