Are there any woman in the public eye who look younger than their years?

It comes up quite regularly on MN, where people comment that really nobody of say 40+ looks much younger than their actual age.

But plenty of other women do say they genuinely get taken for younger. So it's obviously quite individual.

Are there any women in the public eye who do look younger, do you think?

I find this fascinating as I am truly shit at guessing anybody's age! Which I suspect could be something to do with being neurodivergent - I just don't 'see' the small giveaways.

Nigella Lawson doesn't look 63

dottydodah · 26/03/2022 08:39

The Canyon Reese Witherspoon is 46!

Squidlette · 26/03/2022 08:39

Are there any women who definitely HAVEN'T had work done, who look good for their age? So many of the women named have had work done. Yes, they're better looking to start with, but that doesn't necessarily mean younger looking.

I look within 5 years of my age, either side, depending on who looks at me and what time of day it is.

Maggiethecat · 26/03/2022 08:48

Nigella doesn’t look 63 in the way that many others mentioned don’t look their age probably because they’ve had work done.

Madonna?

Personally I’d rather look my age than have work done.

Maireas · 26/03/2022 08:50

@jungledoc

It's also happening in reverse though where 20 something celebs look 10 yrs older dice to tweaks.
That's very true, it's so ageing. They lose the freshness, the bloom of youth.
TrashyPanda · 26/03/2022 08:50

Rosie Marcel (Jac in Holby) is 44 but looks incredible. She has the most beautiful skin and fab bone structure.

Helen Mirren (76)

Jamie Lee Curtis (63)

Both these ladies also rock grey hair

Maireas · 26/03/2022 08:53

Amanda Holden and Nicole Kidman don't look younger than their years. They look very smooth and pulled. Not the same.

Birdfooddirect · 26/03/2022 08:54

So who hasn't had work done

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 26/03/2022 08:55

@changingjobstomorrow

Amanda holden. Don't particularly like the woman but she looks good for 51 years old
She really doesn't. She looks like a waxwork and her features are not realistic. She might look younger if you ignore her face.
Maggiethecat · 26/03/2022 08:56

@Squidlette - can’t say for sure who hasn’t had work done but I think it’s easier to guess who has - that plastic/limited expression look is recognisable.

I’d bet money that Alicia Keyes hasn’t had work done though. She even went through a phase of no makeup so what you saw was really someone who looked much younger than her age.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 26/03/2022 08:57

@halfsiesonapotnoodle

Christie Brinkley.
She's another who doesn't look right. On every picture she looks like the Joker.
PurpleHollyhocks · 26/03/2022 08:57

Well they all do because they get so much work

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 26/03/2022 08:58

@Appolonia

Kate Beckinsale (48) looks amazing
She's massively heavy on tweakments to the extent she's like an Android.
CounsellorTroi · 26/03/2022 09:00

@jeepjeep4

Tess daly
I saw her being interviewed on It Takes Two when she didn’t have her full TV makeup on. She really didn’t look much younger than her age.
ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 26/03/2022 09:00

@GreenClock

Tina O’Brien Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe Yvette Cooper Konnie Huq
These are more realistic. It's terrifying that I'm two years older than Tina O'Brien and I feel like her mum! I'm 41 and I look 41 which is fine. On the way for my monthly facial now!
ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 26/03/2022 09:04

@BattledoreAndShuttlecock

I think there's a big difference between women of 50+ who've had a lot of work done along with world class makeup and skin care, and women in the public eye who just happen to have baby faces like Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), Selena Gomez or Nicola Adams. (I'm sure the first two also benefit from the very best makeup and skin care).
Amanda Holden fitted that description before all the fiddling with her face.

Truthfully, I doubt it. Teeth whitening (takes years off) is pretty much a given, and a little botox will be a regular part of maintenance, like a facial. I think these threads give a skewed idea of the prevalence of treatments because they attract a lot of people who are very anti, and know like minded people, but in RL i find the majority of women who are into any type of grooming (hair, nails etc) add a little botox to their routine eventually, so I would say few celebrities don't. Lightly done, it's not a huge game game changer though, just a slight refreshing, so it takes nothing away from how great they look naturally.
A580Hojas · 26/03/2022 09:07

Jane Seymour. Whatever work she's had done is excellent.

I spend a lot of money on my haircut and colour but I have never had Botox or fillers and I never will. I wonder if in time we will regard these treatments in the same way we regard Elizabethan women whitening their skin with lead and dropping deadly nightshade into their eyes to make them look bigger and more luminous.

ntsure · 26/03/2022 09:14

These threads are so gross. Who cares what age people look, it just feeds into the narrative that attractive=young
A lot of the celebrities named as looking younger actually just look attractive. You can be attractive at any age.
You don’t really see these threads about men do you.

CowboyFromHell · 26/03/2022 09:16

Nigella Lawson - 62
Rachel Weisz - 52

True. Loads of really accomplished women mentioned here, purely in terms of what they look like or how much work they may or may have had done.
Beetlewings · 26/03/2022 09:30

Have you seen Kate Beckinsale? That woman is 48, she looks late 20s

IcedPurple · 26/03/2022 09:40

@Money4icecream

Kate Beckinsale is 48. She looks early 30s.
No she doesn't. She has that weird ageless sort of look, otherwise known as 'LA face'. Same with many of the women mentioned here. They don't look 'young'. They look like they've had work done. Not the same thing.

I fully expect lots of people will say the same. But there are many many others out there who are, lots don't admit it, particularly to those who are strongly anti. We're in a very different place to those days with regards to knowledge, research, science. Not to mention litigation culture that acts as something of a safety harness, so I'd be surprised if we ever looked back through that lens. What would be great is if we could one day look back in amazement at a society that fetishised 'the bloom of youth' (which looking back on old photos, never quite settled on me or my contemporaries with our spots and somewhat doughy faces) and started to actually see older faces as beautiful. Because I'm not sure all women are necessarily seeking to look younger, I think a lot are happy with our age; just closer to the idea of what is considered aesthetically pleasing. Sadly for most people the two seem to be interchangeable.
