Are there any woman in the public eye who look younger than their years?

It comes up quite regularly on MN, where people comment that really nobody of say 40+ looks much younger than their actual age.

But plenty of other women do say they genuinely get taken for younger. So it's obviously quite individual.

Are there any women in the public eye who do look younger, do you think?

I find this fascinating as I am truly shit at guessing anybody's age! Which I suspect could be something to do with being neurodivergent - I just don't 'see' the small giveaways.

I haven’t read the whole thread but why even debate this? We don’t do this about men. It’s supporting the patriarchal ideals that women are just about being attractive and they shouldn’t look their ages! Growing old is a privilege; let’s embrace it

@IcedPurple I agree about the ‘had work done’ look. I also think that for many of these women their eyes give them away - not the wrinkles or whatever around them but the actual eyes themselves.

It sounds a bit woo but eyes are the windows to the soul and 60 year old ones just look different to 30 year old ones, in my opinion.

It's still a crime for a woman, though isn't it? Older women become targets of derision. Older men gain gravitas.

There is a difference between looking young and looking good having been tweaked

Isla Fisher looks younger but always has Amanda Holden looks good but tweaked

Nicole Kidman can hardly move her face she doesn’t look young to me she looks like a woman who could be 35 or 55 and had far too many fillers and Botox

Slightly off topic but we were in a hotel in the lakes a couple of years ago and Floella was in the leisure club the same time as us. I was absolutely star struck , she was lovely and smiley and being nice to staff. The man in the hot tub (similar age to me) pretended not to know who she was but I think he was trying to be cool!

Are there any women who definitely HAVEN'T had work done, who look good for their age? So many of the women named have had work done. Yes, they're better looking to start with, but that doesn't necessarily mean younger looking.

I look within 5 years of my age, either side, depending on who looks at me and what time of day it is.

I don't think Taylor Swift has had much (if any) work done on her face. She looks incredible. I'm biased because I love her, but I'm also not blind. She's 32

Selena gomez could still pass for 20 but again she's not old. Don't think she's had much done either.

I would say the only older ones who look truly younger (and not 'fixed' or just older but beautiful) are Isla Fischer and Gabrielle Union.

So I googled celebs who look young.. and found an article with 50 (included men). These were the only ones I was shocked at.

It doesn't say when the photos were taken though...

And the plastic surgery is evident.

I'd add Halle Berry. I'm sure she's had 'work' done but it's subtle and she still looks like herself.

The photos themselves will often be 'enhanced'. What they look like first thing on a Monday morning might be something else entirely.

NO WAY! She looks in her 30s could even pass for late 20s if I didn’t know that she has been around forever. Doesn’t even look like she has had any work done unlike others (e.g Kylie) and if she has then it’s very natural

Susie Dent looks like a woman in her 50s, which is perfectly fine. I really like her word podcasts. Language is so interesting.

I follow Gabrielle Union on Instagram and there’s loads of makeup free, splashing about in a pool, sweating up a storm during a workout, hair in a sleep bonnet photos of her. She looks phenomenal, for any age. The fact that she’s 50 in a few months genuinely astonishes me.

I think she looks like she’s in her mid 30’s, tops.

I never said it was reflective of that. I think that’s the case with everyone who you don’t live with. You see carefully selected photos of them on social media and have no idea what they look like first thing on Monday morning. As such, I don’t think it’s massively relevant to this conversation - however that wasn’t what I disagreed with.

Again, what I was disagreeing with was we usually only see these women when they've spent hours with professional hair and make up people. With lots of them (Gabrielle being the example I went for), that isn’t the case.

Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci don't look their age.

Cher, Nicole Kidman and Gwen Stefani etc don't look young. They look like aliens.
