To keep my socks on during a smear?

I don't even get half naked, Im def not taking of my socks. Knickers only and I put them in my bag.

I kept mine on. The lovely nurse said "bad enough having a smear, you don't want cold feet too"

Unfolded, and yes sort of stuffed inside my clothes as Dinoteeth says. Why do we do this stuff? It's made for a funny thread though

@daisyjgrey my feet aren't disgusting but all feet in general are. Same with eyeballs, just something about them that makes me shudder

What sensible shoes would women wear socks with? And I've never heard of wearing socks with boots.

Are you living in an alternate universe! A woman might wear socks with brogues, or mary janes, or loafers, or trainers, or with chelsea boots, or really almost any kind of boot.

I love the idea that no women wear socks. Presumably that poster os now having a lie down. The idea of wearing boots without socks has actually upset me a bit. I even wear socks over tights if I’m wearing boots and a dress - you can see them but it’s warmer and comfier.

I can't honestly remember what I did last time but I think I'd be socks off. Of course you put your knickers among clothes or at least fold them - depends on how big they are I guess! No-one wants to see your gusset, obviously!

I wear socks with pandas on them. No boring plain socks for me when I have a smear.

I didn’t realise so many women had the knicker angst as well as sock confusion. When I’m doing your smear I don’t even look as to where you’ve put your knickers, let alone whether they’re folded or stuffed! As long as you haven’t still got them on.

For the record, as a smear taker:

I don’t mind if you haven’t shaved your legs or done your bikini line.

I don’t mind if your pubic hair is natural, dyed, gone, tidy or rampant.

I don’t mind if you keep your socks on or take them off as long as you’re comfy.

I don’t mind if you haven’t showered as long as you’re generally clean, haven’t just had sex and if you’ve not got smelly feet that’s a bonus as my face is nearer your feet than your fanny.

I don’t mind if you want earbuds in to listen to music, or want to bring a friend or partner, or want to play a game on your phone to distract you.

I’m just glad you’re there 🙂

I was told once that the expression ‘died with their boots on’ was because cowboys used to wear their boots for so long with bare feet that their skin fused to the leather. 🤢

However, I can’t find any reference to this on t’internet so it might have just been a story to gross me out.

I am also a tucker-under of any and all removed underwear.

Last time I had a smear I put my knickers in my handbag without thinking...I must have looked like I was planning to do the Walk of Shame out of the GP surgery

Definitely either hide my knickers under my jeans or into my jeans sometimes

I don't think this is a bombshell along the lines of women don't wear socks but can I suggest if your smear is in Summer...you can just wear a long skirt and dress and just dispense with the knickers entirely

Last time I had a smear I worried about had I hidden knickers under clothes and worrying about my socks too. However when nurse came over she was far more interested in my large torso tattoo and intimate piercing (both 40th birthday presents to myself). I was so distracted by nurses questions about piercing and tattoo that I barely noticed the medical procedure, was the same at last gyne appointment.

I think Pinacolada is taking the piss, in all honesty.

I live in Australia - socks are all around! Women of all ages wear them!
Boots are MEANT to be worn with socks (unless the only boots you own are Uggs, or those awful things that have open toes and open heels)
ALL of my women friends have boots.

Maybe Pinacolada lives somewhere like Briiiighton, dahling. (See vid for reference)

Are you a nurse ? That’s a good thing to write isn’t it when many woman are already too self conscious and nervous to go for a smear.
