Dp has just looked me up and down and said this nastily to me during an argument.
How would you react?

Because he knows, deep down, that you are worth more than him. He'll pull down your confidence and self esteem until you believe every insult he throws at you. There is no fixing this. Emotional abuse and controlling behaviour is against the law. Ring women's aid for advice. There's a way out. Please, please leave him.

In almost 50 years of marriage my DH has never said anything so horrible to me, and like everyone else, we've had our ups and downs.
You are worthwhile and a caring mother and you deserve better than this.
