Just been reading up on this and it's fascinating.

One of mine is the monopoly man not having a monocle, I could've swore he did.

Anyone else have any good ones?

I'm sure I remember the Avril Lavigne one, too, and can only assume for some reason two videos were made (maybe one had to be pulled for legal reasons? Maybe one was for US audiences and another for MTV Europe, or something?).

I agree that our brain is conflating 52 weeks in a year and 52 US states.

I'm pretty sure cheese 'n' onion crisps were in a green packet at some point. I don't know why Walkers switched (yellow dye issues?) but the fact they're mostly all blue now is surely because you'd want to ape the market leader.

'Risky Business' is bizarre. Instantly identifiable with a white shirt and sunglasses. Wouldn't have a clue who someone was if they turned up at a fancy dress party wearing a pink shirt with no shades.

Freddie definitely sang "of the world" at the end on Live Aid. I just watched it on YouTube.

I’m not suggesting no one saw the second plane but it was not headline news internationally until after the second plane hit as there was no concern that this was an attack it was thought to be an accident.

What many of us saw was a repeated live CNN report (and many of us will have seen that a number of times) and given the enormity what we saw can alter how we remember what was happening to our own lives

This isn't quite true. I got a text message from my boyfriend at the time, saying a plane has hit WTC in America. I had no idea what he meant and thought it was the opening to bad joke do asoed what the punchline was, he said no joke its on tye news. Shortly after got anithet message oh my god a 2nd place has hit.

so yes it was being reported internationally after the 1st plane so a lot would have been watching the 2nd plane hit as there were news crews there by this point.
The WTC was a well-known building internationally and featured in the skyline of many films so it was a big thing even if a plane hit by accident.

For people who wholeheartedly believe they remember something that proves to be completely wrong (like Mandela dying in prison or Walkers changing the colour of their cheese and onion crisp packets) - is your conclusion to all this “gosh, isn’t it interesting how fallible human memory is”, or do you actually believe you have slipped into a parallel dimension?

If link doesn't work search We are the champions on revenge of the nerds - this song is played at the end, I grew up watching this film and Freddie singing 'of the world' so unless this is a sound alike re-recording this song then some people are wrong.

Sorry if someone got there before me, I just couldn't not find the evidence as I could hear it so clearly in my head 😂

I’ve just listened to We are the champions on Queen’s YouTube channel and the official video really doesn’t have a “of the world” at the end Confused - but the live aid video and the official live video both do so I’m inclined to believe that Freddie added it himself?

My false memory - not sure if shared with anyone else - is that I was certain that Fidel Castro had died, I even remembered his funeral, so I was quite surprised when he actually died Grin

Mine is Fidel Castro , I was convinced he was still alive!

Walkers have said they never had c&o in green packet,its always been blue but other brands did have green packets.

I had a quiz question about this the other day and couldn’t remember if he was dead or not. But that’s just my memory failing!

My own personal one is about season two of a show I was watching.

Went back to re-watch this show and got to the end of season one and went to look for season two and it wasn’t there. I eventually googled to find where I could watch it and it doesn’t exist. But I can tell you exactly how it ended. 😆

What's the show? If it's Firefly, it definitely only had one season, but there is a follow-up film called Serenity.

You might be thinking of the book called Sex in the City by Armistead Maupin, which pre-dates SATC. There was a recent rubbish dramatisation of it.

Ok I always had the horrible memory of Piggy’s death in Lord of the Flies where after he fell his head opened “and pink stuff came out” but I was astonished to reread it the other day and it was “stuff came out and turned red”. Gross anyway. But i think all this tine I thought his brains came out when it was blood?

They really weren’t. People think they were because virtually every other brand, including supermarket own brands, uses green for Cheese and Onion - probably because they followed the format used by Golden Wonder. ‘Why do Walkers use blue for Cheese and Onion?’ was a common question when I was young… I think over time it’s become confused with ‘When did Walkers change to blue?’ The answer is ‘Never’.

It has a similar rhythm to Relight My Fire abs Louise released a cover of Let’s Go Round Again around the same time.

Walkers never changed to blue. All or most of the other brands c/o were green. Walkers took over a lot of brands hence now blue

They did! Didn’t they? I remember it, I can hear it…
