What the hell was Liz Truss thinking!!?

So yesterday in a few interviews Liz Truss said she would support people going to fight in Ukraine. I couldn't believe it when i was watching her saying it, knowing Putins threats. This morning i've heard that apparently Putin has said that her comments are the reason he put his nuclear deterrent forces on high alert. So now it feels like if he was to attack any other country it would be the UK as he would use her comments as an excuse by saying the UK is threatening his country and people by letting people go and fight against the Russian army. Honestly how could she be that stupid!!

Putin knows a lot of billionaires who like their lifestyles very much. He can control them at the moment. His threats work. If he actually tried to use nuclear weapons he would lose control of those people. They don’t want a tanked world economy. No one wants a radioactive super-yacht. They’d have nothing left to lose.

She wasn't thinking. She doesn't even know the law. Total numpty

What ever I think of the Tories and truss is separate from this.

This is Russian propaganda trying to turn nato civilians against our leaders. They have a game plan and know exactly how to respond and undermine to help them win.

May have escaped your notice but no one is playing the softly softly approach but when as FS you think Moldova is in NATO or you encourage british citizens to break the law and fight under a foreign flag, its time to resign.

Liz Truss is not the problem however low your opinion is of her. The problem is the nut job in the Kremlin who is threatening to scweam and scweam and scweam until he's sick if he doesn't get his own way. There is no reasoning with unreasonable people. Reasonable people do not invade other countries and threaten nuclear war if you don't let them get away with it.

We already fell for their tactics when brexit happened and the tories allowed themselves to be bought by russian oligarch's money. Nevertheless I think the woman is incompetent and Putin really doesn't give a damn about her.

Making Russia a pariah state and sanctioning Oligarch wealth is the best we can do in the long term.

If you are blaming Liz Truss for provoking Putin then yes you absolutely are playing into Putin's hands. She may be incompetent and guilty of many things but her statements are not what triggered Putin to up the ante, they are merely an excuse. People here seem to want her head on a platter, their anger is misdirected.

Why are you blaming Liz Truss?
Putin is the abuser and violent perpetrator and is just gaslighting Liz Truss as an abusive husband would do.
If you noticed Putin blames everybody but himself for the atrocities he inflicts upon other people.

This is a fascinating thread, for all the wrong reasons. Liz Truss was asked a question, she answered it. She did NOT say that people should go, did she? And why no brickbats for the so called 'journalist' who asked the bloody question in the first place? Is this the time for stupid gotcha questions? No it most assuredly is not.
As for the idea that she should apologise to old Bunker Baby (as my daughter calls him), whoever suggested that can sod right off. We should not appease bullies, ever.
