@daisypond that’s so odd are you in a dip/protected area? I’m also SW London and I’ve had a few things fly down the road. Wind rattling through one of my dodgy windows.

EmmaH2022 · 18/02/2022 10:31

"the wind sounds like a tiny cat with advanced constipation."

I have no idea what that sounds like 😂

BABAHOTEL · 18/02/2022 10:31

@daisypond

Sw London. Sunny. Tree tops and bushes barely moving.
So am I, DH has been out twice already to recover the bins. Hopefully, the bins are now secured, It's very windy here! Next doors fence is not going to last.
@drinkingwineoutofamug if I thought I could get an appointment this side of 2025 I might....:-)
😂😂

Marylou62 · 18/02/2022 10:32

Well that's the (relatively new) guttering down... And fence posts creaking...

NormalForStroud · 18/02/2022 10:32

We’ve just lost a branch from one of our trees and the window on the front room is starting to look like it might blow in. There are tiles coming off roofs now. We are in a town centre where we are usually quite sheltered.

roses2 · 18/02/2022 10:33
If you want to see where the wind is and have time to kill then watch Big Jet TV live from Heathrow on YouTube, planes aborting landings due to the wind shear - scary to watch!

South Hampshire coast here.

Sunny skies but now have prolonged heavy gusts passing through.

I think we are only just seeing the beginning of it

cushioncovers · 18/02/2022 10:33

Well I'm outside of Bristol and it's picking up a lot here. Walking outside is now difficult.

ClaudineClare · 18/02/2022 10:33

Wind is howling down the chimney now.

loveliesbleeding1 · 18/02/2022 10:33

Buckinghamshire here, getting incredibly windy now, sunny to the back of the house, grey out the front.

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/02/2022 10:34

Think some people where I live, didn't see about not putting bins out. Also garden lights and a plastic bird table is in the road.

BlondeWidow · 18/02/2022 10:34

My Weather Radar is showing the worst of it as having already left the UK. It is a moving weather model and is moving towards Norway....

Where is this storm then?
Windstartingup · 18/02/2022 10:35

North Bucks, massively picked up now

HopingForRainbow2021 · 18/02/2022 10:35

I’m in East Sussex - power is out now and it seems to be picking up out there

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 18/02/2022 10:35

Still not particularly windy but starting to get a bit wet... The cat is sitting under the tree in the garden and is loving life brought him in for him to run straight back out 😩

APurpleSquirrel · 18/02/2022 10:36

Wellington, Somerset/Devon border - getting worse. Can usually see Exmoor, Quantocks & Blackdowns from my house, all obscured now by heavy rain. Wind is lashing the trees & our fence is splitting. Seen a bit of fine snow/hail in the rain too.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 18/02/2022 10:36
Worst of the winds are only just hitting the South West now: earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=0.99,52.58,1998/loc=-1.554,51.680
I've been watching this since someone else posted it.
Does it change? I haven't noticed it move in about an hour.

Coffeepot72 · 18/02/2022 10:36

East Midlands - heavy rain first thing, but this has now stopped. The sun is shining but the wind is getting up. Nothing like the weather forecast though. Thankfully.

daisypond · 18/02/2022 10:37

I don’t think so. It’s not very windy here. I’m z2. I’m watching the tree across the road. It’s moving slightly.l but not strongly. I am slightly concerned that the flats at the back of us have scaffolding up. I wouldn’t want that to come crashing down on us.

AchillesLastStand · 18/02/2022 10:37

It’s gone very dark here in North Staffs, and I can hear the wind outside over the TV. An hour ago all was quiet and no sign of any storm. It’s a very thin weather band. When it hits it will be very intense and over quite quickly. That was my understanding from our local weather forecast last night.

WeAreTheHeroes · 18/02/2022 10:37

I'm in East Cheshire in the office and the wind has picked up over the last twenty minutes. The day started sunny and calm after rain in the night. Not looking forward to this.

ikeepseeingit · 18/02/2022 10:37

It’s not here in the north west where I am yet. Raging migraine about to come on though so I can tell it’s coming. Birds have all been out to get their food and are hiding away so I’m guessing they feel it too. I did at least manage a sunny walk with the dog this morning which I was surprised by. Only just started to drizzle and go grey in the last ten minutes.

Clairems87 · 18/02/2022 10:38

Bless you, that’s terrifying. I hope you all keep safe x

Marylou62 · 18/02/2022 10:38

Well that's my DDs stable roof.. She made Cornwall Live! And she's inland..
