Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

1000 replies

Suzanne999 · 15/02/2022 16:15

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

This is obviously some sort of deal agreed by Charles and William... let Camilla be Queen and I'll okay all this dosh being paid out.

Of course it is. It's so transparent; at this point they're not behaving as though they even care whether or not they're believed. And why should they? Our antediluvian system holds them accountable to no one.

girlmom21 · 16/02/2022 10:29
@MarieIVanArkleStinks I too refuse to believe the Queen had no idea what Andrew was up to.
You refuse to believe an elderly woman didn't know what her adult son was up to?

I agree with all this. It makes him reek of guilt though IMO. Remember all that bravado initially about wanting his day in court?

Exactly. I think he was dumb enough to believe that he'd win out.“

Lots of reports of people in the know saying he still believes that his interview with Emily Maitlis was a roaring success. Delusional, clearly.

MuffinStrops · 16/02/2022 10:32

@Gonnagetgoing

and now VG is silenced until later in the year so the Queen can have her jubilee celebrations.

This country makes me sick.

No wonder the French had a revolution and the guillotine.

DottyDoge · 16/02/2022 10:34

The theory on Americast is that the interview with Emily Maitlis has saved him millions in legal fees. It demonstrated he would be an awful witness in court and so it’d be easier and cheaper to settle

DottyDoge · 16/02/2022 10:36

If there is one thing that famously the royal family cannot be blamed, it is the US legal system

MuffinStrops · 16/02/2022 10:46

I wish someone would start a Revolution. I would join up .

Roussette · 16/02/2022 10:58

OF COURSE his mother knew what he was up to!

She had a moment of clarity back in 2010 and mildly 'showed concern'. That moment passed in a nano second and he carried on with his shady dealings, mixing with despots and oligarchs, sex traffickers, sex offenders and then.... surprise surprise... he brought them into the royal family fold. Balmoral shooting weekends, Buckingham Palace incessantly GM and Kevin Spacey sat on royal thrones, Sandringham, Windsor Castle birthday parties and so on...

Let's not pretend the Queen was oblivious. She was complicit. Along with the rest of the family, the courtiers, MPs, the PM, and the Establishment.

It's all rotten

VG agreed to it, the Queen is unlikely to have held a gun to her head.

I feel for Shamima Begum. 15 year old is groomed and loses citizenship.
17 year old is groomed and gets millions.

I wonder why one is a victim and one is a monster.

Maybe VG's charity could help SB.

Blossomtoes · 16/02/2022 11:02

Yes, let’s blame his mum, it’s all her fault. This place is insane sometimes.

dreamkitchenhelp · 16/02/2022 11:05

I think she has done what is best for her and that is what is important.

He has acknowledged she was trafficked and has had emotional distress. He has not admitted his quilt but has donated money to her charity and they have settled out of court.

I think Andrew Winsor has abused his situation and behaved in the most arrogant selfish manner, I have no time for him.

Was he aware at the time of the circumstances to her being made available to him, I suspect not. I think his arrogance and stupidity and blatant abuse of his position was what happened. I hope he never gets back into public life in anyway.

I hope Virginia gets some comfort and closure and can live her life in comfort and not have to worry about money in any way. I hope emotionally she is strong enough to lead a normal happy life. I wish her all the best.

A midwife warned me about that when my first was born. She said, "Always remember a mother's place is in the wrong." She wasn't far wrong was she.

Indeed. Heaven forfend a man in his 60s is responsible for his own actions, past and present.

Lots of mums don't know or want believe their sons sexual misbehaviour. Would have thought that was obvious Hmm

She wasn't silenced, she did a deal because she chose to. She has agency, and she preferred a payout to being raked over in court and possibly loosing. It's fair enough.

And that choice is down to the NY legal system, not the Jubilee planning committee.

Exactly, I can't even buy the idea that she knew.

Few people would discuss their sex life with their mother. Most of us like to think our parents only had sex to reproduce.
"Yes mam I'm going to Jeffrey's to have sexual relations with a lovely young woman".

Remember she is still Queen, and her family bow to her. Not a chance did she know what he was up to.

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2022 11:15

Holy crap I've read it all on here. I have more sympathy for Shamima Begum than your average MN, but really? You can't see the difference between her situation and actions and Giuffre? Are you a bit challenged in your thinking or something, because that comparison is actually insane.

ClaudineClare · 16/02/2022 11:20

The queen is not some sheltered woman who knows nothing of the world. She is the head of one of the most powerful families on the world and can be ruthless if needed.

She would not have known PA was sleeping with trafficked women, but she knew who he was friends with.

Exactly

As for possible "outrage" if it came out that the Queen's paid the costs, we'll simply never know. If pushed they'd probably issue some statement about a poor old lady having raided her widow's savings, but as with everything else about RF finances there'd be no way of knowing if it was true

Most mums do not have a security service that will brief them on any issues of concern. The Queen may not have believed the security services, but she will have been briefed on what Andrew was up to.
