My local multiplex charges about £15 for a standard screening of an evening for adults- which I think is about double what it should be...

And thought may be a terrible side-effect of illegal streaming and downloading...

But on here a poster up in Lancs says they only pay about £4 for the same...

Vue cinema, from £4.99 a ticket.

iklboo · 21/02/2022 10:10

The Vue tickets are around £7.99, Odeon priced vary - if you want the recliners they're £13. I'm in Manchester.

Sparklesocks · 21/02/2022 10:12

About £8 at the vue, £15-17 at the local arthouse cinema.

jobhunter7 · 21/02/2022 10:16

Cinema used to be a cheap night out - memories play trick... but I'm sure I paid about £1.50 in about 1995/6 at my then local odeon...

Vue £4.99
Saturday and school holidays they have £2.49 showings.

melj1213 · 21/02/2022 10:18

I live in the NW, on the Cumbrian coast and our local Vue is £4.99 for adult tickets for any screening but I haven't paid for a ticket in months because our local Asda have a pizza offer where you can either get a free Sky Movies voucher or Vue cinema ticket if you by two pizzas and a bottle of pop for £6.

ApolloandDaphne · 21/02/2022 10:19

£8.50 at our local independent cinema.

AuntieMarys · 21/02/2022 10:19

I only like small cinemas like Everyman...about £12

Clockbookbeast · 21/02/2022 10:20

£6.50 at an independent cinema.

Leftbutcameback · 21/02/2022 10:20

Cheapest is Vue at £6, posh showcase is £11 although the loyalty card is great for discounts.

wanttomarryamillionaire · 21/02/2022 10:21

£10-15 at odeon luxe

MrsSkylerWhite · 21/02/2022 10:22

We have a local independent. Haven’t been for a while but pre-Covid it was £4 per ticket (£1 for popcorn 😃). Consequently, it was always full.

NotSorry · 21/02/2022 10:22

Cinema prices are crazy - we pay just under £19 per month for Cineworld unlimited as we go a lot - when our boys are home from uni they sometimes join us and it’s about £11 each and that’s student rate - I think adults are getting on for £15 each

Comefromaway · 21/02/2022 10:22

Vue £7.99. All the seats are the nice reclining ones too.

ThinWomansBrain · 21/02/2022 10:23

Curzon - £260 a year to go up to 5 times weekly

I think it's about £15 for individual tickets, less for films in the Documentary screen.

Ifailed · 21/02/2022 10:26

I really don't know. Last time I went to the cinema was with my youngest son to watch one of the Harry Potter films. I was so bored I read a book.

NotQuiteNormalMe · 21/02/2022 10:26

£11 per ticket and a booking fee of 2.99, we used to go regularly but at nearly £50 for a family of four it's not good value imo

isthismylifenow · 21/02/2022 10:26

Cinema prices are ridiculous now.

I am in another country, so it seems it's not just here.

If you go to one of the bigger chains of cinemas, the tickets range from 5 to 10 pounds (so that's from 2D up to VIP pricing). The popcorn and drinks are where they make the most money, the 'meal' which is popcorn, drink or slushy, and sweets/small choc cost more than the ticket per person.

But we have found that any cinema that is linked to a casino is a lot cheaper and we pay less than 2 pounds there. The snacks are reasonable as well.

I suppose they make their money up in the casino and plenty parents ship the dc off to the movies while they go gamble.....

TeaScoop · 21/02/2022 10:27

£8.50 foe an adult.

LondonQueen · 21/02/2022 10:27

£4.99 for Vue, local cinema is £7.99 but has reclining seats ect.

bruffin · 21/02/2022 10:27

DC were born in mid to late 90s and wasn't cheap to take them when they were you, very much a treat.
The advent of Cineworld card made all the difference to us going at £15 to 19 a month for DH and I would go along on orange wednesday or meerkat movies for free. You only have to go twice a month to get money back.
Dd was in Cardiff and it was less than £5 a ticket but think prices went up after covid

jobhunter7 · 21/02/2022 10:28

I was thinking I wouldn't mind the government stopping illegal downloading/streaming so I could return to a cheap night out at the flicks like it used to be... but maybe I should move to Cumbria or whatever then...

Good grief! What is this booking fee all about?

Do you need to pay extra to book online?

gogohm · 21/02/2022 10:29

Vue is £4.99, independent is £8.99 not sure about the others

CatDogMonkeyPOW · 21/02/2022 10:31

West Cumbria. Local independent £5 per ticket. £2 for their weekend kid movie special. Recently moved into a new building with large comfortable leather seats and popcorn that doesn't cost the earth.
