To send a note to the cheeky fuckers who just stole our Valentines takeaway?

NC for obvious reasons.

We have just had to wait more than an extra hour for our delivery because the first one they sent was apparently accepted by the occupier when the teenaged driver knocked at the wrong house. The houses do look alike so mistakes happen and the weather is bad tonight.

I rang the restaurant manager when tracking said it was delivered (it wasn’t). He gave me the usual “on its way” flannel you get from managers who don’t know what’s happened. So I said don’t worry. Busy night. We will wait.

He rang back half an hour later, outraged himself at what he has realised and told me “naughty number blah-di-blah took it, my driver knocked the wrong door”. I didn’t ask which house. I didn’t get a chance. He obviously wanted me to know he wasn’t lying. So he told me specifically and now I know.

Luckily a matey dinner with ex instead of a romantic curry night.

Do I pop a note along to point out its not nice to take stuff you haven’t paid for? Just so they know?

I also have regular deliveries of medical equipment but this particular delivery company only notifies me that they'll be delivering a few hours before they're due to arrive.
Many many times I've either not been home or upstairs at the back of the house. My dog barks when someone knocks the door but so many times the driver doesn't even bother knocking the door and just dumps the box on my front step that can then be seen by anyone walking up our street.
By the time I get the email saying my parcel has been delivered, it's gone, stolen, especially if I'm not home to rush to the door. If I'm home when I get the message, I'll head straight down to the front door and more often than not, there's nothing to be found. It's a blooming big box full of stuff they're delivering, so it's not as though they can hide it in a bush and me not be able to see it. I do report it and new supplies are sent out via a different courier and I actually get to say whether I'll be home to take the delivery or to change it to a time I will be.
I do giggle to myself though, thinking about the look on the thief's face when they open their pilfered treasure and find some very intimate medical equipment.

I’m kinda jealous reading all these tales about food/takeaway deliveries - I live in the middle of nowhere and we can’t even get our own shopping/takeaways delivered, let alone someone else’s! 😂

I hope you got reimbursed if you had paid for it in advance. You should not have to pay for something you had not received.

I have to say this happened to me. Doorbell rang and I made my way to door. Opened door to see take out bag on doormat and driver spending off. Nothing in bag to say name of restaurant and no bill attached or I would have delivered it. I didnt touch it incase driver came back. A few hours later I thought I'd see what meal it was. Well I have no idea what it was...it looked like legs of something brishtë red in colour and in a Wrap covered in brown lumpy salce. Went in bin but we all had a laugh trying to guess wth someone had ordered

Was at friends a week ago, take away turned up. Not the one we ordered but we accepted it thinking it was. No menu no label to say where it has come from. Couldn't do a thing about it. Then ours turned up…. We waited for someone to come back no one did. Could be the same?

Pre covid we were waiting for a takeaway (and paying at the door). DH wanders through and says Chinese was cheaper than normal. Erm we ordered pizza! He ran back to the door but the driver is long gone.

Mad scramble to find cash to actually pay for our actual takeaway as he's used it to pay for someone else's. We looked in the bag but there was nothing identifiable, the driver had taken the receipt off when he'd paid. Left it in the kitchen whilst we ate our own takeaway. No one turned up to collect. When we were going to bed I went to throw it away and the reason it was so cheap was it was the most random assortment of sides but no main! Rice, noodles, chips etc. I assume the takeaway just remade a new order as we'd paid for it so they weren't out of pocket at all!

This was years ago and I still shout we ordered pizza/Indian/Chinese accordingly when DH goes to the door!!

My downstairs neighbours tried to take our takeaway the other night I heard them talking to the delivery driver outside saying “yeah it’s for us” “yeah that’s us” over and over and yelled out the window “Um no it’s not them feel free to check by coming and knocking on the door it’s addressed to or calling the customer contact number” my neighbours then called me a selfish fat see you next Tuesday for stopping them from stealing my takeaway.

Ive had them turn up at my door before on an afternoon, he had our house number wrote down so was adamant it was mine, I said definitely wasn't and he left. 2 mins later knocked again laughing "it is for you after all, John sent it, the boss" I'm like nope it's not mine, stop trying to give me it. It was during covid so he was dropping it on the doorstep and trying to walk away
