To think fully grown men shouldn't need to pee in the street

I've just had the joy of looking out of my front room window to see a man had pulled his car up (into private spaces that are designated for the flats on our road) and relieved himself into the space. I saw everything

For context we are not rural! It's a long residential road that runs parallel to a main road, which is opposite the centre of town. Busy with cars and pedestrians, and opposite a long row of houses like mine. This was also less than a metre from the pavement, so a poor unsuspecting pedestrian would behave got an eyeful.
I also know that that space belongs to a family with three young children and he's just filled it with his piss in broad daylight.
So AIBU to think a fully grown man should at least be able to hold it until they get to a McDonald's or something.

@CorrBlimeyGG

Sometimes people just cannot wait. Especially as they get older.
How many women do you see peeing in the street?
Folklore9074 · 16/02/2022 14:00

Not great but I think as men get older the need to peeks worse for them than women. Their prostate gland pushes on the bladder.

SweetPotatoDumpling · 16/02/2022 14:00
@SweetPotatoDumpling nice to see the mothers getting the blame as usual. What about the fathers?
I wasn't blaming mothers...I was assuming that the posters who said it was ok were also mothers/women, so perpetuating the 'it's ok for boys to pre in the street because they are boys'.

I KNOW that men think it's ok!! But I'm shocked and saddened that the women on here are ALSO making excuses that it's apparently ok too 🤦‍♀️

NotAScoobyToBeSeen · 16/02/2022 14:02

Nope its absolutely vile, its the same with spitting in the street, I very rarely see women do this and men do it quite regularly. As a pp said, if its a health condition then he should be prepared, same as the pp did, and my mil who uses a back seat commode when on longer journeys or no toilets available where she's going.

DoctorSnortles · 16/02/2022 14:03

@JaninaDuszejko

YANBU, it's disgusting. A woman would never do this. It's got fuck all to do with a medical condition and everything to do with male entitlement. He was in the middle of a town, he could have found some public toilets.
Agreed.

OP has said this man wasn't old. I agree OP, peeing in the street is disgusting. So many people on here excusing what was clearly a healthy young man being vile.
Comedycook · 16/02/2022 14:04

I saw this on Monday this week in broad daylight in a carpark on the high street... seriously. Wtf

LaBellina · 16/02/2022 14:04

Agree with the posters who say you never see a woman do this. I constantly had to pee when I was pregnant and I never did it on the street. Men who do this are simply vile. The fact that you saw his penis from a pretty far distance makes me wonder if he exposed himself on purpose. I would have written down his car number plate and reported him to the police because no matter if it was his intention or not, the fact that you saw his penis makes it indecent exposure. Women and children shouldn’t have to put up with seeing strange men’s genitals in public no matter how much they need to pee.

dworky · 16/02/2022 14:06

It's rampant male entitlement at best, a sexual kick at worst.

Horst · 16/02/2022 14:08

Men just think they are entitled to pee where ever when ever.

When was the last time you saw a women just drop her pants and go in a carpark? Or parking space? I certainly haven’t.

Although I do think this new trend locally here to potty train in the school playground!! Is certainly going too far as well. Typically it was a boy too just to throw that out there.

Never let my children pee in the playground.

Alisae · 16/02/2022 14:08

Well I’m a little bit mortified now…am I really the only woman who had to do this?! (fairly regularly)

Bladder absolutely shot after the second csection, when I need to go I need to go. Granted, I don’t just do it ‘on the street’ but it’s a family joke that I can often be found behind a bush/hiding behind my car doors in a lay-by etc.

shouldistop · 16/02/2022 14:09

@Alisae behind a bush etc is different than in full sight of anyone near by. If the man had hidden behind a bush then op wouldn't have seen him to be offended

Akire · 16/02/2022 14:09

I’m with you OP it’s just disgusting I see drivers doing this all time on our quiet busy road because we have one those phone connector green large boxes. Seems be fine use as urinal (and also as a fly tipping spot)

If you have bladder issue as a man he could used a bottle in his car. Or least opened boot of his car and tried to disguise it while he peed against his on car!

Abigail12345654321 · 16/02/2022 14:10

I don’t think we should ‘look away’.

We should stop and stare. Take photos. Video them.

(With all to usual ‘stay safe’, use your judgement etc caveats)

Let them think their disgusting behaviour will be reported to the police or posted online. Even if that isn’t the plan. Then they might think twice.

‘Look away’ is not the solution.

Parents start this nonsense by letting their sons pee everywhere. If their daughters don’t need to, nor do their sons. And wife’s should tell their husbands they will divorce them if they pee in public.

Zero tolerance is the way forward.

Men with prostate trouble or taking diuretics are no different to women taking them. Use incontinence pads if needed. Go to the toilet regularly to avoid ‘crises’. Women cope. Men can too. They aren’t toddlers who need to be potty trained.

Alicetheowl · 16/02/2022 14:10

I agree it might be medical, but he will know he has this problem, so easier to take an empty bottle and then find a bin?

coffeealldayandnight · 16/02/2022 14:12

@Madmaxxy I'm with you! It's utterly vile. No excuse. Absolutely vile. Men like to get their cocks out and wave them around to show their 'manliness'. Awful manners and disrespectful to the rest of society who has to witness and smell their reams of bodily fluids. Sorry, being unwell isn't an excuse or reason, carry a pee pot!

coffeealldayandnight · 16/02/2022 14:13

Sorry but who the hell are these people thinking it's ok?!? I'm shocked

Madmaxxy · 16/02/2022 14:13

That's a shame for you @Alisae but at least you acknowledge you'd at least try and be discreet. This was bold as brass in broad daylight Infront of a row of houses and right next the the pavement!! If you were here you'd be less than a minutes drive from McDonalds and I bet you would have chosen that instead.

It’s the male entitlement and the fact that they’re not even trying to wait for a toilet or trying to hide what they’re doing @Alisae. I don’t think anyone blames a woman for not wanting to wet herself. As most here say we never see a woman do this so in most scenarios when this is actually happening most of us know its because she had no choice. The situation with disgusting entitled men is just completely different.
Tequilabeliever · 16/02/2022 14:16

A couple of weeks ago I pulled up into tesco car park to see a fully grown man taking a wee beside his van. I shouted to him did he need to do that there and that there were toilets inside. His response was to shout “fuck off bitch”.

@CorrBlimeyGG let’s not pretend this is ok on any level.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 16/02/2022 14:16

If he has medical problems then he'd know it. Worst case scenario he could keep a bottle in his car for emergencies. Unlike women, who somehow almost never pee in the street. Funny that.

SunnydaleHSAlumna · 16/02/2022 14:17

I can't believe people would even attempt to justify men being disgusting like this. It's just pure male entitlement. Vile.

walksen · 16/02/2022 14:18

" A woman would never do this."

As a 14 year old walking my dog through town on a Saturday afternoon I came across a woman crouching at the back of a shop just off the main thoroughfare pissing in the street. Bit awkward and apologised as I walked past.

Seen it happen plenty of times on night outs too. Granted it is far more common with men. Maybe he was a delivery driver and he had no bottle to piss in which is by all accounts hard to avoid with zero hour work practices.

Supertree · 16/02/2022 14:18

My dad is a postman and this is a problem for him. He has some kind of bladder problem and will wet himself if he can't go. The GP prescribed some medication but it had worse side effects. It's humiliating. There used to be more public toilets available but they've all shut. So then he found a few buildings which would allow him to use the toilet during his round (he can't spend time driving around to different areas as he has to stay on his round). The few that were allowing him to use the facilities either changed the layout and didn't allow it anymore (a leisure centre which moved the toilets to the changing area) or stopped it due to covid. He now has to share a van with another worker so can't use the device he previously had. There really aren't that many other options available to him. I'm not sure what the other postmen and women do but it might be that they don't have a bladder problem and are able to hold it for longer. He does find hidden areas on his walk and hasn't been seen (to his knowledge) but feels pretty embarrassed by it and can't wash his hands, though does use antibac gel. I can't imagine that wearing continence pants like a nappy and then walking for hours would be comfortable on a daily basis. I would be furious if someone tried to film him and shame him.

Rosehugger · 16/02/2022 14:18

I've always found it pretty disgusting.
