To ask what you think of Kate Middleton?

Interested to hear some opinions. What do you think of her? I was just reading a Dailymail article where she and William are in Belize and people are complaining about them flaunting their lives and all that. People struggling and Ukraine on fire, etc and Kate and William are rubbing it in people's faces. What do you think? Yes, they definitely have it better than a lot of people but in one sense I also feel that she has to thread on eggshells being in the public eye so much. Say one thing she'll be crucified but if she says something else it will be the same, she can't win regardless of what she says or do. If she acknowledges and openly says that she's got it easy with her luxury lifestyle people will scream down her neck about that too. What do you think? What's your view on Kate?

I think she's a terrible role model for girls, she has never had a career, left uni and didn't work, instead choosing to wait around to be proposed to. She's also unnaturally thin. She has allowed whatever personality she may have had to be subsumed by her husband's family and has overlooked her husband's affair. I would hate my daughter to look up to her over a strong woman who has achieved on her own merit and hard work. And whatever people say, what the RF do is not work, not compared to most people

Incorrect. She worked for Jigsaw (?) when she left uni.

She isn’t Kate Middleton anyway and hasn’t been for a long while.

But who could call someone the Princess of Wales or Duchess of Cambridge with a straight face.

It was very much a part time hobby job, which she got through connections and not much was expected of her. I'm not particularly knocking that btw, plenty of girls of her s

TheKeatingFive · 08/01/2024 09:14

Whoops

Girls of her social class do similar until they marry. But it was in no sense a 'career'

Exactly..it's so well known that we don't know anything about them NellGwynn

She will always be KM to me. I don't do titles.

But her surname hasn't been "Middleton" for years now. Like many women she changed it when she got married.

Call her what you like. I'm sticking to KM.

In general I'd agree that people should be referred to by their chosen name but with Kate it's difficult if you don't believe in titles - what do you call her, Kate Wales? Mrs Windsor? Catherine Mountbatten Windsor?

It's much easier for people to understand Kate Middleton

And given how many people call women who have kept their birth name by the wrong surname, I can't get too exercised about it when it goes the other way once

Do you usually go around calling women by their maiden names, even if they changed that name upon marriage?

If the titles were abolished tomorrow then they'd use Mountbatten-Windsor.

Yeah but the point is that if you don't believe in titles (which I don't), you could call her Kate Mountbatten Windsor but no one would know who you were talking about. It's understandable that you then say Middleton.

DaffodilDandilion · 08/01/2024 20:53

Fergie was Fergie before, during and after her marriage.

I’m not a fan of titles so to me she is Kate Middleton, simply to distinguish her from any other Kates.

Eesha · 08/01/2024 22:19

I must have posted before but I think she looks amazing and he couldn't have picked better. However she looks so thin and I genuinely wonder if she has an eating disorder.

IvorTheEngineDriver · 08/01/2024 22:39

I know a number of guys who have worked for her father. They say he's a great bloke and a perfect gentleman and Kate is a chip off the old block.

I watched the Coronation behind the scenes programme the other day and was really shocked at how thin she is. She looks like a gust of wind would blow her over. It does remind me of Diana in her eating disorder days . It’s not attractive .

LBFseBrom · 08/01/2024 23:31

She is very slender, Eesha and Nell Gwynne, looks like a top model and whatever she wears is superbly displayed. At the same time, Kate appears to be fit and healthy. Lucky woman! I remember thinking that when she went to Meghan and Harry's wedding which took place a month or so after the birth of Prince Louis. It was amazing.

KarenNotAKaren · 08/01/2024 23:54

She seems lovely but quite dull. I wouldn’t invite her round for a glass of wine if she was a school mum, she doesn’t come across as having much craic

KarenNotAKaren · 08/01/2024 23:55

Then again the RF don’t need bags of personality and we don’t want it from them really do we!

I think it's covered alot, Russell's sign bulimia, Google images of her with plasters on her hands.

Popcorn23 · 09/01/2024 07:07

My opinion is that the monarchy should be abolished, Kate and all. The money spent on the coronation alone during the cost of living crisis was yet another example of how out of touch they are. As for Andrew....

pilates · 09/01/2024 16:45

Stating someone you don’t know as having an eating disorder or bulimia is deeply unpleasant. I know thin people in rl who are not the above. They are just thin.

Eesha · 09/01/2024 19:31

@pilates i agree but she's so much thinner than before, after 3 children?

YachtMistress · 09/01/2024 20:14

Having met her and some of her family, by chance, informally over the past few years, they were down to earth and charming. They are in a difficult position ( which some of them chose).
