To think Stanley Tucci is basically the answer to the question What Do Women Want From A Man?

He's talented, charming, cultured, funny, stylish, easy on the eye, exudes bonhomie, loves food and drink and travel and history. Basically the ideal dinner date. Masculine without being macho, intelligent without being overbearing, sociable and talkative without being a loudmouthed idiot.

AIBU to say that he's perfect husband material?

I’ve got one.

Older Steve Carrell. For his humour, intelligence, beard and glasses. And the way he looks at his wife is EVERYTHING.

CaveMum · 07/03/2022 16:26

He’s also very funny in a small part in Shall We Dance, playing a wannabe Latin American lethario opposite Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez.

Ahhhh I think he's wonderful and I'd genuinely feel sad if he turned out to not be One Of The Good Ones

OP, yesterday I was watching something on Netflix with DH and when it was over the TV jumped to normal channels. A man was on, talking, for a few seconds before I thought: wow, so clever, lovely voice, great eyes, who is he? It was Stanley Tucci. Bloody talented in so many ways.

Libertybear80 · 07/03/2022 16:29

Nah!

TabithaTittlemouse · 07/03/2022 16:30

I fell in love with him the minute I saw the devil wears Prada.

CandyLeBonBon · 07/03/2022 16:31

I LOVE Stanley Tucci!!

TammyOne · 07/03/2022 16:32

Oooh ANY age Steve Carrell. I love him in Dan in Real Life. I'll fight you for him.

@Bellalastrasse

Glad to see the Mark Strong appreciation (or Toska as we will forever be known). Just had to rewatch Tinker, Tailor.

No idea what it is about him but it’s there (sigh)

I met Mark Strong at a theatre opening 20ish years ago. My friend, who was 3 sheets to the wind, pushed me in front of him and told him I had really fancied him in Our Friends In The North. He was gracious but really embarrassed - I was pretty good looking back then, so it wasn't a totally awful thing to happen to an actor! I was really embarrassed though, because friend had got it wrong, it was Daniel Craig (Geordie) from OFITN whom I had had the hots for. Blushes all round and I scuttled out of the situation as fast as I could!
2018SoFarSoGreat · 07/03/2022 16:42

I'm with you, OP. He's a lot like my DH (except mine has lots of hair) but I do very much like that wiry, educated, food loving kind of man.

BluesCluesToo · 07/03/2022 16:46

Just googled the Mark Wahlberg inc8dent and I'm shocked. What a nasty piece of work he is.

MurmuratingStarling · 07/03/2022 16:46

Mark Strong does nothing for me either. Sorry.

KarmaisSweet · 07/03/2022 16:54

@Draineddraineddrained

Glad you said this. Have always loved ST 's acting since Murder One but after watching his food programme the other night I was looking at him in a very different way... thought it was an age thing!!!

JaneJeffer · 07/03/2022 17:39

I thought he was gay.

UthredofBattenberg · 07/03/2022 17:56

No, you may not introduce anyone to Mark Strong. That voice...Wink

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 07/03/2022 17:56

No he does nothing for me. I will always see him as a blue-wigged, very camp Ceasar Flickerman.

UthredofBattenberg · 07/03/2022 17:57

Oh, the quote reply didnt appear, that was to PP Smile

stuntbubbles · 07/03/2022 18:21

Stanley Tucci in Easy A is perfection; the perfect man.

Through several degrees of separation he was involved in a charity project I worked on and was hugely generous with his time and efforts.

Would also climb Andrew Garfield like a tree.

VitalsStable · 07/03/2022 18:23

Yes. I pretended I was making groaning noises over the pasta but I really wasn't. He's definitely a hot older man.

Nemorth · 07/03/2022 18:24

@ChiefWiggumsBoy

He does nothing for me. I also dislike severely age gap relationships so am massively put off Patrick Stewart as well even though he seems like a good egg in general.

Kurt Cobain is my fantasy man. Shame he’s dead.

I disapprove of the age gap relationship too...but only because it's not me!

PS is 37 years older than me...

VitalsStable · 07/03/2022 18:29

I think Patrick Stewarts account of him finding out he wasn't circumcised which he recounted on Graham Norten was one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

FatOaf · 07/03/2022 18:29

Stanley Tucci is an actor. A very, very good one.

I haven't seen Searching for Italy but I'd imagine he's playing a similar character to the one he played in Julie & Julia. Would you be so besotted if he were playing the role he played in The Lovely Bones or in Downfall?

YouSetTheTone · 07/03/2022 18:30

@maras2

I fell for him after watching Murder One in 1995. It was a weird program but quite ground breaking, definitely 'appointment TV' and much discussed next day at work.
Yesss! I loved this programme! The bald main character had a bit of something IIRC… weird crush territory though. (Bald main character of Murder One not ST).
