To wear tights with knickers?

Someone said you're not supposed to wear underpants when wearing tights - that they are 'pantyhose' with the pants built in. Have I been doing it wrong all my life?

I've googled and there seem to be different opinions, but I wanted to see the percentage split. AIBU TO wear tights with underpants underneath?

This last year or so, I've gone commando under tights and leggings,

I cannot tell you how much more comfortable it is. Turns out that the layers annoy, rather than the tights themselves.

Without underwear, the tights are much less sweaty and confining. Same as leggings.

I was alive before stocking tights were a thing and they were NEVER designed to be work without knickers. Peter O'Donnell in one of his Modesty Blaise books said that she wore "combined panty stockings" but I never saw them for sale.

As soon as I wear tights there is promptly a hole ripped into where the pants part should be but it's a personal preference I guess whatever you feel comfortable in!

There were some for sale in the late sixties/early 70s, with a lace knicker section in the sort of nylon lace used for knickers at the time, not lace effect tights fabric and then tights fabric legs. The knicker area was coloured differently to the tights, eg pink with skintone tights. My aunt had some, I remember her showing my Mum.

Mark's and Spencer's do some with cotton pants built in then nylon tights

The folks that wear two pairs of pants, why not just buy a larger size of tights? That's what I do, they don't fall down/sag.

Yes to knickers! The cotton gusset panel on tights is not sufficient for my needs.

Has to be with knickers, I couldn't bear the chafing on my bare vag.

My mum brought me up to wear knickers, tights and then another pair of knickers to keep the tights up!

Knickers on the outside of tights?! I don't understand that at all. My tights are mainly too smooth and I think the outerknicks would slip down. Just buy tights that fit.
