My local multiplex charges about £15 for a standard screening of an evening for adults- which I think is about double what it should be...

And thought may be a terrible side-effect of illegal streaming and downloading...

But on here a poster up in Lancs says they only pay about £4 for the same...

Greater Manchester. Vue cinema is £4.99. Plenty of leg room and comfy seats. The Light cinema £7.50. Very roomy comfy recliner seats and table for drinks and snacks. Both are great and goid value. Can take own drinks and snacks in.

@jobhunter7

I was thinking I wouldn't mind the government stopping illegal downloading/streaming so I could return to a cheap night out at the flicks like it used to be... but maybe I should move to Cumbria or whatever then...
Streaming was going on long before COVID, the prices were going down if anything. The cinemas have got to make up for COVID and prices have gone up since then I've Cardiff prices went up during Covid

That was me that posted.
We have a couple of chain cinemas near to each other so that's probably why tickets are cheap. They show all the latest blockbuster ones

However my preferred indie cinema us a 40 min drive and that costs £6.50 for more quirkier films.

Vue website gives a breakdown of which of their cinemas fall into which price bracket www.myvue.com/legal/terms-and-conditions#book-from-499

£4.99 for the vue in the city centre. Parking can be about £5-7. The other cinemas locally are on retail parks with cheaper or free parking, but £8-9 per ticket, so the city centre is still cheaper for the four of us.

tintodeverano2 · 21/02/2022 14:27

Cineworld is our nearest and a couple of years ago it was around £15 per ticket.
Went for the first time last Friday and it was £9.99 each. Still ridiculous though!

Missey85 · 21/02/2022 20:00

15-20$ here in Australia 10$ on cheap Tuesdays even more for gold class which comes with popcorn and a drink

Scbchl · 21/02/2022 20:02

I'm south west Scotland, my local Odeon is a fiver as its so run down. The one about 20 mins away is 8.50 -10 for an adult depending on the film..

AladdinPrincess999 · 21/02/2022 20:03

Adult +child £18.00 at the odeon.
£8.99 per ticket at Vue.

CharlotteRose90 · 21/02/2022 20:04

CovidCorvid · 21/02/2022 20:11

£15 at the odeon last time I went before covid.

emmathedilemma · 21/02/2022 20:21

My local Vue is showing as £6.99, £7.99 and £8.99 for a week day evening show. I can’t get it to load weekend prices. Cineworld website says £3! I’m sure I paid more the last time I went to the cinema about 3 years ago.

purplepaintedpineapple · 21/02/2022 20:23

About £7-8 at odeon, curzon is £13 I think

Tree543 · 21/02/2022 20:27

South of England
Vue 4.99
Cineworld 9.99

Changes17 · 21/02/2022 20:30

Just checked and it's gone up! £9.90 for a single ticket, £30 for a family of four (was £28 before Christmas...)

Piggyk2 · 21/02/2022 20:31

£6.99 but several months ago it was £4.99 at the Vue.

ImInStealthMode · 21/02/2022 20:33

Cineworld, £9.99.

DP and I both have Unlimited cards though, so averages out at less than a fiver per film across the year.

beck01 · 21/02/2022 20:33

£14.99 adult
£8.99 kids

  • for 3d
Chishnfips · 21/02/2022 20:34

£9.99 at the Vue in the closest city which we never go to or £4 for Flicks in the Sticks at the local community centre. The next village over has an outdoor flicks in the sticks in the summer at the local pub for about £3.

Gherkingreen · 21/02/2022 20:38

Our town has a new smaller chain cinema and we can get two tickets, with popcorn or nachos, a beer, a KitKat (random) and a Magnum ice cream half way through the film for about £11 each - it's incredible Grin

vickyc90 · 21/02/2022 20:46

North east
Boldon and Newcastle city Cineworld - £9.99 adult £5.99 child
Sunderland Empire - adults and kids £5.99
