Me and DP both do it, and ours resolved to different answers today ! I would have got his answer in 3, and he would have got mine in 3 ! Have seen reports of the ‘split site’ problem, in addition my answer was unfairly vague I think, anyone else perplexed this morning ? On a serious note, it’s given us plenty to talk about, though my brain is a bit tired 😁

I did it first thing on the powerlanguage site and got agora (in 6) - which IS a Greek word, meaning market or open public space. At least in New Testament Greek, which is what I (briefly) studied.

After finding this thread I went back, got redirected to my times.com, and was able to play again. The weird thing is, it’s got my statistics from before. But I didn’t pay enough attention to know whether my early morning effort was included or ditched.

TheBayside · 15/02/2022 13:10

I couldn’t work out how on earth my friends had all got it in 2 or 3 goes! They must have had the easy one

Elphame · 15/02/2022 13:13

I didn't get Agora, so must have got the other word ( in 3 :) ). The word I got does comes from the Greek originally but is a pretty common UK word.

My URL still has the powerlanguage.co.uk.

Nanny0gg · 15/02/2022 13:15

@Blackberrybunnet

not today's word, but fairly p*ed off abut the US spelling the other day
It was developed by an American...
Toucan123 · 15/02/2022 13:15

I got it in 2 today - was very lucky with my first guess which got me three greens!

Yes, and for some reason (maybe my starter word) I really struggled today.
Palavah · 15/02/2022 13:19

@BlankTimes

If you go into Settings on Wordle, the top one is Hard Mode, does that give a different word to the standard one if you switch it on?
No - it just means once you've got a 'green' letter you have to keep using that letter.
Zonder · 15/02/2022 13:23

@HollowTalk because it was started by a Brit and the original website before the NYT took it over was a .co.uk address.

Zonder · 15/02/2022 13:25

@Nanny0gg no it wasn't.

Bellagio40 · 15/02/2022 13:27

@Nanny0gg no, the inventor is British

HollowTalk · 15/02/2022 13:29

@Zonder It was started by a Brit who's been living in the US for years. It was always intended to be in American English.

Zonder · 15/02/2022 13:33

Yes it was but it was on a UK URL and he definitely identified as a Brit!

Dahlietta · 15/02/2022 13:33

A funny thing happened on the way to the agora.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 15/02/2022 13:35

@Dahlietta

A funny thing happened on the way to the agora.
I'm familiar with that word both technically for work and more generally as the stem for agoraphobia.
JudgeJ · 15/02/2022 13:41

@Iggly

My solution today was aroma… I can’t get the website to clear to try agora 😂
Log on from a different device.
WheresYourSnickers · 15/02/2022 13:44

@Donatella

Like someone else said, it's to do with the website you are on. If it still says powerlanguage.co.uk you get the Greek word, if it says nytimes.com you get the easier one. Both are the 'official' one but there is a glitch of some kind
If I go to power language site it defaults straight to NY Times.

Brilliant!

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

Anybody else now discovered Worldle?

worldle.teuteuf.fr/

English or French language, I believe. You have six guesses to identify the country shown in outline. After each guess it tells you how near you are to it in km. Right up my street.

Ooh, like that one, thanks 😁👍
BrioNotBiro · 15/02/2022 13:59

I'm new to Wordle so am confused.

I tried Agora but it said it wasn't a word. After 5 unsuccessful goes it gave me the answer of 'aroma' but it hadn't shown the second 'A' in my guesses.

Does it not place any duplicate letters?

BringMeTea · 15/02/2022 14:00

Yes I got agora and then totally bemused by dh sending me his.... As I had already been told my R was in the wrong place as second letter I could never have got his answer! How thrilling! Grin

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 15/02/2022 14:05

I got Amour and Aroma both through same link today.

GreggsDoVitalWork · 15/02/2022 14:12

OMG YES - we got difference answers today and have been wildly confused ever since!!

Palavah · 15/02/2022 14:14

@Zonder

Yes it was but it was on a UK URL and he definitely identified as a Brit!
But he created it to entertain his American partner, who lives in the USA, so it would make more sense for him to use American English.
HaveringWavering · 15/02/2022 14:14

Agora is Portuguese for “now”.

Is there a Brazilian site that has got swapped in behind the scenes by mistake?

cdba88 · 15/02/2022 14:15

Weird, I got 'aroma'

It's the correct site.
