Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

Suzanne999 · 15/02/2022 16:15

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

Bloddt paedo and I hope there's more to come to him

derxa · 15/02/2022 19:26

@heelforheelandtoefortoe

I think he's guilty of nothing other than making the wrong friends.
Me too

You don't think he had sex with a 17 year old in Florida? Based on what....

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck

BOOTS52 · 15/02/2022 19:28

Really disappointed but not really shocked at all that 'randy Andy' will not be in court. Will he still have court in the u.s. or is this the end of it all? Those elite get off with everything and are protected and really he would be sweating buckets if he was in court and is not a very good liar. But we all know what he has done and he should never be back in the public eye as his face makes me feel ill as he looks like a dirty abuser. Anyone who tries to take on the firm will not win as all protected. So glad that Harry escaped from that awful family and I personally think that after the Queen is gone that the royal family will not survive as people will see them for what they really are.

bumblingbovine49 · 15/02/2022 19:29

Settling most emphatically does not mean he admits anything . The payment is usually made at the same time as explicitly saying that no guilt is admitted. I wonder if she had to sign something saying she won't talk about this again in the future.

Can I please point out that Andrew was still friends and hanging out with Epstein after Epstein was convicted and guilty of grooming and sexual abuse ..went to prison no less ? !!!!

There’s no evidence that Prince Andrew had been friends and “hanging out” with Epstein as you say after the 2005 earlier conviction for molesting two underage girls. They met only once between 2005 and Epstein’s deaths in 2019, which was in 2010 in which Prince Andrew cut all formal ties with Epstein.

BOOTS52 · 15/02/2022 19:36

Shocked at so many standing up for that dirty disgusting man. Just because he was born into the royal family does not mean he should be treated any differently. If he was innocent then surely he would want to clear his name in court. So many scandals within the royal family, those that were into underage boys and the likes. I always liked the Queen but think the royal family should go when she is no longer around as it is all a farce.

MRS54321 · 15/02/2022 19:37

I have a few thoughts on this :
-apart from a photo , how was she going to prove it?

  • didn’t she want to see justice ,more than a payout?
  • what would have happened if he was doing guilty? He would never have served jail time?
-did she think “fuck it” and take the money cos she knew she wouldn’t get justice? If,so why not approach directly and not do this media for so long?

No judgement but I don’t think it looks good for either of them
I also dislike this move towards guilty until proven innocent …I was so shocked the crown didn’t stand by him until after the case? It makes me think that his family think he’s guilty.
I actually thought he was gay tbh…?
And if he did have sex with her-how can anyone prove he knew she was trafficked?

Shame that slippery bastard “ killed himself..”

mathanxiety · 15/02/2022 19:39

@PleasantBirthday - nail on the head.

VanCleefArpels · 15/02/2022 19:39

Pointing out potential flaws in a legal case is not necessarily standing up for or defending either party. It’s called being objective.

KerryWeaver · 15/02/2022 19:41

@StationaryMagpie

sorry.

she was the one insisting it went to court, and has now backtracked once the original of that picture can't be produced.

Clearly her lawyers don't think the case will fly without that evidence.

If the case will not fly, why did Andrew just hand over £7.5 million?
StrawberryPot · 15/02/2022 19:42

All of you saying you can't understand not wanting to clear your name - Would you feel the same if in seeking to do so you were going to be dragged through the tabloids for weeks and weeks with every salacious detail about your private life aired and exaggerated for the whole world to see? Knowing how much that would upset your very elderly mother and your young daughters? Would you really? Or would you access some of the hundreds of thousands of pounds your family could provide to shut it all down?

I know what I would do.

Disclaimer - I'm no Andrew fan.

mathanxiety · 15/02/2022 19:42

@BadgerStripes - settling means he doesn't have to provide answers which will be forever on the record during the pretrial discovery phase, or undergo cross examination in court, or furnish evidence to back up his claims about sweating or the Pizza Express in Woking.

Theunamedcat · 15/02/2022 19:42

Being objective I would say she has done this twice now and wouldn't be believed as easily a third she needed to actually go through with it and not take a payout no matter what happened in court

But its a hard thing to do and part of me doesn't blame her one bit

Of course. The time he stayed in Epstein's house for several days in order to 'cut all formal ties'.

Yeah, sounds just as ridiculous when you say it too.

ancientgran · 15/02/2022 19:44

@Classica

I think she gets a settlement and another sum is donated to charity.
They said that on the BBC but they said the figures haven't been disclosed.
Blossomtoes · 15/02/2022 19:44

Factually incorrect.

Disgusting, exploitative and entitled most definitely.

EmpressCixi · 15/02/2022 19:44

@notwavingbutdrowning5

of course we’d pay for maintenance just like any other landlord would

Not quite like any other landlord though. The Queen doesn't pay any rent for Windsor Castle. Win-win for her.

Her “rent” is paid as part of the 75% the State takes from her crown estates profits.
Burnshersmurfs · 15/02/2022 19:44

@SoupDragon “ Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms Giuffre's character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.”

I can understand about concerns about his mother.
AChocolateOrangeaday · 15/02/2022 19:46

Neither of them come out of this very well.

OfstedOffred · 15/02/2022 19:46

His lawyers were never going to go to court were they. No way. A massive amount of money will have changed hands.

tickingthebox73 · 15/02/2022 19:46

They've already paid..... PA was dumb enough to try to fight it.

SprayedWithDettol · 15/02/2022 19:47

Only a month ago he was asking for a jury trial. Now, if the photo isn’t available, surely he would be even more confident and pursue a trial to clear his name, but no, a settlement that he has paid by him. Why?

Trainbear · 15/02/2022 19:47

Does this mean that the girls she trafficked can take action against her? Or will she/ has she bought them off?
