Interested to hear some opinions. What do you think of her? I was just reading a Dailymail article where she and William are in Belize and people are complaining about them flaunting their lives and all that. People struggling and Ukraine on fire, etc and Kate and William are rubbing it in people's faces. What do you think? Yes, they definitely have it better than a lot of people but in one sense I also feel that she has to thread on eggshells being in the public eye so much. Say one thing she'll be crucified but if she says something else it will be the same, she can't win regardless of what she says or do. If she acknowledges and openly says that she's got it easy with her luxury lifestyle people will scream down her neck about that too. What do you think? What's your view on Kate?

It’s obviously not vintage either. It’s a mass produced copy of a 1950s dress.

SleeplessInEngland · 23/03/2022 12:18

They both look ridiculous on their current tour. How does the Royal Family PR still think this stuff helps, especially as Jamaica has already said it's going republic when they bugger off?

SleepingStandingUp · 23/03/2022 12:19

@Blossomtoes

It’s not a one off if it comes in a variety of sizes, is it? One off means there’s only one garment.
It isn't showing as for sale
HairyToity · 23/03/2022 12:21

Disinterested. I'd like to live in a Republic.

In what way do they look ridiculous?
Ozanj · 23/03/2022 12:26

She’s nothing special. ‘Forgettable’ is the word I’d use but I suppose that’s the reason why Prince William married her.

"This dress is in perfect vintage condition, with one very small age mark to the back of the skirt along the hemline. This is in no way apparent when the dress is being worn."

That's from the website.

I am now very confused.

Ozanj · 23/03/2022 12:44

@SleepingStandingUp

As for Kate, there's so few stories about her I assume she has very loyal friends. That suggests she's a decent sort of person. Her family seem very close. She seems like a good Mom. If we bumped into ea h other in Starbucks in she we could have a perfectly nice chat about raising three kids albeit very differently and she's probably a laugh once she feels safe. But it must be quite isolating to know that any new friends have to prove their worth becks being trusted
Or, more likely, she has no friends left that aren’t also joint friends.
Onthedowns · 23/03/2022 12:45

14 pages of commentary and opinion on someone few people have met - really???

2bazookas · 23/03/2022 12:48

I think she is an intelligent women who chose a very difficult career, knowing all the pitfalls, and is doing it better than anyone could have hoped .

I've appreciated the huge contribution the current Queen has made to this country but had no great hopes anyone could follow her act. Charles probably can't; but Camilla has shaped up well and might manage to keep him on track till Kate takes over.

Samcro · 23/03/2022 12:49

I do find it funny the way people keep pretending she is down to earth.
She seems nice and all that, but she lives a charmed life, has never struggled, so nice, yep, down to earth..no

SleepingStandingUp · 23/03/2022 12:51

Or, more likely, she has no friends left that aren’t also joint friends. but the ex friends would spill stories of she was a bitch.

Really? Which republic leaders do you admire?

I think it's probably now the stories about her taking the kids to B&M and asking in a pub if Charliotte could the loo range then her understanding what it's like being working class or having a full time job etc
TheKeatingFive · 23/03/2022 13:18

I know it's always brought up on these threads, but the presidents of ROI tend to be very admirable people.

PinaColada123456 · 23/03/2022 13:24

I admit I don't like her, she's very sly. She knew she made Meghan cry, didn't own up to it and let Meghan take the rap, forcing Meghan to tell her side on Oprah. But I also don't like William for the same reason.

Brefugee · 23/03/2022 14:20

I live in a republic, with a president and a type of prime minister. It's great.

I've appreciated the huge contribution the current Queen has made to this country but had no great hopes anyone could follow her act

what. What has she contributed?

Cam22 · 23/03/2022 14:22

Her name is not Kate Middleton. Are you from The Daily Mail? They persist in making that error.

Why do you believe Meghan, and not Kate?
Grapewrath · 23/03/2022 14:25

I don’t give her much thought tbh. She’s pretty boring imo

LondonLass61 · 23/03/2022 14:40

@ColdSeptember

Lazy, bland sponger who's never worked a day in her life. IMHO.
I agree with this 100%. However, I also think that she's become worryingly thin.
ukborn · 23/03/2022 14:47

But it's not them in particular it's any royal that might visit. So their reception in Belize has nothing to do with Kate.
I have no opinion of her as I don't really think about the royals but she does seem to be doing a good job. She understands her duties and carries them out well.

Lampzade · 23/03/2022 14:56

I think that the Commonwealth Tour is an unmitigated disaster.
I know that many may disagree with me, but I am convinced that Harry and Meghan would have got a much better reception.
The Royal Family is an outdated institution and I think that it is patronising to have the ‘descendants’ of the colonial ‘masters’ turn up in these countries. Britain is no longer the power that it was.
At least Meghan being a member of the RF indicated that the Royal Family was trying to modernise,
The RF are viewed with suspicion in Commonwealth countries. These countries want reparations not hand waving
Despite her wealth and privilege, I actually feel sorry for Kate. She sometimes comes across as someone who is trapped in a marriage where she is regarded as a piece of furniture rather than a woman with a mind of her own.

VanCleefArpels · 23/03/2022 14:58

@CounsellorTroi

William comes from a background where it’s accepted, perhaps even traditional, for men, at least, to have affairs once heirs have been produced. Why should he be any different?
Because he’s a modern man brought up with far more interaction with the “real” world by his Mum than any previous generations, who saw first hand and no doubt psychologically damaged by witnessing the impact of his own parents’ infidelities which arguably ultimately ended up with his mother’s early death.
LondonLass61 · 23/03/2022 14:59

@Blinky21

I think she's a terrible role model for girls, she has never had a career, left uni and didn't work, instead choosing to wait around to be proposed to. She's also unnaturally thin. She has allowed whatever personality she may have had to be subsumed by her husband's family and has overlooked her husband's affair. I would hate my daughter to look up to her over a strong woman who has achieved on her own merit and hard work. And whatever people say, what the RF do is not work, not compared to most people
