What’s the thing you fantasise about but probably wouldn’t do

Mine’s taking a day of annual leave from work. Getting on the train and doing my normal commute to work in the city. But then checking into a hotel, getting in my pjs, watch telly all day, order room service and sleep. Then get dressed at the end of the day and do my commute home. No one would know. 🤣 What’s yours?

Exacting revenge on all the people who have slighted me over the years. Never would because it’s 99% petty stuff they probably don’t even remember.

@Sparklingbrook

I'd quite like to send DS's primary school teacher who was awful to him for 2 years (and completely knocked his confidence taking a very long time to recover from) a picture of him in his cap and gown holding his Masters certificate.
Do it!
Userdeniedit99 · 25/02/2022 10:04

@IWannaGoToTheSpa you could easily do the sneaky hotel idea but you would be limited for time in the working day and surely there wouldn't be enough time to have a decent sleep and watch TV and have room service, You might end up clock watching all day, conscience of the time and the need to get home at your normal time. I think the day/time would pass too quickly and you wouldn't have time to really enjoy/appreciate the experience/time.

Sparklingbrook · 25/02/2022 10:08

@lucillelarusso they would probably not remember him to be honest. He wasn't one of their star pupils, completely under the radar. Until he started falling behind and although the class consisted of 15 pupils and a TA she 'didn't have the time to help him'.

I would like to seek out the vindictive woman hating boss I had when I was 26 who bullied me after I’d had three miscarriages mercilessly and calling my miscarriages a blessing - I’d like to seek her out and show her that I succeeded despite her. When I left and got a huge promotion despite her at my leaving do she said publicly how much she rooted for other women (!) and that she was so glad I had recovered from my illness.

I would like her address just I could send her a letter to tell her how much harm she did and how at s time in my life when I was in an abusive relationship she very nearly pushed me into killing my self. I’d ask her if that was her finest hour as a boss ?

Pyewhacket · 25/02/2022 10:21

I inherited a property on the Dorset coast from my grandparents ( I grew up with them ) and I often fantasies about spending the entire summer there.

CounsellorTroi · 25/02/2022 10:29

I’m retired, but fantasise about getting up one morning as though I was going to work, driving to my former workplace, parking up and looking at it for a bit, then driving into town, have breakfast in a coffee shop waiting for the shops to open.

Susu49 · 25/02/2022 10:45

Write and move abroad (not necessarily together!)

Why can't you write?
DrSbaitso · 25/02/2022 10:53

I am struck by how many of these fantasies are perfectly attainable.

Santaslittlemelter · 25/02/2022 10:54

A bungee jump (I WISH I was brave enough) and a tattoo.

Some maybe. But time, responsibilities and money can be a barrier to even the seemingly attainable ones.

Of course. But taking time off work to go to a hotel room and order room service? Doing writing? (You may not win the Booker but, without wishing to be THAT person, if you've got time to write on Mumsnet...) Bimbling around a bit in the area you used to work in?

Susu49 · 25/02/2022 11:02

@DrSbaitso I used to...just have some sort of block atm (not writers block!)

It feels stupid and I feel self conscious.

chickenninja · 25/02/2022 11:23

Boob job

VelvetChairGirl · 25/02/2022 11:29

Marrying RDJ, I do hope it happens tho never say never.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 25/02/2022 11:30

@PicaK

Going out of the house at 2am and walking round my local area just to see how it feels all quiet at night with the moon out.
I've done this a few times with the dog, when I can't sleep. It is lovely - very still and peaceful. I love going past the lake and seeing the swans fast asleep in the middle (would obviously rather be sleeping too, but there we go).
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 25/02/2022 11:32

Oh, and seeing foxes too. Would recommend it!

TenoringBehind · 25/02/2022 11:46

Having a week’s holiday on my own in a self-catering cottage with a sea view.

iklboo · 25/02/2022 11:48

Write exactly what I want to say in replies to complaint letters.

Same.

You could do that.
sleepymum50 · 25/02/2022 12:05

Running a cat sanctuary. My husband doesn’t really like cats, and when I said I wanted to foster cats, immediately started going on about the smell.

So the fantasy is to live on my own with a zillion cats.

Still think I’m going to foster cats though.

StarryNightSewing29 · 25/02/2022 12:09

Shag my coworker!

But we're both married, so it (probably) won't happen.
