When will the rules change as I completely agree this is unfair and I expect that you will all largely agree with me.

For anyone that doesn't agree, please explain your reasoning to help me better understand.

This reminds me of the weightlifting story from last year.

People that are born female and people who are born male should not be competing in these events together. Our physical bodies are not comparable.

Have as many genders as you can think of, but there are only two possible sexes that you can be born as and that is what eligibility in these competitions should be based on.

It ends by men competing against men and women competing against women. I used to swim at county level and despite being fat and 50 I am still pretty fast. My 6 ft 13 year old who has size 11 feet is starting to overtake me despite rarely swimming and not learning much technique.

Fair Sports have Mens and Women’s categories,
Men’s and boys muscle mass and skeletal development is so different to that of a Womans.

Sports should , if they want to be fair, have Transwomen classes.

It’s absolutely unfair, and just another way for people born male, whether that identify that way or not, to prevail over women who were born and live as a female.

I genuinely feel that women are supposed to just give up any space they hold without a murmur of objection.

There should be a grouping for trans athletes to compete together.

It’s nonsense to say that’s it’s all equal. Imagine putting a woman who identifies as a man in a boxing ring with Tyson Fury. It’s just unthinkable.

If an able bodied athlete decided to identify as disabled but clearly wasn't, would it be ok for them to compete against disabled athletes? There would be an outcry about how unfair that was. And rightly so.

The male category in sports should be changed to open so that any gender can compete in it and the female category should be women who were born female only (including IMO the likes of Castor Semenya who is XY but naturally higher testosterone due to internal testes (DSD)).

I see a couple of posters have linked the boys v women website where it shows, very starkly, how teenage boys can beat the records of female Olympians. In some of the event times compared, there had been a new World record set for a women's event but that time was still surpassed by an athletic teenage boy.

The difference in rankings for Lia Thomas is also just as stark. #462 in men's swimming. #1 in women's swimming.

There should be separate sporting competitions for transgender athletes. In the same way Paralympics have a distinct disadvantage in most sports against able bodied athletes, trans women should not be able to compete against women. Because they are men with a physical advantage.

And to further expand on the word cis, I've seen many posters on other threads insist that 'cis just means non trans'.

It doesn't.

Cis is a Latin prefix which means 'on this side of'. It is used (correctly) in scientific research to refer to chemical bonds. It was co-opted (incorrectly) by social science researchers around 1994 as an antonym for trans.

I've seen people (here and on other platforms) insist that women refer to themselves as cis against their will while simultaneously insisting that women refer to other people using their 'preferred pronouns', sometimes under threat of police action.

There are many transphobic and sexist man haters on MN which can mean the actual message gets lost.

I do not care what gender someone identifies as but I completely agree that biological men and women should not compete unless it’s a mixed sex competition.

Caitlin Jenner a famous ex Olympic champion and famous transgender person is very passionate about this which she gets hate for all of the time but as she’s an ex athlete she has more experience of this than most.

Are there any stats on how many times Transpeople don’t win at races? Maybe she was the best because she was so motivated and worked hard? It must take a lot of determination to be a trans athlete and maybe that determination is in her sport preparation too.

Except even thomas themselves admits that they don't have to train as hard.

There was a reason that male and females were separated in sporting events. For the very reason that men and women can not compete to the same level and it was unfair.

But now a biological male has decided he would like to identify as a woman, whilst retaining all of his biological male traits and compete in a Female event is absolutely ridiculous, and it actually makes a mockery of the rights women have fought to have.

I'm not interested in whether a man or women want to dress as the opposite see, do what ever makes you happy. However you can not expect them to compete against one another.
