To wear tights with knickers?

Someone said you're not supposed to wear underpants when wearing tights - that they are 'pantyhose' with the pants built in. Have I been doing it wrong all my life?

I've googled and there seem to be different opinions, but I wanted to see the percentage split. AIBU TO wear tights with underpants underneath?

Hose means any sort of tights or stockings. Panty means underpants. They are stockings with pants.

Ugh all I can think of is how sweaty and thrushy no knickers with tights would be. Awful.

Some tights have a built in cotton gusset area (posh ones) but you are meant to wear knickers with the others because your pubes work their way through the weave and then act like a wax strip when you got for a wee. Not fun!

Hose is a collective word for socks/tights/stockings, at least in British English. Probably comes from the historical use to describe any sort of men's trousers.

Isn't the hose in pantyhose short for hosiery which is the collective for tights / stockings etc?

As for the OP. I'm not sure they are genuine (understatement of the century!)
