Are there any woman in the public eye who look younger than their years?

It comes up quite regularly on MN, where people comment that really nobody of say 40+ looks much younger than their actual age.

But plenty of other women do say they genuinely get taken for younger. So it's obviously quite individual.

Are there any women in the public eye who do look younger, do you think?

I find this fascinating as I am truly shit at guessing anybody's age! Which I suspect could be something to do with being neurodivergent - I just don't 'see' the small giveaways.

I think people with big eyes seem to look younger and being slim-not skeletal-helps too.

I think if fillers and bo-tox are done to enhance rather than change, it can be beneficial if you want to look younger or less worn out!

I think people have this idea that 40+ looks like our mothers did, so anyone NOT like that looks young to us. And we're also measuring our older selves against them.

I work with kids who are just about to leave school/ late teens. I can't think of any celebrities who look 19/20.

NONE of them do. Except the ones who ARE 19/20!

Yoko Ono deserves a mention IMO. She's 89 (but let's say 100 if we're ageing her up Floella Benjamin style!)

I saw Cher live about three years ago. She is super fit and moves like a woman half her age. So yeah, her face is famously plastic but you can't buy fitness.

My Mum is 83 and looks just as young as Nancy Pelosi. I think that’s actually a pretty normal nowadays 80 something look. These women were young in the 50s and 60s and were trailing a path about women in work! The problem is when you start getting work done and age yourself. Everyone knows what a 50 year old looks like compared to a botoxed, implanted 50 year old looks like.

Why is it such a bloody SIN to look your age FFS?

It isn't. I say that as someone with loads of greys at 37 and a facial scar who probably looks older than my age, and could not care less.

Still, I find it fascinating that some women look younger and how it can be almost impossible to tell what age exactly someone is.

I'll be honest - I love Cher but someone mentioned she was 75, I could've sworn she was actually older? Has she started 'ageing backwards' the way some other celebs do where their official age changes?

I have a colleague who is 38 but genuinely looks 18/19. It does happen. Even if MN tells you it's impossible.
Give over 😂 there's not a 38yr old on the planet that looks 18! 🤣

Amanda Holden/Elizabeth Hurley - both have outstanding figures, clearly watch their diet etc. But the first thing you notice about their faces is how fake they are, and wonder exactly what they have had done.

It's so hard with celebs though - they are so airbrushed in magazines, they use filters on their own social media, at Red carpet events they've had hours of stage make-up applied and the lighting is perfect, and then the everyday pics where journalists catch them 'looking at their worst' are also not fair either. A bad angle with a double chin could add years to anyone!

I think you can only really know if you see them in the flesh.

I think there's a big difference between women of 50+ who've had a lot of work done along with world class makeup and skin care, and women in the public eye who just happen to have baby faces like Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), Selena Gomez or Nicola Adams. (I'm sure the first two also benefit from the very best makeup and skin care).

Difficult to ssy, as women in the public eye often have enhancements (they can afford it ) done.
I much more admire naturally youthful looking women.

More plastic surgery than you can shake a stick at!!!! She has completely lost her natural beauty and comes across as a woman desperately trying to hold on to sexiness and youth.

Admittedly it’s been a while since I’ve seen her on TV, but the make-up artist Ruby Hammer looked fantastic and way younger than her actual age.

I didn’t know Susie Dent had had work done! And I could name a lot of celebrities who obviously have had cosmetic surgery (but I won’t). In general, their skin looks oddly taut, their eyes looked sunken and have changed in shape and their lips look swollen.

I think that beyond a certain age, most people have to choose between looking old and looking weird (but wrinkle-free). But there are lucky exceptions.
