It's gone really dark here in Cumbria and I can hear the wind picking up. We had thunder and hail earlier too.

thetemptationofchocolate · 18/02/2022 09:52

I'm not far from the coast of north Devon and it's quite bad here. The worst of it is supposed to be over by midday though so just hoping everything can hold itself down until then!
There are trees down, shed roofs gone, that kind of thing. Also some have no power.

steppemum · 18/02/2022 09:52

wiltshire - literally since I posted 5 minutes ago the wind has massively picked up!
Howling round the house now
bamboo bent horizontal in the garden

wantmorenow · 18/02/2022 09:54

Salisbury plain bloody windy now. Roof is making a heck of a lot of noise.

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 18/02/2022 09:54

It's definitely picking up here in the Thames Valley, and suddenly so. Went into McDonalds for my morning coffee: calm as you like. Came out: it was like that bit in Good Omens where Anathema is hanging onto the door frames and there were bins sailing down the road.

TolkiensFallow · 18/02/2022 09:54

I’m in sussex and the weather seems pretty normal to me…

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/02/2022 09:55

Got a few of next doors garden lights, I took mine down and the hanging baskets.

WalkingOnSonshine · 18/02/2022 09:55

We’re in Somerset and supposed to be driving to Sheffield today. Thinking of setting off about 11.30, so hopefully the red warning will be over by the time we hit it.

Oblomov22 · 18/02/2022 09:56

Surrey, nothing here. I know it's early, 5 hours left till 3pm, but from all the feedback all over the country, I haven't seen much bad. Yet. it feels like a possible overreaction?

ClaudineClare · 18/02/2022 09:56

Really windy here now too.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 18/02/2022 09:57

I'm in the West Midlands, Solihull and it's a bit windy but I don't believe 60mph like the bbc weather claims. It was enough to knock my bins over though

Marylou62 · 18/02/2022 09:58

Nanbread..Finishing the shift much much later than usual because the day staff were delayed..some by a few hours..I felt absolutely amazing despite the utter carnage on the streets of London.. Whole streets blocked, very few buses and all tubes down..I had to get from Hammersmith to Shoreditch..Took hours but I was on a high...slept very well that day I can tell you..
I was very very proud of our whole team that night..Not one baby was hurt apart from a few IVs having to be resited..
NHS at it's finest..

EmmaH2022 · 18/02/2022 09:59

North London. Not convinced there will be the problems described, hope not.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 18/02/2022 10:00

@Thegirlhasnamechanged

In Leeds here and if it wasn’t for the storm warning I would put some washing on the line as we’ve clear blue skies with a bit of wind
DH's boss told him not to come into work in Leeds. It's not as bad as it was on Tuesday, so that's a bit weird. It's quite a nice day so far, though we had some hail for a couple of mins.
TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/02/2022 10:01

Still nothing in East London.

SlashBeef · 18/02/2022 10:01

Just a bit breezy here in North herts 🤷‍♀️ driving was perfectly fine.

prampushingdownthehighst · 18/02/2022 10:02

Picking up near Taunton within the last 20 minutes

Mirrorball2022 · 18/02/2022 10:04

Do people not understand that just because it hasn’t hit their area it won’t. It’s only just hitting our shores and then it has to move across the U.K.?

I’m not expecting the worse as greater Manchester is in amber warning. But I assuming the forecasts are wrong because you’ve no wind… yet. The worst warning isn’t the whole if the U.K. more a small part. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to be bad and everyone’s hyping it up because your bin hasn’t fallen over yet 🙄

SecretKeeper1 · 18/02/2022 10:05

@BellaTheDarkOverlord
@Tdcp

Whereabouts in W Yorks are you two? I’m near Leeds and we have blue sky and hardly a murmur of wind! Certainly no rain, hail or snow, not a sniff (yet!)

Threewheeler1 · 18/02/2022 10:06

@littlemissalwaystired

Bath here and nothing much to report currently!
Bath here too, it's only just hitting I think. The windows have gone a bit sucky! Am on a big hill (aren't we all in Bath) and it's whipping down now with loads of crap from the trees. Bright sun though. Came on quite suddenly so might be with you soon Grin
daisypond · 18/02/2022 10:06

@Mirrorball2022
No one is assuming that. People are recording how the weather is at the moment. I’m sure most expect it to worsen. That’s the point of this thread.

HoldenCaulfieldismyhomeboy · 18/02/2022 10:06

Manchester here. It was blue skies with a few clouds ten minutes ago. Now going grey. It rained a bit in the night.

Crunchymum · 18/02/2022 10:07

Sunny and still here in zone 1 Shock

the80sweregreat · 18/02/2022 10:07
