Interested to hear some opinions. What do you think of her? I was just reading a Dailymail article where she and William are in Belize and people are complaining about them flaunting their lives and all that. People struggling and Ukraine on fire, etc and Kate and William are rubbing it in people's faces. What do you think? Yes, they definitely have it better than a lot of people but in one sense I also feel that she has to thread on eggshells being in the public eye so much. Say one thing she'll be crucified but if she says something else it will be the same, she can't win regardless of what she says or do. If she acknowledges and openly says that she's got it easy with her luxury lifestyle people will scream down her neck about that too. What do you think? What's your view on Kate?

I'm not getting that vibe at all from the articles I'm reading today (the bit where you say they are flaunting their lives). In fact the bits I have read have been very complimentary to them both on this trip.

My only comment is she appears very thin, thinner than how she looked earlier on. None of my business of course.

apart from that, I think the RF have a winner there.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 22/03/2022 22:00

Not like the other miserable mardy non-princess married to the non-prince.

The brother's wife had sufficient insight to know where she wasn't wanted, the means and the gumption to forge an independent existence, and the sense to walk away when it was apparent she couldn't possibly win.

The rest of that cosseted clan, her husband not excepted, would struggle to survive a day in the real adult working world. Not one of them would have a hope in hell of doing the same.

History might well end up judging this more kindly than the anachronistic farce her husband came from, and if the current response in the 'commonwealth' is anything to go by, it possibly already is.

I'd say it's she who is the smart one.

ForeverLooking · 22/03/2022 22:01

Honestly, I have no opinion on her at all. As someone else posted here, she's so bland and vanilla publically (purposely of course) that it's difficult to say anything bad about her. She seems a nice person and the exactly what the RF want to present to the public. Like lots of other people, I'd rather the monarchy be done and dusted with the death of the Queen but I'm sure it won't be.

DeedIDo · 22/03/2022 22:01

I was prepared to find her hard faced and over made up, with all the things that those things imply.

When I saw her at a public appearance, she was pregnant with Louis, she was much prettier in real life, made time for the children in the crowd and crouched down to their level. Overall, I'm a fan.

William on the other hand took the other side of the crowd and frankly was a bit nothingin comparison.

History repeating itself?

Kezzie200 · 22/03/2022 22:05

I suspect I would like her, if I knew her. I've generally been a supporter of the main royals but I think they need to read the room a bit more generally to be honest and adapt significantly.

But, Kate is OK.

Samcro · 22/03/2022 22:07

She seems a perfectly nice person.
I often wonder how much say she has in what she wears, or wear she goes.

ufucoffee · 22/03/2022 22:08

Her behaviour and demeanour are impeccable and I admire her for that. Being involved with the royal family for so long and never putting a foot wrong is amazing I think. I think she seems like a nice woman.

Poppy92r · 22/03/2022 22:09

I love her. I think she's beautiful, elegant and an all round lovely lady. I think she handles herself well when faced with criticism and always with dignity.

Laiste · 22/03/2022 22:09

I didn't know about the holiday so don't particularly feel as if i've had my face ''rubbed in it'' Grin

I like her. As much as i ''like'' anyone i've never met. If i had to meet a royal i'd chose her.

She seems to take her role seriously. If someone's got to do it i'm glad it's her and she's making a good effort.

I wouldn't want the job. I'd vote to abolish the monarchy. I get the feeling she'd be happy slipping into wealthy oblivion with Wils and her kids if the monarchy was abolished tomorrow. I mean i don't think she craves fame.

Chloemol · 22/03/2022 22:10

Love her

whenisitfriday · 22/03/2022 22:12

I think she is very pretty and elegant but there's a lot more to her than she projects.

HomecomingKween · 22/03/2022 22:12

'doesn't put a foot wrong' is clearly a favoured phrase by those who are fans of hers.

TheHoptimist · 22/03/2022 22:14

I think they lost the plot during covid:
Glamour shots in pink suit doing wfh calls (2 weeks into lockdown)
Saying they hadn't told the children it was Easter and had carrie don home schooling (whilst most parents WFH and home schooling were at their wits end)
Going on the train trip where she wore multiple coats on 1 day at a point where this who really gave a shit were still trying to feed vulnerable people who had lost their livelihood due to cv19.
Getting her children to deliver home made pasta to the 'vulnerable of sandringham'

ouch321 · 22/03/2022 22:14

She got where she is by being born beautiful and by wearing a see through dress at a fashion show William attended at uni.

There is no better reflection of the way of modern society than this.

TheHoptimist · 22/03/2022 22:15

She was tone deaf during lockdown- that isn an impeccable demeanour- it is totally lack of reality or arrogance
nildesparandum · 22/03/2022 22:16

I have never met this woman so cannot express any opinion.I cannot stand the constant fawning over her by the media though, it puts the rest of us women in a poor light if you are daft enough to believe it .One journalist even described her as ''A goddess walking amongst us''.
If I knew her in person then I would know what she is really like, but as I have never met her or likely to meet her I cannot say what I think.
All I know about her is her whole life is very very different to mine.

Cyclemarine · 22/03/2022 22:16

It’s not that Kate doesn’t put a foot wrong
It’s that the press choose not to report it. Look at how MM was said to have made Kate cry, we then heard in the Oprah interview that the reverse was true which the royals have never disputed. There’s a phrase that some have “the complexion for protection” and I’d say that applies here. Conversely a male actor has shared with a newspaper that multiple UK tabloids offered him 70K to LIE and say he was with MM. I noticed another poster said they knew someone who worked with the royals that was shocked at the lack of her work ethic. Were that MM for example the media would have been all over it. I’ve also heard various reports that she was miffed Meghan and Harry were leaving because it spelt more work for her, which I wouldn’t be surprised if true.

nettie434 · 22/03/2022 22:17

I admire her. She is incredibly good at the banquety/premier attending side of her role but she has also involved herself in advocating for mental health and children's wellbeing - all the more impressive as mental health has not traditionally benefited from having royal patrons.

In theory I'd prefer a republic and then I look at Trump and am grateful for a constitutional monarchy. Since Mary Robinson, Ireland has been excellent in terms of having a neutral and impressive head of state but I don't know how we could achieve this.

I'm surprised at the number of posters who think Prince William has had multiple affairs. Could he really hide it these days? Of course there may be many injunctions but they don't stop websites etc outside the UK from publishing revelations. If he does have affairs, she has clearly made a choice to carry on as if everything is ok.

nutellingyou · 22/03/2022 22:17

I'm sick of her acting like some early years expert when she allows her son to take part in blood sports.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 22/03/2022 22:19

I don’t really care enough about the royal family to have an opinion, I’m not fussed at all, don’t see the big fuss.
I do think she’s probably changed her personality to fit in and conform to what the royal family wants. Which is why I think Meghan had so much trouble fitting in.

TheHoptimist · 22/03/2022 22:19

with her all male early years panel!
nokidshere · 22/03/2022 22:19

I don't have any particular opinion on the royal family but I do find it laughable that the people saying she 'hasn't got a clue about the real world' seem to think that they have any actual idea what she is like in private.

Everyone has a work persona.

moanriver · 22/03/2022 22:20

I think she plays her part perfectly, but that's what it is, a role, a part, a tourism draw, a symbol but not really anything significant to the daily lives of UK people. So I admire her but also despair a little that she's so voiceless and seems opinionless

Sparklingbrook · 22/03/2022 22:21

You have a lot of questions @Teadrinker11. Are you coming back to this one?

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 22/03/2022 22:21

I did get pissed off when the media reported on her pregnancys, I know she had no control over that, however they acted like she was the first ever person to have severe morning sickness etc, she wasn’t the first and she won’t be the last.
