Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

1000 replies

Suzanne999 · 15/02/2022 16:15

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

So I guess good old Queenie is helping Andrew out with our money, and by the time of the jubilee celebrations we're just expected to never mention it

Got it in one, and any media who do want to mention it can always be bought off with access deals

Cue lots and lots of pics of Kate in pretty frocks, William schmoozing the masses, etc, etc.

Ponoka7 · 16/02/2022 12:16

You don't have to guess that the Queen is paying done if the £12 million, it's in the press that she will.

Blossomtoes · 16/02/2022 12:16

What “extra decorations” @Puzzledandpissedoff?

Blossomtoes · 16/02/2022 12:17

it's in the press that she will.

Must be true then 🙄

Ponoka7 · 16/02/2022 12:18

"Cue lots and lots of pics of Kate in pretty frocks, William schmoozing the masses, etc, etc."

Meghan was in the papers today. A 'source' has said that she doesn't care about coming back to the UK because we are a lost cause. It's a two pronged cover up.

stairway · 16/02/2022 12:20

Blossomtoes given the fact that Andrew has barely done any ‘work’ in his life, who else is going to be paying except the Queen and the tax payer.

Ponoka7 · 16/02/2022 12:20

@Blossomtoes, the Telegraph and BBC are running with it. If it was the DM I'd agree with you. She's been financially supporting him all this time. Where else is the money coming from?

Monopolyiscrap · 16/02/2022 12:20

William and Kate are going on a foreign tour in March. We will get lots of photos and articles saying how wonderful the Royal Family are and how dedicated they are to the public.
We will be expected to just forget all of this ever happened.

ManicPixie · 16/02/2022 12:21

It's in the Telegraph, the most royalist paper out there. Of course she did. As someone upthread said, the family is a business and this was a business decision.

Maybe they'll bust out that gold frock again, that was a big hit and a great distraction.

Apparently he gets a Navy pension too! I read somewhere that Harry forfeited his Army pay.
Roussette · 16/02/2022 12:29

She would not have known PA was sleeping with trafficked women, but she knew who he was friends with

Exactly.

All those saying she didn't know anything... why then did she 'express concern' at his friendship with JE and his dealings as a Trade Envoy about eleven years ago?
He had been out of control for very many years at that point.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/02/2022 12:30

@Blossomtoes, the Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, given purely on the Queen's say-so and awarded in February 2011 after the news of Andrew's stay with Epstein had just broken

Monopolyiscrap · 16/02/2022 12:31

I knew Epstein was friends with Andrew just from reading media a number of years ago.
Those claiming the Queen knew nothing are basically alleging the Queen is stupid.

MuffinStrops · 16/02/2022 12:32

Prince Philip just did wha the wanted one his own time too if reports are be believed. If she let her own husband behave inappropriately, I don’t suppose she thought twice about her son doing so. Charles had a mistress and was treating his wife like shit. She did nothing about that either. It was only when Diana gave the Panorama interview and she was seen as a liability that the Queen finally acted. She seems to have no control over her sons.

OK, I thought perhaps there was something recent that I’d missed.

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 12:34

Yeah, there's no getting away from that one.

Is that an appropriate response to the news that your son cared about his paedophile, trafficking mate enough to indulge in a last hurrah visit, complete with sleep over and dinner party?

Monopolyiscrap · 16/02/2022 12:36

I think the Queen just accepts this is how men behave. She is very elderly and not a feminist. Lots of women of that generation did just think that men behaved in that way and it was natural to do so.
Gonnagetgoing · 16/02/2022 12:36

@Maireas

Diana was bumped off, no question This again? Dear lord. She was in a speeding car with an intoxicated driver and she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. If she'd worn one, she probably would have survived.
@Maireas - she was bumped off regardless. You believe you.
Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/02/2022 12:37

William and Kate are going on a foreign tour in March

Oh god, I hadn't realised - plenty of distraction potential while they tour the Caribbean Hmm

He had been out of control for very many years at that point

Just one problem with that, Roussette ... it implies that there was ever a point when he was in control (or rather under it)

Blossomtoes · 16/02/2022 12:40

She seems to have no control over her sons.

Assuming they’re adults, how much control do you have over yours?

Roussette · 16/02/2022 12:43

Indeed Puzzled

The day he got off that ship when finishing naval duty with a rose between his teeth... I thought... you complete and utter arse

Assuming they’re adults, how much control do you have over yours?

She has far far more means at her disposal to exert control.

Money
Titles
Withdrawal of privileges
Accommodation
And so on

Maireas · 16/02/2022 12:46

@Gonnagetgoing - if you believe these sorts of conspiracy theories, nothing I can say on here will sway your beliefs.
It was a tragic - and avoidable - accident.
Anyway, I don't want to derail the thread, so best leave it at that.

Monopolyiscrap · 16/02/2022 12:47

@Blossomtoes

I would have no control over mine. But I also do not dish out annual allowances and titles. When you are funding your family, money is an easy way to exert control.
Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/02/2022 12:47

FWIW my earlier post was from memory, but I just checked the dates again and apparently the News of the World broke the picture of the infamous NY park walk on 20 February - and the announcement of Andrew's new decoration was made the very next day

Just in case anyone still thought it was unconnected ...
