To think Stanley Tucci is basically the answer to the question What Do Women Want From A Man?

He's talented, charming, cultured, funny, stylish, easy on the eye, exudes bonhomie, loves food and drink and travel and history. Basically the ideal dinner date. Masculine without being macho, intelligent without being overbearing, sociable and talkative without being a loudmouthed idiot.

AIBU to say that he's perfect husband material?

I do love his current show about Italian food and he does come across as a great “raconteur” as my late MIL would say.

My totally random “6 degrees of separation” is that I used to work with a woman whose daughter is a writer (can’t remember her name but she’s had 2/3 successful fiction books). Said daughter’s agent is Felicity Blunt and she was invited to her wedding to Stanley Tucci Grin

Nonotnownorman · 07/03/2022 15:19

@Sparklingbrook

I’m sticking with Rob Lowe. For the looks alone.
I don’t want to be like @notacooldad and break hearts so I won’t mentioned the ‘sex tape’ of the threesome with an underage girl (and then calling it the best thing that had ever happened to him) and the alcoholism…
Sparklingbrook · 07/03/2022 15:21

I know all about the sex tape thanks @Nonotnownorman and indeed his problems with drink. There's not much i don't know about him TBF.

TizerorFizz · 07/03/2022 15:22

Stanley Tucci is married to Emily Blunt’s sister. His first wife died. Wait until you see his blue velvet jacket when he visits the Missonis in the Milan episode. DH under instructions to get one!

Flippy87 · 07/03/2022 15:23

I love Stanley Tucci, I think he’s seriously underrated

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 07/03/2022 15:26

He does nothing for me. I also dislike severely age gap relationships so am massively put off Patrick Stewart as well even though he seems like a good egg in general.

Kurt Cobain is my fantasy man. Shame he’s dead.

AlisonDonut · 07/03/2022 15:29

@HelenWick

Fuck no! Keanu, Keanu is always the answer to this question
This is what I came on to say.
whirlyhead · 07/03/2022 15:29

I am a sucker for a man who can speak another language I must admit.

However, I'd rather swoon over Pierce Brosnan and his wonderful hair...

@gracedentssketty

I love ST's Italy programme but I am also rather in love with Mark Wahlberg.
God I love MW. I'm old enough to remember him prancing around in his Calvin's with his Funky Bunch and always found him easy on the eye. I love how he makes films which are so bad they're great, perfect Friday night tv, and doesn't take himself too seriously. He's been in something recently - I'll be honest, they all blend into one same plot kind of film so for the life of me can't remembered title - where he and his wife got, shall we say, fruity? Over a bathroom sink. God I was jealous.

But yes, ST until I read upthread about his affair I used to quite fancy. Alas, no more, what a git Sad

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 07/03/2022 15:37

@AmbushedByCake

I know almost nothing about Andrew Garfield so I can carry on believing that he is the perfect man. Hot, muscled but not ridiculously so, sense of humour, plays piano and sings, doesn't seem to get involved in scandals or make a tit of himself on social media. Perfection as far as I know.
I saw him being interviewed on Channel 4 News last week and he spoke so movingly about his mum who recently passed away. Seems like lovely fella.
Herewegoagain84 · 07/03/2022 15:37

I’m inclined to agree with you and have been enjoying the Italy programme - though felt it really jarring when his wife joined in a couple of episodes - felt like she was trying too hard / overcompensating, and he wasn’t hugely engaged with her as he was a presence in itself (if that makes sense!).

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/03/2022 15:40

That steak they ate in Florence ShockShock Last supper stuff for sure.

Do you know about the incident mark wallberg was involved in? Also how he tried to get pardoned I think for it?

Rosehugger · 07/03/2022 15:42

I only spotted him in Julie and Julia and he was such a lovely character in that. He also came across well on Saturday Kitchen. So this latest Italian series was a must see for me. Food, tick. Italy, tick, Tucci, tick. It has not disappointed so far.

To anyone enjoying this series I would also recommend the series on Venice and also the one on the whole of Italy by Francesco da Mosto, who is also very charming.

Hobbesmanc · 07/03/2022 15:45

Just finished his book Taste- very good read. Autobiographical combined with recipes. He comes across very engagingly

Motherofgorgons · 07/03/2022 15:46

I love Stanley. I listened to a podcast with him and he just came across as swooningly intelligent, suave and funny. I have always gone for character actors over conventional leading men. I also like David Suchet when he is not Poirot.Confused

Draineddraineddrained · 07/03/2022 15:47

Oh lord didn't realise PT was married to an actual child (well ok she's about 5 years older than me but he's flipping ancient). Another apparent legend I now have to somewhat disapprove of Sad

Erm nope.

Off to google and have my illusions trashed, I'm guessing ...

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 07/03/2022 15:52

Ugghh. Yep, definitely shattered.

CaveMum · 07/03/2022 15:53

@Rosehugger totally agree about Francesco di Mosta. We loved his series on Venice so much we bought it on DVD back in the day, and his general “Francesco’s Italy” is also very good.

Rosehugger · 07/03/2022 15:59

There is also a very nice coffee table book on the Venice series @CaveMum.

He is good in Julie and Julia. I liked him in Big Night too, about… two Italian American brothers opening a restaurant.
nzborn · 07/03/2022 16:07

Absolutely agree with you,habba habba

Twoweeksandcounting · 07/03/2022 16:08

Stanley Tucci… Mark Strong… either… both 🤷🏼‍♀️

There is something incredibly sexy about Mark Strong’s voice.

MurmuratingStarling · 07/03/2022 16:16

@Draineddraineddrained

Well he doesn't do anything for me personally. But he seems nice, and is decent looking, and a good actor, and has been in some good films. But unless you know him, I think YABU to assume he is a wonderful man, and 'perfect husband material.' You literally know nothing about him really, so cannot possibly know that.

JMHO.
