@LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer

On the coast here (north west) I live right on the coast and was expected to see a huge storm this morning. The sun shining with a bit odd blow of wind and I've keept the kids off school 🤔😩
I'm NW coast too - it's okay now but it's supposed to pick up from 10am and be bad from around 12-5.
Bigassbeebuzzbuzz · 18/02/2022 09:13

Was really windy and absolutely pissing it down when I got up at 7am Midlands.
It then all died down and we hardly had a breeze. Its picking up again now.
A tree about 6 houses down seems to be doing some sort of weird mexican wave so cant see him lasting if it picks up much more, he will cause alot of damage though due to how tall him is if he comes down Shock

cathotel · 18/02/2022 09:13

It's Wales, not Cornwall!

Apologies! Grin

PartyAtSueGrays · 18/02/2022 09:13

South west wales and pretty bloody rough right now. Hopefully risk of coastal flooding is receding as high tide has passed. Pressure still dropping and the worst is yet to come

drinkingwineoutofamug · 18/02/2022 09:13

Winds picking up in east Cheshire , only short gusts but doesn't hit until about midday with snow etc
I'm using next door silver birch which bends in half as a wind guide .
I agree , it's going to hit different parts of the uk at different times of the day

Where is this storm then?
BobHadBitchTits · 18/02/2022 09:14

I'm Gloucester. It seems really calm, but that might just be because the kid is still in bed and I'm having a coffee in peace instead of battling him to get dressed.

elbea · 18/02/2022 09:14

With wind it isn’t about the general wind speed, it is the speed of the wind gusts. When I managed an outdoor tourist attraction whenever wind gusts were over 40mph it had to close as there were large wooded areas.

People used to complain that it wasn’t that windy but it’s the gusts that do damage.

CoodleMoodle · 18/02/2022 09:14

West Sussex here. They've closed the schools but nothing is really happening yet. DH said it was quite blowy at 6am but right now it's fairly calm, with the odd big gust.

We put everything in the shed last night, and weighed the trampoline down with a big bucket of rocks! Supposed to get really bad around 10am.

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/02/2022 09:15

Street lights are dancing here.

HelloDaisy · 18/02/2022 09:15

@Crunchymum

Relatively quiet in my zone 1 London borough.

Getting some strong gusts but they aren't constant.

We aren't on red warning for another hour but don't feel like the current weather warrants amber. I am fully aware I am not a meteorologist and I know feck all so my observations are meaningless.

I'll probably be reporting back in a few hours that my roof had blown off Shock

😁that’s just what I was thinking!

We’re in Berkshire and nothing to report that warrants all the schools being shut, it’s a bit blustery in the trees but nothing moving in the gardens.

NormaLouiseBates · 18/02/2022 09:17

@UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea

Daffodils are down. Repeat. Daffodils are down.
😂😂😂
Sparticuscaticus · 18/02/2022 09:18

The fact they closed all the schools, colleges (with exams today) and local unis, a bridge and many local bus routes - tells us our county emergency planners are predicting mid south coast here to be be in brunt of it.

They rarely close schools and A level colleges.

I've been out in garden this morning securing as much as I can away from the windows.

WellTidy · 18/02/2022 09:18

Normal slightly breezy morning here in Greater London (south east). Still not planning on going grout though - games and jigsaws on the cards with the Dc today. And maybe a mid afternoon film.

Jedsnewstar · 18/02/2022 09:18

South west Wales, was sunny and breezy until 20-30 mins ago, now it’s gone very grey. Wind is starting to pick up.

Jvg33 · 18/02/2022 09:19

Little bit of wind here in Derbyshire. We had worse a few days ago. Rain clouds gathering.

TabithaTittlemouse · 18/02/2022 09:19

Looks like it’s focusing on my village then Grin I was supposed to be in work but there’s a tree blocking the road. shed doors are gone and bits off the roof are all over the garden. I had to rescue the roof of the log shed.
So many idiots out watching the waves and being pushed around by the wind.

ForFiveMinutes · 18/02/2022 09:21

I’m on Portland and it’s got steadily worse over the last hour. Currently eyeing the fence nervously.

mam0918 · 18/02/2022 09:22

Edge of the Pennines... slight dusting of snow, doesn't seem too bad.

It's been windy for 2 days and doesn't seem any worse, maybe even a bit better than previously.

imhereforthecake · 18/02/2022 09:22

@Legalconundrums
The shingles on my Summerhouse are flapping - in Southern Hampshire on the coast

That sounds painful!!

GrinGrinGrin

Gonnagetgoing · 18/02/2022 09:22

Been very windy SE London but not picked up to full extent yet I think.

Legalconundrums · 18/02/2022 09:22

@Senderandme it will be if I've got to get ip there and replace them again :-)

FelicityBob · 18/02/2022 09:23
