Too shy to wear sunglasses? Anyone else?

I always wanted to wear sunglasses, but also feel like I look stupid in them. Every year I see all kinds of people wearing them, and I just think to myself gosh I wish I could do that. My face is round , and I just feel I’d look stupid in them. Im honestly thinking of buying a good pair this year, and just go for it. Does anyone else feel like this about sunglasses?

Literally anyone can wear them and they’re an easy way to look good.
Great if you’re shy as can hide behind them.

Changechangychange · 19/03/2022 12:51

I used to think I looked silly in them, but the actual problem is that my face doesn’t suit the Aviator styles I was trying on. Switched to Prada Jackie O style and I love them (not very fashionable at the minute but I stick with what suits me). Wear them all the time now.

Go up a price band, and try some different shapes/colours. Something is bound to look ok.

I feel like this as well!

I've got a tiny little head and glasses tend to look massive on me. I have one pair now that do fit but I always feel like I'm trying to look "cool" in them or something.

But yes, I feel awkward wearing them.

I always take them off to talk to people as well. I find it really difficult to hold a conversation if I'm wearing them or if I'm talking to someone that's wearing them. Not sure what's wrong with me 😂😂. Feels like it is a barrier between 2 people!

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/03/2022 12:59

I wear them all year round. I like giant ones. They hide a multitude of sins 🤷🏻‍♀️

Piggy666 · 19/03/2022 13:01

I wear mine all the time
Seriously no one take any notice
Find a pair you love and enjoy the sun without squinting 🙂

BOOTS52 · 19/03/2022 13:04

I have to wear them all the time as have light sensitive eyes that even those overly bright lights in supermarkets hurt my eyes it is painful. Go into Boots and try on loads of different pairs and find a pair that suits your face and that feel comfortable. I gave up buying expensive ones as always something happens to them but Boots have a good range of styles and prices and polaroid (is that what is called) so stops the glare.

Harridan1981 · 19/03/2022 13:08

I always put them on my head when talking to someone not wearing them though.

Coffeencrochet · 19/03/2022 13:10

I wear glasses anyway but like others have said, it's all about finding the right shape for your face. I get a prescription one from Specsavers and use this time to try different shaped ones on and see what works for me, rather than following trends and looking stupid Grin Now I'll wear them the minute the sun is out.

Overthegardenfence · 19/03/2022 13:11

And also I think I go a bit deaf when I wear sunglasses, does that happen to anyone else it’s weird.

Piggy666 · 19/03/2022 13:24

@Overthegardenfence

No but I might deliberately start 'cocking a deaf'un' once they're on my face. Sounds like a plan.
WorkingOnMyNightCheese · 19/03/2022 13:26

I LOVE sunglasses and wear them year round at the slightest hint of bright sun. I'm sensitive to light and feel weirdly exposed and pankicky if I'm caught out without a pair when the sun's out.

Just treated myself to a decent set today.

Im2022 · 19/03/2022 13:29

I wish I could wear sunglasses regularly, but I wear glasses, and I can’t switch between sunglasses and normal glasses. I only wear them when I have contact lenses in, and then I’m the opposite and hate taking them off, because I feel I look really odd without any kind of glasses on.

Winday · 19/03/2022 13:30

I couldn't be without mine. I've a round face too, but I buy a shape I like, and that suits me. The ones I have just now are a sort of cat eye, but not too extreme. They're essential for me to keep in the car. No one will look twice at you in your sunglasses, I promise.

Holothane · 19/03/2022 13:32

No they’re a life saver for me especially in the winter sun.

Lady0racle · 19/03/2022 14:00

I bloody love my oversize sunglasses. No need for eye makeup and I kid myself I look all chic and Parisian.

Honestly, nobody cares what you wear. Most people spend most of their time thinking about themselves.

TheGoogleMum · 19/03/2022 14:10

I'm shy but sunglasses are great to hide behind! I get nice big ones :)

BoredZelda · 19/03/2022 14:21

Why would you think people look stupid in sunglasses?

Cocolapew · 19/03/2022 14:26

I have no idea how anyone drives on a sunny day without them. I wear mine all year round, I'm squinting all the time otherwise.

Topseyt · 19/03/2022 14:29

I have to wear glasses all the time and I always buy reactions lenses whenever I have to replace them. They darken whenever I am outdoors, so you could say I wear sunglasses year round.

I love them, and they give my eyes good protection all the time. Very comfortable on my eyes and restful to wear.

Honestly, nobody else cares. Get some sunglasses. I think you can get plain (non-prescription) reactions ones too.

winniesanderson · 19/03/2022 14:30

I wear sunglasses most of the year as my eyes are light sensitive. I also have a very round face, I find wayfarer styles most flattering, anything else looks ridiculous.

1forAll74 · 19/03/2022 14:51

i have got some sun glasses, but I can' t see through them !! and i need to get real. I have been known to wear them over my normal quite strong prescription normal specs, which looks quite stupid. So going to have to buy some proper strong prescription sun glasses now. I use to have some normal glasses, that went darker in the sun. but they were not that good, and got fed up with them.

Rosesareyellow · 19/03/2022 14:53

Anyone can and should wear sunglasses (how do you even see without them when it’s really bright?)
As above, I’m quite shy and they actually make me feel better and more confident. They give you a bit of flare while hiding part of you at the same time 🤷‍♀️

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/03/2022 15:00

Sunglasses and lipgloss = perfect summer glamour.

FlowerTomb · 19/03/2022 15:01

My face is very round, it took me a while to find a pair of sunglasses that suit my face but I finally have and wear them almost every day. I still wore the ones that werent flattering on me every day, but feel a lot better in my new ones. Keep looking for the perfect ones! I kind of understand why you feel shy, but honestly no one notices or cares and the people who do notice are probably thinking what lovely sunglasses you have 😊

Stravaig · 19/03/2022 15:13

My current pair have mirrored rose lenses, so anyone looking only sees their own reflection ...
