Wedding breakfast is at 4:30pm.

Evening food will be wedding cake and some cheese.

AIBU to think I am going to have to bring along a sandwich and some late night snacks?

@CheshireChat

But there is no main meal? So just some breakfast and a supper with cheese and that?
Breakfast is rhe bame for the meal after a wedding, it is not literally a breakfast. If you think of it as a three course sit down dinner it would be an accurate description.

The “wedding breakfast” is just the name for the first meal after the couple get married. It’s a full meal. Not breakfast.

Did you miss the stack of posts explaining this?

Aztecprint6 · 06/03/2022 17:19

@PinkNails1

What are you having for the wedding breakfast? You’ll probably be served around 5pm so why don’t you have breakfast and lunch? You won’t starve. Maybe pack a cereal bar for later in the evening (I hate cheese).

You’re on Mumsnet where women seem to live on salads and air. I’m underweight and eat 3 meals and some snacks and… gasp I have a snack after 8pm!!

Don’t know, the menu hasn’t been shared with the invitation.

A wedding breakfast is usually a sit down or buffet affair. It's not exactly a slice of toast! I'm sure you can survive! Wedding cake is filling as is a cheese board.

First World issues!

PurpleDaisies · 06/03/2022 17:20

Wedding cake is filling as is a cheese board.

I don’t find cake filling at all.

PuppyMonkey · 06/03/2022 17:21

I think what this thread is missing is more people condescendingly explaining the phrase wedding breakfast. So it’s definitely not just Weetablix and toast then?Grin

angieloumc · 06/03/2022 17:21

@MyDcAreMarvel

Most do not pudding every day , except maybe some children. If you start eating normally now op your body will adjust to normal portions by the wedding.
The OP doesn't say she's doesn't eat 'normal' portions. Talk about trying to make someone feel bad about their diet.

The wedding breakfast is a main meal 🤣

It isn't a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes and a slice of toast with marmalade, it is a three or four course meal. Sometimes with canapés served before too. It is called breakfast as it is the first meal of the marriage.

It’s not condescending to answer people’s questions about what it is.
Aztecprint6 · 06/03/2022 17:22

@PuppyMonkey

Confused at OP here. You’ll be “starving” at 9-ish. So by that logic, you usually have your evening meal at 7pm and you’re always starving again at midnight?
Yep?

Ohfgsnotagain · 06/03/2022 17:22

Why? How much would you normally eat between 4.30pm and bed? Wedding breakfast will probably be 3 courses spaced over 1.5 and 2 hours....that takes you to approx 6.30pm. Do you normally eat a ‘buffet’ in the evening?

EmpressSuiko · 06/03/2022 17:22

So dinner is at 4:30 and then there’s some light snacks and cake in the evening?
Is there going to be a 3 course meal for the “breakfast”?
It sounds perfectly fine to me but no harm in you packing snacks in case you do get hungry lster

So what would you eat at midnight on a normal day then OP?

luckylavender · 06/03/2022 17:24

I'm struggling to see why you'll be starving.

BlondeWidow · 06/03/2022 17:25

What in heck's name is a 'Wedding Breakfast!?' and why is a breakfast being served in the afternoon?

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 06/03/2022 17:25

Starving is really disrespectful to those who are actually starving. Not just a bit hungry yet able to eat a sandwich if they so wish

SirChenjins · 06/03/2022 17:25

It’s an early dinner that will stretch on as these things usually do, then cake and cheese (I imagine there will be something to go with the cheese like bread or something - it won’t just be a wedge of Stilton). Buy some sandwiches for lunch.

PurpleDaisies · 06/03/2022 17:26

Cancel the cheque.
MyDcAreMarvel · 06/03/2022 17:26

@Aztecprint6 You should try it some time hun oh I have, that’s exactly my point it’s an every now and again thing, not daily. Get some help with you food issues and you will enjoy the day much more.

Darbs76 · 06/03/2022 17:26

I eat around 5pm most days and don’t eat again until the next day, so I wouldn’t have a problem

SartresSoul · 06/03/2022 17:27

So you’re eating a meal at 4:30 with cake and cheese in the evening and you think you’ll be starving? No, you definitely won’t be.

PurpleDaisies · 06/03/2022 17:28

Do people really not get that not everyone has the same appetite across a whole day? How can anyone say for certain that another person won’t be hungry? Confused

Dumdeedahdumdeedo · 06/03/2022 17:28

How much do you normally eat?!
No wonder the majority of the country is obese

Fucking rude. Did it make you feel better about yourself saying that?

Other people have asked how much the OP eats too. How is that relevant?

I'm recovering from anorexia and I'm supposed to eat 8 times a day. 4 meals and 4 snacks. So this "how much do you eat, no wonder the majority of the country is overweight" is bollocks. Everyone has different eating patterns and different appetites

OP if your worried id definetly take snacks in your handbag, if you don't need them that's great but if you do you'll be glad you brought them

BOOTS52 · 06/03/2022 17:28

Usually by the time you get to eat dinner everyone is starving as an early start with usually just a quick breakfast. Bring few snacks and if you are staying in hotel bring a sandwich and put in fridge in hotel room. Usually here they do lots of food later in the night as know everyone be starving after the drinks and everyone seems to enjoy that more.
