To ask what you think of Kate Middleton?

Interested to hear some opinions. What do you think of her? I was just reading a Dailymail article where she and William are in Belize and people are complaining about them flaunting their lives and all that. People struggling and Ukraine on fire, etc and Kate and William are rubbing it in people's faces. What do you think? Yes, they definitely have it better than a lot of people but in one sense I also feel that she has to thread on eggshells being in the public eye so much. Say one thing she'll be crucified but if she says something else it will be the same, she can't win regardless of what she says or do. If she acknowledges and openly says that she's got it easy with her luxury lifestyle people will scream down her neck about that too. What do you think? What's your view on Kate?

@Blinky21 can you point me in the right direction to find out about William's other women?

MasterBeth · 23/03/2022 15:04

@Cam22

Her name is not Kate Middleton. Are you from The Daily Mail? They persist in making that error.
I call Kate Middleton Kate Middleton for the same reason i still talk about Lady Di, Puff Daddy, Kanye West or Posh Spice. We all know who we're talking about.

Plus it's not like there's a good alternative to using her maiden name. I just can't get on board with calling someone the Duchess of Cambridge, that's not a name and it just seems so.... fawning. Plus people get confused between who's Cambridge and who's Cornwall.

Definitely this.

Catherine/Kate Cambridge?

Justkeeppedaling · 23/03/2022 16:21

It’s obviously not vintage either. It’s a mass produced copy of a 1950s dress.

Since when has "vintage" meant "unique"?

"Mid century" furniture is considered vintage these days (to my horror), so why not dresses?

Sunshineydaaayy · 23/03/2022 16:31

I'm pretty sure that these kinds of threads are created by people close to MM to have a C D of C pile on!! Too many crafted answers by similar sounding user names. Too obvious guys!

Sunshineydaaayy · 23/03/2022 16:34

I have mixed feelings about Kate..one on hand I think great she is kind and bland so that William/ the royals are not maligned by her behaviour in any way and on the other I wish she showed more character but maybe it's not there to show and she is just being herself? She seems very nice anyway and I would trust her with my kids.

Conspicuous lack of response there!

fogglez · 23/03/2022 16:43

I know that many may disagree with me, but I am convinced that Harry and Meghan would have got a much better reception.

I think as a foursome they could have been fantastic

TimBoothseyes · 23/03/2022 16:51

Not much. She seems very fake and devoid of any personality IMO.

Lurking9to5 · 23/03/2022 18:30

I think she's smart enough not to need the public to know what her personality is. We can think what we like she wont be generating headlines because of her personality.

Exactly.
LottyD32 · 23/03/2022 19:04

@Theunamedcat

I think its highly disrespectful to refer to her constantly by her maiden name

I think they were invited and someone messed up getting permission for the helicopter and they did the right thing by cancelling that part of the trip to keep the peace

I think life does not stop because of putin invading the Ukraine sorry it just doesn't

Does everyone complain that the latest set of film awards shows shouldn't go ahead? No new films shouldn't be made because they cost millions and it flaunts wealth? No the space station should we stop reporting about that? If cost billions and there are Russians there!....Still on my TV though

I think life does not stop because of putin invading the Ukraine sorry it just doesn't

Exactly, it's keep calm and carry on.

I love Kate and the Queen, and Eugenie, but not fussed about the rest of them.

Dentistlakes · 23/03/2022 19:10

I think she married into the Royal family knowing the score. She’s stepped up, done her job and done it pretty well imo. She understands what’s required of her and delivers. Over the years she’s really grown into her role and I’ve been pretty impressed actually. I’m not particularly into the royals, but she hasn’t put a foot wrong in her public life and that’s not easy. I’m absolutely sure I could do what she does.

Dentistlakes · 23/03/2022 19:11

That should read ‘couldn’t do what she does’!

DillDanding · 23/03/2022 19:14

I think people call her Kate Middleton because what’s the alternative? If you just say Kate as an opener, people won’t know who you mean.

The duchess of Cambridge seems ludicrously forelock tugging for a chat forum. Ditto Catherine. I know she’s tried since her marriage to get that to stick with the proles, but everyone knows she’s actually called Kate. My friend hosted them at a sports event and William called her Kate throughout.

Malteser71 · 23/03/2022 19:17

I think she’s really lovely, and an absolute rock for William. Who’d want to be king? What an awful lot of pressure.

I think Diana would have loved her, too.

pilates · 23/03/2022 19:17

“I admit I don't like her, she's very sly. She knew she made Meghan cry, didn't own up to it and let Meghan take the rap, forcing Meghan to tell her side on Oprah. But I also don't like William for the same reason.”
^
You was there were you when all the drama was going on? 🤣

PollysPockets · 23/03/2022 19:21

Couldn’t care less about her or any of the other royals.
Obviously I don’t wish them harm but apart from that I don’t care

AuxArmesCitoyens · 23/03/2022 19:26

Conspicuous lack of response there!

The name is literally on this thread.

Myee · 23/03/2022 19:42

It is just so Disney like.

All a facade I reckon, and who wants to live in a facade.

Their days are numbered anyway. I realise the institution of the monarchy will go on for a long time yet, but people's interest in them is fading fast I think. They are not relevant anymore to anyone.

Oo. Me, me. 🙋 I want to be Queen or King. I'd be dead good at it. Let me have a go.

  1. I don't think that's an endorsement.
  1. I think Diana would've been the MIL from hell and hated her DIL getting more headlines than her. I think Kate's life would be much harder if Diana were around.
Sailorsusan · 23/03/2022 20:07

She did work after Uni, didn't she? I thought she was a buyer for Jigsaw and worked at Party Pieces.
