To ask you to show me your gorgeous fancy houses?

There was a thread recently asking people to brag about their wonderful kids, it was really sweet!

It got me thinking, what about the homes we love and are super proud of? If you're anything like me your home is your castle and safe haven, and I just KNOW there are people here with ridiculously gorgeous spaces in their homes! (Self confessed house porn addict, love looking online at the new listings locally 🤣)

Soooo show me your fabulous houses, or even just little parts of them you absolutely love, brag about your achievements and hard earned beautiful homes ❤️

@MadForBurpees

Gorgeous houses are overrated! I have two dogs, two cats, two grandchildren so it's impossible for me to have a pristine gorgeous house. But it's the homliest place I've ever lived and I would not change a thing! Except maybe a few less pet hairs😁
This is lovely ❤️ and very very true x

@stuntbubbles

I love how no one is sharing Grin

OK, I can’t crop out ALL the mess, and it’s not ~fancy, but it was bloody hard work to get it from bed bugs, cigarette scent, Artex and a window that leaked every time a cloud went by to this point. And I do love the colour of the fireplace.

::Awaits collective judgement for boasting::

I want to live in a house like this.
oakleaffy · 16/02/2022 21:19

Anyone who has their own home is in my book lucky!
So many young ones cannot afford to buy, and there's a huge North /South divide.
Some of the most humble homes have a lovely cozy feel..A friend still dreams of a flat she had, and I still dream of my parent's first home in Ailsa Ave, Twickenham..Just a humble end of terrace {No 47} but had such a homely feel back then, all the kids played outdoors.

Mirror close up. I spotted it, fell in love with it and brought it home
I have the same mirror!

@Kitsmummy, your interiors are beautiful. The deck really is the best feature of our house, at least when there's no snow to shovel off it. The cats like to sit at the edge or on the handrailing to surveil their forest.

MadrigalCorp · 16/02/2022 21:24

oh my @Kitsmummy that is the house of my dreams!

floatinginmyhomie · 16/02/2022 21:25

Wow some of these are so gorgeous, we live on a Narrowboat so definitely not fancy but we love it

SaySomethingMan · 16/02/2022 21:27

@Weedoogie

Really like the work we had done on our living room
Love this so much!
Chichimcgee · 16/02/2022 21:31

@FaoinDrualus that’s so cool!!

Yes it is, from Church Lane out of Grayswood.

Wagsandclaws · 16/02/2022 21:39

@PaddleBoardingMomma no vision in mind as such - this was mostly stuff I'd picked up a long the way from our previous houses that we rented.

It doesn't matter if your place is small, large, rented, mortgaged or owned. Home is always home and my safe place.

I'm so sad that I'm actually always happy to come home after a holiday - we dont get to go away that much though due to our menagerie.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/02/2022 21:40

I sound jealous now and I am because I still don't own a house even at nearly 41 Sad

Wagsandclaws · 16/02/2022 21:42

@floatinginmyhomie I love narrowboat homes too. I always have this rather childish comparison to the sylvanian family's one!

The reality is possibly a bit different though.

What a lovely thread. I'm loving seeing everyone's places that they call home Smile

OK so we moved into our house right at the beginning of lockdown and still haven't really started, let alone anywhere near finished the house but following the total collapse of all DH's self employment we did immediately build a shed at the bottom of the garden to earn some £££ from - and it did rather need some plants.... (1st pic is the 'before')
I'm proud of this because I lifted, bagged up and moved every bloody foot of concrete myself and DH built the shed by hand, with a window and door we got from local free cycle type site. I would have liked nice yorkstone type slabs for the paved area, but we had to re-use what we had.

DavetheCat2001 · 16/02/2022 21:51

We live in a house that needed everything doing to it.

We're dong most of it ourselves so progress is painfully slow, but things like the fireplaces we have uncovered and I restored, have been so worth the hard work (and chemical burn n my hand!).

I really like that @Weedoogie. Where did you get your chair? That’s just our style.
Shortbread49 · 16/02/2022 21:59

My house is small and shabby with a kitchen dropping to bits but I don’t care as all the people I live live here and at night I sit on the sofa and feel happy. Plus it is in a beautiful place and the front overlooks a field with horses in so I watch them while washing the dishes Smile

TheChosenTwo · 16/02/2022 22:00

We had this oak herringbone (?) flooring laid a couple of years ago, I love it just as much now that it’s been weathered down by a family of 5 with additional people in and out all day every day as I did then.

TheChosenTwo · 16/02/2022 22:01

Obviously we did then have skirting boards fitted and added furniture Grin
We had the flooring laid while on holiday and came back to it and I almost cried with relief!! I live with a builder so our whole house has literally been ripped down and rebuilt while we lived in it. It’s been horrendous at times, truly hard, but the flooring pulled the downstairs together and made me so happy!

Wilkolampshade · 16/02/2022 22:03

Beautiful @TheChosenTwo

[quote Oesro]I recommend you all move up to the north east of Scotland. Look at this! I’ve been eyeing it up this afternoon.

I will probably be able to hear the weeping of londoners from up here: £300k probably only gets a studio flat these days

FFS I could be mortgage free and near the sea! Don't make me cry 😂

Love that shed @Wilkolampshade. Did he buy it from a kit and is it properly insulated? We’re planning to have one built/installed for us from a company and are looking around. What colour is that too?
