When will the rules change as I completely agree this is unfair and I expect that you will all largely agree with me.

For anyone that doesn't agree, please explain your reasoning to help me better understand.

This reminds me of the weightlifting story from last year.

People that are born female and people who are born male should not be competing in these events together. Our physical bodies are not comparable.

Have as many genders as you can think of, but there are only two possible sexes that you can be born as and that is what eligibility in these competitions should be based on.

When I wrote two sexes I knew someone would pull me up but that was quick.

Aside from intersex there are predominantly two sexes for humans. Male or female. Read the nuance of the post.

There are plenty of other issues with this transgender athlete too. Such as the female swimmers feeling very uncomfortable at the erect penis of a straight make displayed in their changing rooms whilst they are changing, and they have been told saying anything / changing elsewhere is not an option.

I find this all particularly mind boggling considering that a few years ago the IOC banned a specific swimsuit because it was deemed to be too bouyant, and to be giving athletes an unfair advantage!

And according to the other swimmers this person frequently drops their towel in the changing room making it very clear to all that they still have a penis. So now some of the women don’t want to get changed there. Why would this swimmer do that?

If they did that in public and flashed it would be considered a crime but in a women's space the victims are considered the criminals if they complain.

DSD or VSD stand for Differences in sexual development Or Variations in sexual development

People born with DSD are still sexed male or female. There will always be a range of genetic variations - it’s how sexual reproduction works. The existence of people with DSDs is actually proof that there are two sexes.

Humans are mammals. We reproduce sexually.

I think that makes you a Cis woman...maybe my definition was clumsy, it's not my field of expertise!! Cis means you don't identify as something other than the gender assigned biologically to you, I guess?

I just don't understand this 'gender identity'. I mean, the only reason I know I am a women is because I have the body of a woman. I wear trousers and t-shirts, but like cooking and DIY and I am always the navigator on family days out. I mean, how does a person 'feel' like a man or a woman? How does a person 'live' like a man or a woman? It all sounds so sexist to say 'I wear a dress and like pink therefore I must be a woman and must change my body accordingly'.

My husband isn't a big man by any means and he will always be stronger than me and stronger than 99.9% of women.

Did you see the photo of that trans woman? Of course they have an inbuilt advantage of height and strength. It would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

It would be wonderful if women boycotted events like this, but why should they have to do that?

Ah ok , I didn't know they had changed the name of intersex . Makes sense to me they should have been one or thr other and their genetics will show this . The outside parts ( and some inside ) aren't formed correctly during development in utero.

Women in sport may as well pack up and go home. It is becoming pointless for them to compete.

So this athlete wants to be a woman but keeps their penis.

It’s completely unfair, and actually infuriating that this person undermines all the years of training these women have done. I have no issue with how people identify but can’t condone this. There needs to be a special category for trans athletes as that’s the only fair way. And the erect penis in the changing room sickens me. We have to protect these safe spaces for women. I have a young daughter and this terrifies me.
