The cat is sitting under the tree in the garden and is loving life brought him in for him to run straight back out 😩

@LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer our cat was in the garden first thing this morning, during the heavy downpour. Bizarre!

Wind picking up in Northamptonshire...it’s not dreadful by any means yet but I’m assuming it’s coming....

drinkingwineoutofamug · 18/02/2022 10:39

@WeAreTheHeroes

I'm in East Cheshire in the office and the wind has picked up over the last twenty minutes. The day started sunny and calm after rain in the night. Not looking forward to this.
👋🏻 Pondering when to attempt to walk dog Raining here and occasional gust of wind. We are meant to get snow at midday
Furbulousnous · 18/02/2022 10:39

East Sussex, getting pummelled and outside there’s now the constant sound of emergency services sirens. I’m seeing post on SM of the sea with 14/15 ft waves just hoping the idiots down there taking snaps have the sense to stay up high on the promenade and not go down on the beach. I’m sure the the coast guard, police and Ambulance service are busy enough as is.

newfacesamelife · 18/02/2022 10:41

South Wales here. Bit windy but just normal wind.

GoldStorm · 18/02/2022 10:42

Is anyone in St Ives? 90 km/h winds reported at the moment. Do they have a live stream of the coast there?

In case you want to watch the sea without going outside…

West Sussex and it's scarily windy here. I really hope the power holds up as its notoriously bad for power cuts.

JohnStonesMissus · 18/02/2022 10:43

West Sussex here, blustery and showery so far....not sure if this is a prelude of what's to come, I hate high winds they really scare me.

Furbulousnous · 18/02/2022 10:45

And this one is Saltdean - just up
From Brighton - live cam in their website.

CaveMum · 18/02/2022 10:45

@deydododatdodontdeydo it's definitely moving for me. The dark red (highest speeds) were across the whole south coast of Ireland an hour or so ago but they've moved towards Bristol Channel and Cornwall now.

TheDogsMother · 18/02/2022 10:45

waves across West Sussex to @JohnStonesMissus

My father was a police officer in the 1980’s storm in East Sussex. I remember that day well!

People were plonkers then. Going to the pier etc to see the waves….

SMH.

HufflepuffPride · 18/02/2022 10:46

The sky has gone a very funny colour here.

Ponoka7 · 18/02/2022 10:46

"Spoke too soon, just watched a tile blow off a neighbour’s roof"

There's trees over in the northwest and an electrical cable on the track stopping trains from running. It might be ok to drive in, but walking children under 10, but particularly the 4-7 year olds, to school is a different matter. It's easier to plan closures and have as little movement as possible because our health/emergency services are struggling anyway. The Ree branches in the photos are enough to kill a child. It's a bit smug of car drivers, or those not in areas with trees etc to be saying they've got it wrong.
If you want to see where the wind is and have time to kill then watch Big Jet TV live from Heathrow on YouTube, planes aborting landings due to the wind shear - scary to watch!
Well that's my productivity for the day screwed!

This is scary stuff, very glad I'm not on any of those planes!

I saw that a Stena Holyhead to Dublin sailing this morning has left. I can't decide whether the boat or the plane would be worse.

Marmelace · 18/02/2022 10:46

Watching Big Jet TV ĺive on youtube, scary watching the planes trying to land. One just got diverted to Geneva.

JohnStonesMissus · 18/02/2022 10:47

@TheDogsMother

waves across West Sussex to *@JohnStonesMissus*
Waving back to you too!
TyrannosaurusRegina · 18/02/2022 10:48

Central Scotland- nothing.

Marmelace · 18/02/2022 10:48
scary
jytdtysrht · 18/02/2022 10:49

The storm is doing serious damage in some places. Someone I know has a large tree down and it narrowly missed her house.

MollyQueenOfSocks · 18/02/2022 10:49

Calmed down here in Norfolk! Wheely bins fell over but nothing major (like the bridge collapsin in the city which happened yesterday when the wind was worse than now!)

Oh my god... I just watched the MOST TERRIFYING landing on here!!!!!!!! Those pilots need a pay rise!

Onairjunkie · 18/02/2022 10:50

Cows have now all stood back up and formed a sort of cow clump in the bottom corner of the field. I wonder if they’re like penguins in arctic winds and will rotate who’s on the outside for fairness.

TeapotCollection · 18/02/2022 10:50

Wow @Furbulousnous, thank you for that link. Some fantastic webcams on there

Very windy in Derbyshire but I’ve seen and heard worse. Next 4 hours meant to be the peak here
