Just that really. Sociopathic Patel refusing visas. In a time where we need leadership & empathy & intelligence there's a ducking idiot at the helm & Rees~Mogg making a fortune with insider trading.
Who the hell will admit to being so sociopathically selffish & grabby to still vote Tory?

I'm glad we have @ Clavinova on these threads. Her absolute slavish devotion to the Tory party is a good reminder that lots of voters are like this (although, admittedly, her devotion is at the very far end).

Why would I vote for Labour now? I have dc at private school, live on the Surrey border, drive my car every day - and Keir Starmer thinks 1 in 1,000 women has a penis. I would never have voted for Jeremy Corbyn's Labour. I was quite keen on Nick Clegg in 2010 and didn't mind Tony Blair in 1997.

Most labour supporters I know have children in private school and drive cars, take flights etc

@Clavinova I’m not a slavish Labour voter and will vote tactically to ensure that a government gets in which is less selfish and harmful than the current one. Which would include Starmer’s Labour even if not by as much as I’d like.

You appear to be voting on self interest and fuck the poor, & disabled, fuck the environment and our children’s future - in fact fuck anyone that isn’t you. Fair enough, it’s a democracy vote for whoever you will, but know that we see you for what you are.

What rubbish. No doubt it’s their taxes paying for 54% of adults to do absolutely nothing.

Enterthewolves · 24/10/2023 20:47

I‘m a higher rate tax payer, so is my husband, so are many of our friends - none of us will vote Tory because we are appalled by their destruction of the NHS, their heartlessness, their financial mismanagement and their failure to respond in any real way to climate change.

Thing is, if the Tories taxed private school fees, hiked up and out ULEZ and well, I can't really say anything about women's rights, the whole trans shit show has unfolded under the Tories but never mind, I'll ignore that, Clav would absolutely 100% be voting for them and cheering them along. I know that, she knows that and most importantly, the Tory party know that. They know they have zero work to do with voters like Clav. Likewise the Labour Party and some of their voters.

Maybe he understands the basic economics of higher education. We now have a society in which the minimum qualification for many jobs is a degree. That genie’s been out of the bottle for so long that unfortunately it can never be put back.

Self interest?
Is that why you bought 45 toilet rolls in a Covid panic buying spree?

Blimey, that was a bit random.

Not really - we were down to a box of tissues at one point. Grin

Zonder · 24/10/2023 22:02

You seem quite naive if you are unaware that many people get themselves into unnecessary debt by spending on luxuries essentials they can't really afford due to the cost of living crisis and the government not ensuring everyone gets a living wage.

Fixed that for you, @Clavinova

Fuck me 54% of adults do nothing?

Notonthestairs · 24/10/2023 22:41

No.

"The analysis produced by the think tank Civitas contends that 36 million Britons, or 54 per cent, live in households that get more out than they put in. This finding may well appeal to those who reckon the country consists of lazy, feckless scroungers on the take from hard-working people like them.
At risk of spoiling the fun, the truth is a little more prosaic. For one, Civitas gets to its 54 per cent figure by counting not only pensions and welfare payments but ‘benefits in kind’, i.e. the ‘imputed value’ of the NHS treatment, state education and social care each household receives. "

Previously Labour were my second team if you like but Sir Kid Starver is just a Tory in a red tie.

Very astute observation op.

Notonthestairs · 24/10/2023 22:49

One million children experienced destitution in 2022.

Enterthewolves · 24/10/2023 23:00

@Clavinova - random insult. I wasn’t stockpiling loo roll or pushing old ladies over to get bread. I was working to ensure vulnerable people were housed, fed and had access to medical and other care. What were you doing? Furloughed while the rest of us worked perhaps? Or were you an essential worker? In which case your views are even odder.

Firstly a lot of people could afford holidays in recent years who absolutely can't now.

Secondly how do you know they weren't photos at the beach at Grandma's house? And could you read the date stamp?

You are coming over as really desperate to show how cold hearted you are.

Yes you did. I bet you agonised over school catchment areas, organic wine and handmade kitchens as well.

Why don't you spend less on luxuries for yourself and give more money to charity?

Enterthewolves · 24/10/2023 23:39

They had personal debts that were manageable - as do most people

You have no idea whether that statement is true or not - lots of people have personal debts (spent on holidays/cars/clothes/phones etc.) that are not really manageable even if they are working.

That's such a typically Tory approach to inconvenient facts. Focus on monstering the family in the article, ignore the 1 million children living in destitution in Tory Britain.
