My local multiplex charges about £15 for a standard screening of an evening for adults- which I think is about double what it should be...

And thought may be a terrible side-effect of illegal streaming and downloading...

But on here a poster up in Lancs says they only pay about £4 for the same...

South Wales here - £5 or £8 at Vue (with recliner seats) depending on the film, £15-£20 at the Odeon and £3-5 at a brilliant little local old fashioned cinema.

For obvious reasons we avoid the Odeon altogether.

MockneyReject · 21/02/2022 11:04

The 3 Odeons within similar distance from my home all charge differently. The one that's close to a small independent cinema 'price matches', but only the 2-3 films the smaller one is showing. The one in the more touristy area is almost double the more inland one.
So, anything from £3.50 - £11.50 for the same film on the same day.

LittleGwyneth · 21/02/2022 11:10

£22 per person...

Winday · 21/02/2022 11:11

The Vue is about £5, Cineworld is £10. Cineworld tends to have more choice, but the Vue's seats are far comfier!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/02/2022 11:11

Vue is £4.99, Odeon about £9 for an adult in the evening, less at other times

justasoul · 21/02/2022 11:15

I just had a look and it seems odeon prices have gone down - pre covid they used to cost £10-£12 but now it seems to be around the £7 mark. We had started going to the cinema in the next town along, it’s a Reel cinema and it costs £3.50 for day sessions and £4–4.5 for evening.

MorningStarling · 21/02/2022 11:19

£5.70 afternoons, £6.70 evenings and weekends.

TBH I've not been to cinema for years because last time I went it was £11 and I'd assumed it would have gone up in the last few years.

ShinyPikachu · 21/02/2022 11:21

Our only local cinema is an independent. £8 for an adult, £6 for a child but they do family tickets too, £18 for 3 or £24 for 4. There's a booking fee of around 50p per ticket so the family tickets save money on the booking fee. The food and drinks are a decent price so it's affordable for us all to go fairly regularly.

RockstarDotCom · 21/02/2022 11:26

I think it’s about £12. We have the cineworld unlimited passes so pay monthly and can watch unlimited films. The cinema isn’t a cheap activity.

Agrudge · 21/02/2022 11:27

£15.99 a month for cineworld. Go as many time as I feel like going

44PumpLane · 21/02/2022 11:32

£4.99 at the local Vue....we do meercat movies so it's £4.99 for 2 adults.

They also have mini morn at £2.49 per ticket and some kids showings at £3.99 per ticket....these would also be subject to meet at movies on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

We actually go quite often as it feels really reasonable for a family of 4. When you could pay for early access to films via Disney Plus it was more expensive than us going to the cinema so we went to see the likes of Jungle Cruise at the cinema.

mizzo · 21/02/2022 11:32

I've just paid £8 each for me and DC for Odeon premier seats it was a saver price I think.

Do those that pay monthly feel they get their moneys worth? I always get tempted by limitless but probably only go once a month so it never seems worth it.

SocksAndTheCity · 21/02/2022 11:32

£20.90 a month for Cineworld Unlimited then £5.50 at local independent (Genesis in East London) and £18 (I think - I don't go often because it's so expensive) at the v plush Everyman ones.

Also a lifetime member of the Prince Charles cinema (£50 one off fee) which gets discounted tickets and occasional £1 members films; I'm going to an allnighter there this weekend which was £20 for five films 😀

InglouriousBasterd · 21/02/2022 11:38

Local odeon does saver screenings at 6 quid, regular price is 8. I have unlimited which is currently 12.99, going up to 14.99 in April but still worth it as it’s my escape!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 21/02/2022 11:41

We either go to Vue (£4.99 any film, any seat, any day) or Empire Juniors (£2, choice of 2 children's movies at 11am on weekends/holidays).

kookievee · 21/02/2022 11:42

I have a Blue Light card so its much cheaper. I would not go at full price as £££.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 21/02/2022 11:46

DH and I each pay £15 per month for Cineworld Unlimited - we go probably twice a week. DS is 15 and I bought a ticket for him today to see Belfast during the day and it was £7.99 + 0.75p booking fee.

VelvetChairGirl · 21/02/2022 11:46

dont have a local anymore in my neck of London, nearest 2 are both Vue, shepherds Bush £10.99 or Harrow £8.99.

before the pandemic I used to take the long bus ride to Harrow because it was £5 all day, every day (shepherds bush did £5 on tuedays only. not been cinema since things reopened.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 21/02/2022 11:47

£4.99.

ParkheadParadise · 21/02/2022 11:47

£9.80 for showcase
Usually, do meerkat deals.

Porfre · 21/02/2022 11:48

£4

Igmum · 21/02/2022 11:49

I use Tesco Clubcard vouchers for Cineworld tickets (doesn't cover the ridiculously expensive popcorn though)

MojoJojo71 · 21/02/2022 11:52

I’m in the north east, my local Empire cinema is £5.99

Mominatrix · 21/02/2022 11:52

Just took DS to see a film at our local Due - £15/seat, but it was a Scene one as the film is not a recent release. (West London)

deadlanguage · 21/02/2022 11:53

Vue £4.99 for a standard adult ticket. Showcase £11.75 for the same. Independent £7.50 weekdays or £8.90 weekends. I go to the Vue, don’t see the point in paying twice as much to see the exact same film.
