AIBU to not get the love for Ant and Dec?

Are they REALLY as good as their yearly awards would have us believe? I really don't like Ant, and I don't watch them, to be honest. But are they that good or is it just that the TV Quick gang vote for them year after year?

The sheer drivel that comes out of their mouths is part of the reason I got rid of the TV.

Them and the other presenters that think we all have the intelligence of an amoeba.

To be fair about ITV ( & I did come from a family where ITV was "frowned upon" so e.g. Blue Peter v Magpie ( you can tell how old I am ) - I think ITV has done very good dramas - so e.g. Foyle's War , poirot etc. But that is not the point re Ant and Dec

Yes same here. ITV wasn’t allowed growing up, with exceptions for Morse and Poirot.

In my 20s I used to find things that appealed on ITV. They had a couple of good documentary strands as well as good drama sometimes.

However, now it’s come full circle and I only occasionally open ITV hub, usually to watch an old Morse or Poirot. Browsing around while in there very rarely turns up anything that looks much good,

I absolutely love them. Funnily enough, if someone I don’t like presents on TV.. I just don’t watch their shows 😵‍💫

My DD is highly intelligent and loves Ant & Dec!!

We weren't allowed ITV growing up. My parents now watch Coronation Street religiously.
We were allowed to watch Swap Shop but not Tiswas.

The last thing I watched on ITV was probably SNT last week, I sometimes stick This Morning on but don't sit and watch, it's just on in the background.

A lot of it is sympathy from when PJ got blinded, people who grew up seeing that have a respect for him that he's got his life turned around.

On another note, there are threads and threads on them, Pip, Holly and everyone who works under their PR umbrella (run by ageing, one time DJ Peter Powell) over on Tattle. Some of it is conspiracy theorist craziness, but much of it is very interesting about how they’ve manipulated and maintained their way to the top. It’s a bit like The Sopranos but for low brow prime time tv…

Do you think the same of all presenters / actors etc who are above a certain age or longevity? Helen Mirren? Judi Dench? George Cloony? David Attenborough?

They aren't rammed down our throats, we don't hear about them getting pissed and driving, we aren't told that they're national treasures, in fact at one BAFTA awards David Attenborough went home empty handed when Love Island won. Not in the same category, however, but it beat Celebrity Hunted, Old People's Home for 4 Year Olds and The Real Full Monty (the latter at least was for charity).

Ant & Dec and some others are pushed over and over and over, whereas those names quoted aren't. They get on with their jobs and aren't hyped up.

Ant and Dec don't appeal to me but I did enjoy Alien Autopsy. That's maybe because there were other good actors and comedians in it.

I totally switched off after Ant’s behaviour towards his ex and his addiction.

I think when people pretend not to know which is which they don’t actually want anyone to tell them.
If they find out then they can revert to ‘I always forget which one is which’.

I've lived abroad for some time and from an outside perspective they're a very British institution!! Hard to explain but when you no longer live in the country you notice things that are uniquely British!! Ant and dec are one
