Maybe you didn’t do it personally @slashlover (quite the username for an asexual incidentally) but the meaning you are using goes against, for example:
What do you think my username means?
• Collins Dictionary
ADJECTIVE
Someone who is asexual is not sexually attracted to other people.
• Britannica Dictionary
• Merriam-Webster
b: not having sexual feelings toward others : not experiencing sexual desire or attraction
It’s very rare for humans to genuinely be asexual. The few who are traditionally haven’t felt a need to announce it, because - due to their being asexual - they don’t enter into sexual relationships/relationships that might be expected to become sexual.
I'm "genuinely" asexual and don't appreciate your invalidation. By "announce it" do you mean tell people? Why would I not tell people?
First we had the “asexual people who will have sex with someone they really love”; now we have people claiming to be asexual while engaging in multi-partner casual sex; asexual + bi-lesbian; & basically “asexual in any other way you can think of that clearly isn’t actual asexuality”.
Link to someone saying this?
I don’t know why people who have sex are so desperate to label themselves as asexual given the use of the label is no longer rare & “special” & the simple act of having (consensual) sex nullifies its accuracy.
Sexuality is not the act. If someone is heterosexual and doesn't have sex then it doesn't make them any less heterosexual.
There are that many labels out there for sexualities now that coming up with another for “I identify as asexual but will have sex in these particular circumstances (& am not demisexual)” would only be a challenge linguistically: you will be brave & a hero (etc) - & if you’re first in you presumably get dibs on designing the flag.
There's already an asexual flag btw.
