Me and DP both do it, and ours resolved to different answers today ! I would have got his answer in 3, and he would have got mine in 3 ! Have seen reports of the ‘split site’ problem, in addition my answer was unfairly vague I think, anyone else perplexed this morning ? On a serious note, it’s given us plenty to talk about, though my brain is a bit tired 😁

@BrioNotBiro

I'm new to Wordle so am confused.

I tried Agora but it said it wasn't a word. After 5 unsuccessful goes it gave me the answer of 'aroma' but it hadn't shown the second 'A' in my guesses.

Does it not place any duplicate letters?

Nope. It’s not hangman.
Nanny0gg · 15/02/2022 14:17

If it's not the NYT site you're in the wrong place

I really like the other puzzles on there too

ThinWomansBrain · 15/02/2022 14:19

@Iggly

I tried to access both via the NYT and powerlanguage to check and they end up showing me the game I’ve played today. So I’m not sure what difference there is.
I got this too (and got it in 3, thought it was quite an easy one)
BringMeTea · 15/02/2022 14:19

@BrioNotBiro no, only correctly placed letters.

BrioNotBiro · 15/02/2022 14:24

HaveringWavering, BringMeTea Thanks - now I know!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 15/02/2022 14:25

I've not ever heard of the word 'agora' used in English (and I consider myself educated and well read!). I got 'aroma' and it was right.

BrioNotBiro · 15/02/2022 14:27

@BrioNotBiro

HaveringWavering, BringMeTea Thanks - now I know!
Ah, but it didn't show the second 'A' when I guessed 'agora' though
CointreauVersial · 15/02/2022 14:27

Two different words on Wordle?!?

Glad I didn't get AGORA - I consider my vocabulary to be pretty excellent, but I've never heard of that word.

Figgygal · 15/02/2022 14:27

I got aroma
I have it saved on my phone homescreen so can't work out what site im using now

Ponyclubkick · 15/02/2022 14:28

This is so weird as I didn’t have argora or aroma but another word beginning with a

whiteworldgettingwhiter · 15/02/2022 14:28

OMG, what a scam. I got the Greek word in 3.

HaveringWavering · 15/02/2022 14:31

Ah, but it didn't show the second 'A' when I guessed 'agora' though

It should have done, I think?

HaveringWavering · 15/02/2022 14:31

Ooh, tell us!
Throughabushbackwards · 15/02/2022 14:34

Agora is the name of a high-end beauty brand in the U.S. Maybe it's better known over there?

Mythologies · 15/02/2022 14:39

Watching to see if anyone can throw light on this mystery.

plus3 · 15/02/2022 14:41

I got different words this morning - for some reason the tab on my iPad hasn’t updated to the ny times version whereas my phone has.
Did the iPad 1st & was very surprised when I updated th e phone version (that one is my true streak Grin) to find I then got it in 4, not 3

BringMeTea · 15/02/2022 14:42

It just depends which site you were linked to. I had never updated my browser on ipad but dh laptop had automatically moved his wordle over to the nytimes. Thus I got agora and he got aroma as nytimes had removed agora. I believe some folks had amour work on the nytimes one also so no idea what's going on!

LadyCatStark · 15/02/2022 14:47

FFS I got the stupid agora word this morning and didn’t manage to solve it so I ruined my streak 😭 it’s just let me replay the NY times one and I got it in 4 but my streak is still gone.

ThankGodImAnAtheist · 15/02/2022 14:52

I fell foul of the ‘American spelling’ confusion last week also, I think I’ll stick to Nerdle … you can’t mess around with good old numbers ! 😀

OP posts:
HaveringWavering · 15/02/2022 15:02

Have a read of what Nerdle say on their info page about why they say “Maths” not “math” Grin

eddiemairswife · 15/02/2022 15:06

We did Greek instead of Latin at school, so I'm quite familiar with 'agora'; we had to translate endless passages about slaves going there.

Orpheline · 15/02/2022 15:11

Agora is the Portuguese word for 'now'. Also related to 'agoraphobia I suppose. Do we now have to find European words?

SamphiretheStickerist · 15/02/2022 15:32

@MoltenLasagne

www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/ gives the Greek word, if it redirects to the nytimes site it gives the easy English one...
See, I have just checked and that link takes me to

www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html

And the easy word, aroma.

I just tried it on an incognito page and still get taken to the NY Times.

So know I know. The redirect is permanent and that's all there is! Those of you still able to acccess the original are in the glitch and won't be doing ot for long, the old site is comng down! Sadly 'We are updating the word list over time to remove obscure words to keep the puzzle accessible to more people ... say the NYT!

thegreylady · 15/02/2022 15:34

I used power language site, the word I got was NOT agora it was aroma.

thegreylady · 15/02/2022 15:37

I thought AGORA meant market
