Found a black hair grip …

DH is at work, I’m in the middle of a deep clean. Whilst I was hoovering I found in the corner of the bedroom, kind of camouflaged into the carpet a black hair grip/Bobby pin whatever they’re called.
I’m blonde and have always been blonde, my kids are toddlers so do not use hair grips. No one else has been in our bedroom that would explain it.
I’ve also been away all week with the kids.

Aibu to be suspicious??? I’m also pregnant so know I don’t think rationally sometimes atm

Yeah, those things are tiny, it could be from years ago or have got attached to anything and come into your room. I really wouldn't build a narrative of infidelty on that basis.

Marvellousmadness · 11/03/2022 13:05

If your mind goes to cheating straight away.... well... that's not a good sign on how your marriage is doing op

WTF is a 'Kirby' grip?

Hair grips, is what they are.

This entire thread is a study in how to turn a simple object into something a lot more complicated than it needs to be Hmm

Its what it's known as in Scotland, well where I am at least!
SlashBeef · 11/03/2022 13:07

Thunder flies, hair grips and glitter must be discounted in any crime scene.

Echobelly · 11/03/2022 13:07

As some have said, could totally have got lodged in the tread of a shoe.

I'm not sure I'd jump to conclusions over a Bobby pin, those things get everywhere. Come the apocalypse there'll just be them and the cockroaches left.
100% this! They really do end up everywhere. Of course, when you actually need one, they are nowhere to be found!

I'd chalk it up to a guest losing one, and a child (or cat in my household!) finding and playing with it until it ended up in the bedroom. If you have no reason to have been suspicious beforehand, it's probably not worth worrying about.

I last wore hair grips as a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding 6 years ago. I've had to confiscate at least 3 from my puppy over the past month, no idea where she's finding them!

Halllyup17 · 11/03/2022 13:10

Probably been there forever. I found a thong down the back of our radiator after three years of living here. Never occurred to me that it belonged to my husband's fancy woman.

ghislaine · 11/03/2022 13:10

My son is a total magpie and picks these up all the times in playgrounds as fidget toys. I often find them in the washing machine when they fall out of his trouser pockets. Perhaps one of your toddlers did the same?

This.

If I spent a fraction of a second wondering how random items came to be in my house, I would assume my DP were at it with every passing stranger.

the80sweregreat · 11/03/2022 13:11

Kirby clips , to be found in savers or Superdrug or any other store of this caliber , in fact most places and supermarkets etc do a version of these clips in different colours.
Probably cost loads these days along with everything else that's gone up in price !
I lose my hair bobbles all the time , they often show up in unusual places too!

Kirbygrip is the brand name which is now what most people call them...a bit like hoover/vacuum debate

Very true.
TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 11/03/2022 13:13

It's probably one of mine.

I swear I buy hundreds of these nuggets but they are never in my hair drawer when I want one! They are like socks...

So, you did know what a Kirby grip is after all.

I found a paper clip once

If it was dusty, it sounds innocent enough.

Probably put there to dry, and fell down the back, like socks do.

That's nothing, I found a nail clipping.
lborgia · 11/03/2022 13:17

Well, I can tell you right now where it all went wrong.

It's the vacuuming. Just don't do it.

You have a drawer for your hair? I'm impressed.
Thewindwhispers · 11/03/2022 13:22

Is your DH dark haored? Mine started using bobbypins during lockdown to keep his hair tidy during zoom calls when barbers were closed. He didn’t tell me cos embarrassed but I caught him putting them in 🤣

I agree. It's time to get the MN ducking stool out.

He has cheated - LTB
He has not cheated - the trust is gone, so LTB

You know what you've got to do, OP!!

VeganVampire · 11/03/2022 13:26

You should be very suspicious of them, they sneak in to the corner of rooms and quietly multiply, leaving you in a sea of bent wire unable to get back to your phone/laptop to check on your threads.

Pazuzu · 11/03/2022 13:26

He's having secret cross dressing orgies when you've nipped out to the shops. LTB.

Seriously, the damned things are like xenomorphs, you need to nuke them from orbit to make sure.
