Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

Suzanne999 · 15/02/2022 16:15

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

Wait. Does this mean Andrew Windsor was not at Pizza Express in Woking?

Innocenta · 15/02/2022 16:59

@RestingMurderousFace If, in a thread full of people popping up to defend Andrew in a multitude of disgusting ways, you appear to emulate that behaviour, it is not very surprising that your post will be read as one made in the same vein...

Nonetheless, if you genuinely aren't seeking to victim blame, I apologise.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 15/02/2022 17:00

Grotesque bit it was always going to happen

ENoeuf · 15/02/2022 17:00

@Gonnagetgoing I don’t know anyone who believes that! It’s just something people joke about!

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 15/02/2022 17:00

*but

Classica · 15/02/2022 17:00

@Gilmorehill

The money is going to her charity. She is not benefitting financially.
She is personally getting a settlement and the charity is getting a donation.
Chucklecheeks01 · 15/02/2022 17:01

The comments saying she has shown her true colours are vile. As a victim of sexual assault I'd of taken the moneyif it was offered.. It wouldn't have made me any less a victim.

LakieLady · 15/02/2022 17:01

@tulippa

Disappointing that any truth will continue to be hidden. Everyone will just assume Prince Andrew is guilty (he must be hiding something if he is prepared to pay out to stop a court case). Victoria Guiffre does not get proper justice. Lose lose all round.
My thoughts exactly.
peboh · 15/02/2022 17:01

Several articles state differently. There is a settlement sum, and that he intends to pay a substantial amount to her charity. So it seems she gets money, then on top so does her charity.

I haven’t seen one pp defending him, let alone in a multitude of ways. He’s a disgusting excuse for a human being but it’s disappointing she rolled over.

posted this on the long running Prince Andrew thread - commentary from lawyer on twitter

@MatildaTheCat

He hasn’t admitted anything at all. He’s showing his deep concern for the victims of sex trafficking dontchaknow? Hmm

I’m interested in the money being paid to her charity. Will she be able to personally benefit to any great extent ?

Of course she'll benefit, it's what she wanted.
Soontobe60 · 15/02/2022 17:02

@drpet49

Well didn’t take long for her to sell out did it.
If you had been trafficked as a young woman, by very powerful people, do you think you’d deserve every penny in compensation that you could get? Should she just be happy with a ‘sorry for being such an arse’ from him, and not expect any financial compensation? I believe anyone who is exploited should be able to claim as much financial compensation as possible.
ldontWanna · 15/02/2022 17:02

Selfishly I would've really wanted this to go to court. Have him on the stand,let it all play out.

But my wants and needs and disappointment are irrelevant. I'm not the victim, I haven't lived it, I haven't had to build myself back up, see my name in the papers,being called all the names under the sun and so on.

It's her life,her trauma and her decision. If this is what she thinks is best or at least easier, that is her choice.

Dontbeamugallyourlifesucker · 15/02/2022 17:02

Horrible pervert of a 'man' Hmm a really bad person inside and out! He has daughters also😞 he will never come back from this! Awful individual! His family should be so ashamed and sicked by this vile creature... If it was my dad I wouldn't want anything more to do with him! The sooner they do away with the Royal Family the better!!

EngTech · 15/02/2022 17:03

This is now yesterday’s news

Meanwhile in Eastern Europe 😳😳😳

God knows what it must be like to be up against the British royal family. Impossible to know what you'd do until in that situation. Agree that people have very set ideas about what a victim looks like and how a 'proper' victim should act.
User135644 · 15/02/2022 17:03

Men always get away with it.

Your choice of ‘rolled over’ is unfortunate - and quite frankly just plain wrong. So what if she did take him to court for the money? Does she not deserve it?
HelloFrostyMorning · 15/02/2022 17:04
@AlternativePerspective just coincidentally, quite at random, thinks this particular victim is faking it. Hmm

I mean. OkAY. I'm not going to question your right to share your opinion, but in turn, you have to accept that others will regard it as anti-victim, anti-woman, hateful and ultimately pretty bizarre.
You're just making stuff up now, and seem WEIRDLY invested in all of this.

Benjispruce5 · 15/02/2022 17:04

Just shows his guilt. Very surprised he’s done that. There’s no way back now.

Completely agree!
ENoeuf · 15/02/2022 17:05

I don’t understand who else has she named? Has she ever made allegations against anyone else/ have any of the other victims?

Itsnotover · 15/02/2022 17:05

@Classica

Mummy got her cheque book out.
Yes, yes, yes. Make this go away now.

VG is absolutely right to settle as well. I don’t understand the argument that someone would make up a story of abuse for money. He’s as guilty as hell and there was nowhere to run.
