To think Linda Evangelista still looks great?

I've always loved Linda Evangelista and recently read her Instagram posts in which she refers to herself as 'disformed' and I'd really expected her to look completely different. I've just seen some photos of her taken recently and she still looks amazing, she's 56 and whilst not quite the supermodel she once was she's still a really beautiful woman. And whiIe I know if must be different for her as her face was literally her fortune and I'm in no way trying to imply that what she's been through and continues to got through isn't really traumatic for her but more that it's a really sad state of affairs when a woman feels so unattractive and unhappy when she starts to look her age.

She’s got hard, painful bulges over her body, and she does look quite different in real life versus the airbrushed magazine covers and Instagram shots. Add to that the fact that her industry peers are still walking runways and doing editorials. She’s of course going to be devastated.

This was her in 2015, just before she had coolsculpt.

It's hard protruding body lumps due to surgery gone wrong she's talking about. She's not saying she's deformed just because she looks older.

I am not knocking anyone who has these procedures (I get it!) but if ultra rich celebrities end up being deformed and looking weird then there isn’t much hope for the rest of us. I doubt Madonna is happy by the @Wagsandclaws every photo she posts is so heavily edited she looks about 18. I think deluded might be the word, I think some of these people would look better I’d they had done nothing. Katie Price certainly would..

She looks beautiful in thar picture. I didn't think the surgery had any effect on her face?

Those pictures were too much, too absolutely weird. We expect some filtering and Photoshopping (it used to be called airbrushing) but those pictures were just ridiculous. We know how old you are, Madge, and you could still sell out the Albert Hall.

I have a theory that when you’re young, if you don’t smile, you look sultry. Hence all the pouting photos of teens and twentysomethings. When you get older, if you don’t smile you just look grumpy. I used to hate my smile but now look shite in photos if I’m not smiling. I think Linda E has the kind of beauty that is more sultry, hence is harder to get right with ageing. So maybe that’s why she had the surgery, which is a shame, which she must really regret. I think the other 90s supermodels looked a bit more cheerful, hence less affected by age.

Unfortunately she had it done on her chin, and the bulges that formed have had an impact on her facial proportions.

I also felt so sorry for Bridget Fonda as she was living a private life and did not court the media but was also shocked that she had let herself go so much. Hope that does not sound mean but cannot be that happy if has put on that much weight. But really mean of the papers. Men don't get the same scrutiny as women as they age so not fair at all.

She did say she had a botched 'fat-freezing' surgery.
I think looking at this photo, most people would agree that she looks awful compared to how she used to look. So much older (well she is now in her 50's), plain and fuller when she's always been super slim.

This is vanity. The surgery and procedures she had were unnecessary. None of this is normal. Honestly, it’s better to be average as there is nothing to “lose”. Invest the money in improving your personality

You're not wrong, but the woman was a professional model and not just that, but one of the supermodels of the 90s. In her case, the psychological process is a bit more complicated than merely being vain.

And assuming you're average too (like me), it's hard to say what's better as we don't know what it's like to be that beautiful.

She looks quite good in the photos to me but I think a lot of that is hair make up and knowing how to pose for the camera. The before photos upthread are her in her 40s, now she's what 56? so a lot of women find they would look a fair bit older anyway between those ages because of the menopause. Must be awful to have to age in the public eye though. As for botched procedures it's enough to put me off cosmetic surgery even if I could afford it!

The photo you're talking about is the year before, look at her face in the AFTER photo. She looks like a totally different person.

She looks OK. A huge step down from what she used to look like. Look at Cindy Crawford. She basically looks the same as she did. It must be hard if she's comparing herself to other models.
I think it is worse because some of the other supermodels look amazing and are still modelling Naomi Campbell still looks stunning

@Lampzade Naomi Campbell is balding through the overuse of extensions and weaves. I remember seeing candid pictures of her on the beach years ago. Annoyingly she still managed to look good. There always seems to be a pay off with these self improvement procedures. It’s a bit of a gamble whether it improves or destroys your looks.

Menopause can certainly age you almost overnight. Not that I'm playing down her issues though. I've seen pictures of lumps on her thigh as well as the ones underneath her arms which look very unpleasant.

No. She even dieted to the point of not eating but the lumps will never go. She tried surgery to reverse the effects but it didn't work. It's not like normal fat.
