To be annoyed by people being early

Isittimeformynapyet · 30/03/2022 19:52

If I arrange to do something at a given time I am always ready. But I'm often inconvenienced by people arriving "virtuously" early.

Should I just be ready early for everything?

putridpudding · 30/03/2022 19:54

How early are we talking?

Blimecory · 30/03/2022 19:56

Arriving where? At your house? Or somewhere else?

Vegansausageroll · 30/03/2022 19:57

I like to be 5 mins early for most things. f I’m running late I get really stressed.

ApolloandDaphne · 30/03/2022 19:59

I'm often early for things as I hate being late so factor in loads of time. Sorry.

Svara · 30/03/2022 19:59

How early? 5 minutes would just be overestimating travel time as to avoid being late.

Badbadbunny · 30/03/2022 20:00

5 or 10 mins early is fine by me, but people who are 30 minutes or more early are really annoying, especially if you can't "park" them somewhere out of the way to make them wait until you're ready.

LardyDee · 30/03/2022 20:02

Other people turning up at my house early - rude. I'll still be hastily bleaching the bog.

Other people turning up anywhere else early - I'm entirely in favour, I don't like having to wait around for people being late.

OfstedOffred · 30/03/2022 20:02

How early? 5 mins is fine, that's fairly standard of leaving a bit of slack to ensure you aren't late.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 30/03/2022 20:03

Early to a neutral venue: fine. Grab a coffee, read a book, whatever.

Early to someone's house or other situation where they'll have to entertain you even when they might not be ready yet: please, for the love of God don't. Be 5-10 minutes late even if you have to sit in the car or walk round the block, unless you've specifically been asked to arrive on the dot.

Wasywasydoodah · 30/03/2022 20:05

Yep. Rude. I can’t stand early people.

mamabr · 30/03/2022 20:08

Oh I hate it when people are too early, especially to my house.. like I'm still changing my toddler for the 2nd time this morning. Go away till we're ready!!
My daughters fathers family are always about 30 mins early and they expect me to be ready. I take the piss until the last minute just to annoy them

CounsellorTroi · 30/03/2022 20:10

I’d always get really annoyed at work by people turning g up half an hour early for meetings and phoning up as soon as they arrived, what did they expect us to do?

Brideandprejudice · 30/03/2022 20:11

Early to what? I'm always early to things because I get extremely stressed about being late.

Although I usually arrive to things early and wait in the car until it's time to go in.

Sirzy · 30/03/2022 20:12

It depends how early. 10-15 minutes is one thing. An hour is another

usernotfound0000 · 30/03/2022 20:13

Totally depends. I'm always early as I hate being late. If I was going to a friends, I'd park round the corner though if I was anything more than 5 minutes early. To a mutual meeting point, I'd either wait in my car or go in and wait depending on the type of place.

Birdfooddirect · 30/03/2022 20:16

Don't go to someone's house early fgs. It's just awful when you think you've got 10 mins to fling your make up on or whatever and you see someone pull on to the drive, it's almost worse than being late.

Autumnwater · 30/03/2022 20:17

It drives me crazy. My DPs parents are a nightmare, turn up for a meal a good 15-20mins before sometimes earlier then we get there on time or slightly before and get told “jokingly” we are late

SouperNoodle · 30/03/2022 20:22

My in laws always arrive at our house 20 minutes early! It does my head in.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 30/03/2022 20:26

I’m always early mostly because I don’t drive and public transport is a fickle cow when it wants to be. I do have the good grace to skulk about further down the street or on a park bench out of sight until a couple of minutes to. I’ll rock up at 11.58 when meeting time was 12 but no sooner.

I hate people arriving at mine more than 5mins early. Also annoys me if they are more than 10mins late without letting me know.
I invited them at whatever time for a reason.

Anywhere else - they can do what they like.

I'll aim to be early but I'll wait round the corner in car till it's the agreed time.

I have a friend who will invite me to hers, I'll arrive on time and she'll be in the bath or just 'popped to the shops' or whatever.
I love her so I put up with it but her husband is really annoying and I often end up stuck making conversation with him for half an hour.

Ikeptgoing · 30/03/2022 20:35

Im a be early person. I will arrive 5-10 mins early as I hate the stress of being late.

Don't think that's rude and I'll sit in my car if is a dinner party or something I think hosts don't want early arrivers for.

What I think is rude is people that rock up 40 mins late!!!
I'm burning dinner by then and don't understand why - I invite for 3.0 mins before dinner goes on table it's all carefully planned so if you wanna be invited again turn up on time!

Horst · 30/03/2022 20:36

I’d rather people be 5 minutes early than late. Late is rude.

Kitkat151 · 30/03/2022 20:37

Early for what?
