I've experienced more wind after eating stuffing.

Mirrorball2022 · 18/02/2022 10:20

@Oblomov22

"Do people not understand that just because it hasn’t hit their area it won’t. "

Mirrorball don't insult our intelligence. We aren't stupid. Most of us here are not just talking about our areas. We are asking if anyone has it bad yet?

It doesn't yet seem to be as bad as they implied.

Not insulting anyones intelligence but some of the comments on here are ridiculous as though it’s over, was overkill and it hasn’t even started yet.

It makes you wonder if people can actually read a forecast! It’s arrived later than thought but when I got up this morning it was forecast to hit later. It’s only just hitting the U.K.

Pandoh · 18/02/2022 10:20

It's not due to hit everywhere yet. It was absolutely lovely and calm earlier, within the past half hour it's pretty bloody windy- wouldn't fancy being out in it and still a few hours left until it passes apparently.

GalaPie · 18/02/2022 10:20

Definitely ramping up here on the edge of Romney Marsh, very noticeable over the last half hour.
We are in the red alert from 10-1500 today, and local high tide is 1251. They will have closed the gates onto the sea wall, just hope people take heed along there.

CaveMum · 18/02/2022 10:21

If you want to see where the wind is and have time to kill then watch Big Jet TV live from Heathrow on YouTube, planes aborting landings due to the wind shear - scary to watch!

FavouriteFortnight · 18/02/2022 10:22

@Maddiemoosmum0203

Blue skys here bin hasn’t even fallen over I think possibly they have over egged it the media hyping things up as per usual
It’s not “media hype”. The Met Office has issued the red weather warning based on best available forecasting data, not because they want to hype things up.
Newbabynewhouse · 18/02/2022 10:22

We are north wales, partner meanr to be riding a bike at 6am this morn..i was all worried but it was fine!

Still fine now...we will see later...

RVN123 · 18/02/2022 10:23

Nothing here yet just outside Edinburgh.
Maybe Scotland isn't to get it too badly?

Casheeeew · 18/02/2022 10:23

Tonnes of snow here in Scotland

REP22 · 18/02/2022 10:26

Grim here in Hampshire. Wheelie bins blown over and stuff flying about. Even the glass bottle boxes. Empties are rolling around the cul-de-sac like an earthquake in Majestic's worst warehouse.

Thankfully got the livestock moved yesterday. The lights have just started to flicker and the wind sounds like a tiny cat with advanced constipation.

HufflepuffPride · 18/02/2022 10:26

It’s dark, wet and blustery now here in North Wales but still no sign of the gale force winds predicted?🤔

Daftasabroom · 18/02/2022 10:26

Gusting 75mph in Devon.

SleepingStandingUp · 18/02/2022 10:27

Stealth brag.

It's a snow event up here, rather than wind. We've had a fair bit in N Lanarkshire, but fairly slushy. Hoping it clears soon.
Beesandthings · 18/02/2022 10:27

South west London and very windy here - the gusts are strong, but the sun is shining beautifully between a few clouds as well. I’m glad I packed the garden things away last night.

Iamclearlyamug · 18/02/2022 10:27

South Hampshire near the coast and it’s seriously windy here - things blowing around etc. I was out at work (horses) a little while ago and even my big 4x4 was rocking from side to side

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 18/02/2022 10:27

Blown a lot of stuff around the garden now, stuff we didn't even think of securing yesterday. And still getting worse.

(South coast Cornwall, officially just an amber zone)

Soubriquet · 18/02/2022 10:27

Lincolnshire here. We have it a bit windy and it’s been wet but that’s it.

Calm before the storm? Maybe.

We usually miss the big storms anyway

2Gen · 18/02/2022 10:27

I'm in SW Ireland, but in an inland county. It's not too bad at the moment here, but it started in the early hours of this morning as Met Éireann predicted, so I'm still wary. There are strong gusts every now and then!
I have to drive to the nearest city this afternoon, half-an-hour there, and the same back, over some quite exposed and higher ground. There are plenty of trees that could be blown on top of you as well! I'm not looking forward to it because yesterday, I wrenched my back trying to hold the car steady and the flesh around my shoulder blade is a bit swollen and painful. I'll just have to wait and see if it gets worse than this. If it does, I'm going nowhere!

Trinacham · 18/02/2022 10:27

@mowglika

Anyone heard of the calm before the storm? It’s getting blustery and high winds here in Essex, bins and debris rolling around on the roads. Bad day for recycling collection Confused
Our recycling collection got cancelled yesterday
CaveMum · 18/02/2022 10:28

Worst of the winds are only just hitting the South West now: earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=0.99,52.58,1998/loc=-1.554,51.680

daisypond · 18/02/2022 10:29

Sw London. Sunny. Tree tops and bushes barely moving.

2Gen · 18/02/2022 10:29

I meant Wednesday, not yesterday! Thanks Dudley you bollix!

WestendVBroadway · 18/02/2022 10:30

@malificent7, I am also in Somerset, it is now extremely windy with debris flying everywhere. I see you have not come back to eat your words, have you been transported to OZ?

LetHimHaveIt · 18/02/2022 10:30

Try as I might, I shall never understand the mentality of people who seem actively irritated when things turn out to be not quite as bad as the worst case scenario predicted. So weird.

We're heading towards Launceston: I've seen two power lines come down (and whipping the road inches from the car) and there are sodding great chunks of tree littering the carriageway. I've got three kids in the car and am hating it. Yep
