I'm mid 40s, single Mum, 4 children, 20, 18, 10 and 8. Two with SEN, living on benefits, DV survivor, well educated, good career before SEN children, ex PTA chair, South England, votes liberal (or tactically to keep the Tories out!). Loves sex, wine at the weekends, no cleaner, no gardener. I love that there's such a variety on people on here ☺️

Blackmagicqueen · 30/03/2022 18:18

Has hired help as "why wouldn't you?"
Works full time and judges sahm who don't have such hired help and "have destroyed pensions and finances."
Swears by boden and twee clothing
Turns nose up at neighbours and their offspring that jump on trampolines, have fake grass, rattan furniture and generally make a racket.
Has a friend who is poorer/struggling and can't connect anymore with this person as "why don't they get hired help?"
Curtain twitches and doesn't answer door to anybody that doesn't have a prior appointment.
Doesn't leave washing out past 5pm incase it is "darked on!"

CounsellorTroi · 30/03/2022 18:21

Showers 6 times a day and is terrified of germs.

MiddleParking · 30/03/2022 18:26

I have a few different MN characters in my head. One is 60, has three grown up children, wears bold earrings and a scarf, works in academia but somehow has literally endless money, gets the train to meet her adult goddaughter for lunch at a light-filled restaurant the odd Saturday despite her friendship with the goddaughter’s mother suffering when the friend offered insufficient support/loyalty during her divorce 13 years earlier due to ex DH’s infidelity, now has a new partner but doesn’t live with him even though he’d like to move in. Another is 38, has two children at primary, all one length brown hair, wears a yellow joules coat at the weekend but a black Uniqlo puffer with gym leggings for the school run, tried at one point to pair them with Vejas (BNIB off eBay) to keep up with the school gate mums but realised they weren’t really her and went back to converse, is grateful for her DH’s parents paying for the DC’s private school fees and their house deposit but also seethes with resentment at them for it.

Blackmagicqueen · 30/03/2022 18:26

Oh and dcs in private school, skiing holidays and threads detailing financial concerns "do I earn enough? Own house deeds, cars, 3 holidays a year, only 400,000 in savings, dh earns 100,000 and my wage is for spending, is this enough?" Hmm

MakkaPakkas · 30/03/2022 18:26

Mid 40s- mid 50s
Middle to high family income
Wears Boden and toast
Husband is annoying & has an outing hobby, but it's actually cycling.
Slightly overweight
Gets very irrate about things most people would never notice
Full of sage nuggets of wisdom

Trixiefirecracker · 30/03/2022 18:26

@CounsellorTroi

Showers 6 times a day and is terrified of germs.
And changes bed linen daily.
Blackmagicqueen · 30/03/2022 18:30

And said bed linen is stained yellow from dh's sweaty head.

NeedleNoodle3 · 30/03/2022 18:31

Uniqlo puffer with gym leggings for the school run, tried at one point to pair them with Vejas (BNIB off eBay) to keep up with the school gate mums but realised they weren’t really her and went back to converse that is very funny, you write really well.

Vampirethriller · 30/03/2022 18:36

Certain posters I always picture as the posh woman in the Catherine Tate sketches.

bozzabollix · 30/03/2022 18:38

Absolutely dementedly scared of all dogs, whether it be a sloppy type or a chihuahua. Can be anything, they’re all vicious brutes.

Similarly absolutely shits it at a full glass of wine, only requires a thimble full to get lashed up.

Clad in Boden, slim because attitude to food is very much akin to attitude to wine drinking.

No hair dye or tattoos because that’d make her dreadfully common.

Drives one of those fecking horrible fake SUV type things that seemingly have fuck all proper purpose apart from being a mum wagon.

Has suspicion that her husband might be an awful cove.

Norgie · 30/03/2022 18:40

Paranoid and neurotic.

KineticSand · 30/03/2022 18:41

Laughing into my G&T while sporting a Toast jumper here. You had me pretty nailed in the first 5 posts or so.

I bloody love Mumsnet. Cheers everyone!

MrsBerthaRochester · 30/03/2022 18:44

Middle class but thinks discussing class is "common"
Slim because carbs are the devil.
Wears the mum uniform of striped tops, jeans and vega's.
Thinks a six figure salary is average.
Has sex twice a week as otherwise the dh's eyes might start wandering.
Drinks Artisan gin but only a couple of times a year as anything else makes you a raging alky.

Im Scottish, a single mum on benefits, drink like a fish and wouldnt be seen dead in jeans and trainers. My xh earned £55 grand and that was considered a VERY good salary.

Sends her DC to piano/french/bassoon lessons

Has a fridge full of Pinot and Hummous

Zoom101 · 30/03/2022 18:46
