Is the UK in danger from Russia?

Keep receiving conflicting information. I am sick to my stomach and quite simply hate the unknown. So a simple question - is it likely that the UK will be in danger from Russia? And if so what does that look like? Cyber attacks, bombs being dropped?

Even if he is willing to provoke a multiple nuclear attack on Russia, there will be people around him very highly motivated to stop him actually hitting the button. That’s how the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction prevents the use of nukes. It’s a psychological game if brinkmanship. If we lie down, he’ll run amok all over Eastern Europe. I mean, anything is possible, but I don’t think nukes are likely.

You're right and I'm longer talking about it here.

I initially interpreted OP's worry about danger. I took it to be someone worried about serious present dangers fullstop.

But, I stopped posting - once it became clear what people wanted to do on this thread. Some here however appear rather keen to keep referring back to it - with personal attacks thrown in for good measure.

Perhaps if they don't want to derail a thread, they should stop derailing. I responded to OP in good faith and stepped away when asked.

It's a good example really of how conflicts escalate to war. Unnecessary hostility. But still, I appreciate your post.

Unlikely we would be nuked. Putin is a megalomaniac and he can't willy wave if the world is in ashes. More likely a cyber attack. Yes I know I have been watching too much 9-1-1 where a cyber attack was launched on LA, but am seriously considering making sure the camping stoves are working ,extra batteries for the camping lanterns and buying some extra. bottled water. Of course if the prophecy of doom comes to nothing, then am sorted for my camping holiday 😀

I’m probably a nutcase in all areas of life!

I will usually ignore spelling mistakes (because my iPad makes its own decisions about what words I want to post).

But I do like to be able to vaguely understand a post. And when it’s only one sentence I’m definitely going to assume a malfunction (am being flippant, obviously!)

Hopefully that poster will come back to explain properly (or has been unplugged while the IT team try to figure out what went wrong).

As for Russia, I'm hoping Putin is posturing and hoping his threats scare other countries sufficiently so as not to intervene. Would he nuke us? Not unless he wanted to be nuked in return, as that's what would happen. I doubt that's his intention.

Putin is using fear and disinformation as weapons just as much as his actual military weapons, don't forget. By telling us some awful fate will fall on the West if we intervene he knows our imaginations will generate all sorts of ghastly scenarios. He doesn't need to do anything.
