To ask you to show me your gorgeous fancy houses?

There was a thread recently asking people to brag about their wonderful kids, it was really sweet!

It got me thinking, what about the homes we love and are super proud of? If you're anything like me your home is your castle and safe haven, and I just KNOW there are people here with ridiculously gorgeous spaces in their homes! (Self confessed house porn addict, love looking online at the new listings locally 🤣)

Soooo show me your fabulous houses, or even just little parts of them you absolutely love, brag about your achievements and hard earned beautiful homes ❤️

@Itshothothot

Crackergal

She came in and said “wow, you have a beautiful home”

And then proceeded to say that she was renting and they couldnt afford to buy.

I thought we got on really well and really hoped we could be friends but she never spoke to me after that.

Or maybe she just wasnt keen on me, but she had been fine with me for awhile at school before she came round so something obviously changed those few hours at mine.

Wow that's pretty awful of her I'm so sorry! Also very petty & jealous of her. I can't imagine ever doing that to anyone 🥴 Don't let that put you off having friends over 💐
Oesro · 16/02/2022 19:25

@esloquehay actually, my family and friends have housing association flats and houses and the decor is actually nicer than a lot of my friends who have bought their own homes

Brigante9 · 16/02/2022 19:25

I’ll bite! The mirror is from Portobello Road. It used to be a doorway from a house in a desert.

No, it’s not a sex pond, it’s kept extremely clean and is just like an alternate sitting area. But wet.

We designed the bathroom. I love the full tiling/mosaic.

We’re moving in a few years, it’ll be very hard.

I love your reading nook, so cosy!

Was the intention that there would be some kind of warning and then the whole building would shelter? How would they know how long to stay in?

Yes! There is a test siren warning on at 1.30 on the first Weds in Feb throughout the country. The bunker is divided into individual sections for each appartment with its own door and lock. You are supposed to keep stuff like water and pasta in it, but everyone uses it to store the Swiss essentials such as skis, fondue sets, lots of wine ...

Gorgeous 🤩

Georgyporky · 16/02/2022 19:29

Yeah, I'd really like some of the oddballs online to identify where I live.

BarbaraofSeville · 16/02/2022 19:30

Well our house is far from impressive and well overdue a deep clean but we've got a room that almost no-one else has and will be jealous of, which is a foster kitten nursery and rehabilitation spa for their mums.

And no, you're not seeing it because they make more mess than you could ever imagine.

But here is one of the kittens lazing on cat hair encrusted trousers.

Wow love the pics.
Love the pink.
Inspiring as I'm in the middle of making the study into a snug.

@Itshothothot same thing happened to me. She complained about how she will never get a house like this (even though she was buying a house and her partner a builder so she was going to do it up exactly like she wanted it) she made me justify why I had a home and an extension (which has gone horribly wrong actually with water leaks and all sorts we have to redo the whole thing ) but she literally upped and left (her child who was my son's friend was upset he had to leave so quickly ) since then nothing has been the same. She commented how she had to squeeze in people at her flat for her son's birthday and her own partner had to sit in the kitchen as there was no space when singing happy BIRTHDAY to her child...and how I have all the space to have parties and then she abruptly left.

It's a Flexa Freja.

[quote Oesro]I recommend you all move up to the north east of Scotland. Look at this! I’ve been eyeing it up this afternoon.

I will probably be able to hear the weeping of londoners from up here: £300k probably only gets a studio flat these days

Not just Londoners. I'm further down the SE & £300,000 buys you a flat. Unfortunately my job is also here & without that I can't buy a house the other end of the country! Catch 22.

Wow that bought back some memories. We used to live in northern Switzerland, there were only 3 flats in our block so 4 rooms in the basement with these doors and the 4th basement room had the washing machine and tumble dryer!

5YearsLeft · 16/02/2022 19:36

Hey, fellow expat in Switzerland @FaoinDrualus! We’re in a flat but we also have a nuclear bunker in the basement that we graciously share with our whole building. Grin It’s hilarious because everybody’s caves (French for little storage areas) are inside the bunker. Good to know that when shite hits, we’ll all be down there with our suitcases, summer swim costumes, winter heavy coats, random sport equipment, camp beds (at least that’ll be comfortable!), and extra flooring for our flat, apparently.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 16/02/2022 19:39

I have a library :)
But no way I'm posting until I've renovated it Grin. It's pretty ratty looking at the moment.
No secret room attached though unfortunately and it's a lot smaller than we thought it was when we viewed so I still don't have a home for the thousands of books I own Blush.

I love noseying at peoples homes. I need inspiration for our renovation.

A house shouldn't be an instagramable life style show.

It should be a home.

This may well include underpants and dirty shoes littering bedroom floors, clutter everywhere, dirty mugs on the side and lego in places you never thought possible.

Oooh so fancy! I've never had a dressing room, do you end up using it much? It's one of those things I covet then remember I'm not big into fashion 🤣🤣

One thing about living in the woods is that we get a lot of wildlife in the yard, like these wild turkeys.

We had to redo the shower in the master bath during the early months of the pandemic. That was hard and bloody expensive, but I love how it turned out.

And one from the front garden. I don't know how that cactus survives the winter, but it does and flowers every spring.
